After hurricane damage and the insurance inspector, I contacted home advisor. They gave me a few local contractors but was only contacted by 2. After accepting the bid on one the contractor did some preliminary measuring and checking color, returned within a week, and completed the job.
I was trying to find someone affordable to paint my trim, and couldn't. Someone told me about HomeAdvisor, and I found someone immediately. Very professional and courteous. They did an awesome job.

Used a recommended service for dryer vent cleaning but was not satisfied that the dryer vent was cleared of the clog. The service was refunded in full by the hired service provider.
The gentleman asked me what was needed quoted me 1400. 00 plus for half the job, ( for which Home Advisor had calculated approximately 500.00 for the whole job) then he charged me 89.00 for showing up and left. I felt used and dirty. If not for Chuck with Your Plumber I would be giving this a single star.

I have used home advisor twice and both times have been total failures. First contractor did finish job just a month longer than promised and two increases in price. Work was mediocre at best. Second recommendation was a total failure. Work that was done was amateur at best. Job never was finished at what was done was a joke. These companies are not screened they are just on a list. I would find some other place to get recommendations.
