I have had good result with Home Advisor in the past but have never used the Fixed Price side before. I was told by a contractor the jobs are sent to Handy to be done.
I booked jobs with the fixed price side to have 4 jobs done, #1 Remove a small amount of wall paper and paint in 5 areas, #2 Replace 4 interior and 2 exterior lights, #3 Deliver carpet from store to the house and #4 Hang bifold doors and replace carpet in one room. This is how things turned out.
Remove wallpaper on 1 wall and paint in 5 areas.
Wall was damaged when wallpaper was removed. I had to skim coat the wall to repair the damage before it could be painted. 1st painter worked a total of 14.5 hours over 3 days and did not finish job. Another painter had to come out to finish job. 6.5 hours was scheduled for this job and I got an email informing me to expect extra charges on a fixed price job.
Replace 6 lights
First guy texted me the day before saying he would be there the next day. He never showed up. Second guy was due at 9:30 and texted and asked to postpone until 3:30 in the afternoon. He had an emergency and never showed. Third guy only changed 4 interior lights before leaving and did not show up to finish the job. Forth guy hung the 2 exterior lights but they were hung upside down.
Carpet delivery
Called Home Advisor the day before to confirm the delivery guy knew he was to pick up and deliver a 12 foot roll of carpet. I found out nobody was scheduled to do the job and was told to contact the installer to see if he could do the delivery.
Install bifold doors and carpet
Home Advisor combined the door and carpet install together. After texting with the installer I found out he could install the doors but could not install carpet. I later found out after calling Home Advisor that the contractor rescheduled the job and never talked to me about it beforehand.
Needless to say I will not use Home Advisor in the future.

I contacted Neil and Evelyn to clean and organize because I was injured in a car accident and needed help with housekeeping. In four hours they cleaned, lifted and organized transforming an overwhelming mess. It looks like home again.
These people should be arrested! They stole $308 11 from me! They can not be trusted.Do not sign up with them or give them any information

I filled out the questionnaire and was contacted immediately by home advisor and the work I wanted done. They gave several references in my area and the one I picked called the same night.

Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
