I had a satisfactory experience hiring a septic tank pumping service. Then I browsed around for someone to repair a small water leak where my metal roof meets my chimney. I'm too old to get on the roof anymore but with binoculars I could see the crack in tar caulking. No more than a 30 minuted job. So I passed on. A bit later I got a spam call from them! They wouldn't quote anything less than 3 hours and almost $400 for the job. Very high pressure. So they committed 2 sins - trying to rape me on the price and then phone spamming. Another aspect is that I live in a rural area and they could not provide any handymen within reasonable driving distance.

I used HomeAdvisor to find a contractor after the roof on my home suffered storm damage. I was contacted quickly by three contractors, and I couldn't be happier with the company that repaired my roof. I'll give HomeAdvisor an A+ for connecting me with the right people for the job. However, HomeAdvisor sends excessive emails. I opted out of marketing emails when I signed-up, yet I received five emails from HomeAdvisor in the first 24-hours. I've received three more emails since "unsubscribing" from their mailing list. HomeAdvisor will put you in touch with a quality contractor, but it won't respect your decision to opt-out of marketing emails.

My outside faucet pipe busted and the water flooded my yard and the accumulation of water had extended out into my neighbor's yard. I had to place a call to City's Utility Department to send someone to turn-off my water supply to the house. The I went online looking for a Plumber. The ad for Hone Advisor pop-up, I filled out the requested information. I recieved option for a Plumber and submitted my request for service. The Plumber called the next to schedule an appointment. The job was done and I paid him cash. Then we parted ways him financially richer and financially poorer, both pleased with the results of the job.

I have a water heater leak from the nasty weather. While I recognize that plumbers are slammed, these people made and broke THREE appointments, leaving me ANOTHER week without service, and now I can't find a plumber before March! I have tried to use them twice before, and should have known, as they have NEVER completed a job - always more and more excuses. Never, NEVER again! Now that they screwed me over, I won't be taking a shower until at least March 9. HOMEADVISOR SUCKS!
