The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I like knowing that the professionals have been vetted, and getting to choose from a set of quotes. Tracking is easy on the app.
I was contacted by very qualified craftsmen and selected 2 to work with. The first job, brick and granite steps installation, has already been completed and we're very pleased. The woodworking job has not yet been started as the specific wood needed is hard to get right now.
First, don't believe these reviews and to be fair, I was warned.
So we received call after call, begging for the business. Gave them a try and, WOW, got some leads, a few were good. However I started to notice we were getting worse and worse leads. To the point of the "leads" saying they never input the info/or I live in Mississippi, when called. So I ask HA to credit the leads. They told me they "do not credit leads like this" I was surprised, because that one in particular was FAKE. After auguring my point of why we shouldn't be responsible for FAKE leads for way too long the rep got a bad attitude and told me nothing can be done and I'm probably lying. Even though I paid almost 2k to them in under two weeks time, they decided to lose 5k+ month over not crediting Fake leads. So it seems like HA will send you some real leads that work out, but when you get leads that are fake you're expected to pay them as well and that don't sit right with me and kills any profit you may have. Fraud! I don't NOT recommend partnering with this company for your leads. Look into Google Guarantee, its our best lead source.
Their "plumber" spent 4.5 hours in my bathroom installing new fixtures for bath and shower. Was late for a second appointment. Left a mess and now we cannot shut off water in tub. Only way to stop it is to shut off water for entire house. Have to run up and down stairs to turn water on and off to use the bathroom. Called them. Cannot get another guy out for 2 days! Very, Very unhappy - to say the least.

Satisfied with work performed but not with contractors personal character. See full review. Should contractor fulfill his obligation within a year of 5/2020 I will note in a follow up review.

I was happy with both Home Advisor and the contractor. I received communication quickly and a follow up call. Would use this site again.
Fairly easy to use, results came back quickly. I have used home advisor several times with good results
Mark and his crew were on time and did a great job. Did everything as quoted. Clean-up and yard repair was good. Already recommended their service to an interested business.
First I scheduled to have my ducts cleaned, it was postponed twice and I had to use a day of vacation to be here. Next, for lawn care, they sent me suggestions of companies and I agreed with one of them on a price and day. I let Homeadvisor know. Then at 7:30 on a SUNDAY MORNING, some guy I did not hire and had not talked to is cutting my lawn! I had no idea who he was and thought he was a neighbor doing a good deed. I thanked him and told him I had hired a company through Homeadvisor, he said that is who sent him! So he had to go home.
Hi Stanley, We really appreciate your feedback and apologize for any confusion there was surrounding your lawn project. We would be happy to look into this and address any questions or concerns you might have. You can send your contact info to emailus@homeadvisor and we will reach out, or you are always welcome to give us a call at 877-699-4736. -HASupport
I was contacted quickly and given a couple providers, they even checked back to see if I chose someone for my job. Workers are awesome, as well as being licensed which is also gives a sense of comfort.
To be honest I've have used home advisory for other inquiries on work around our house and in our house. However, this time I was very disappointing with the service not by the appliance company who did the work but by home advisory.
I had a difficult time understanding the home advisors communication with me. I did not feel comfortable providing a credit card number to hold the work, project.
I did not want to use a couple of the businesses that were available to bid on my repair. I had a company in mind who I wanted to use. I was actually encouraged to consider another company. I declined the offer and stayed with the company I wanted for the job.
As I mentioned to provide my credit card to hold a job doesn't seem to be a good business practice.

She came to my apartment on time and only took about 2 hours to really clean my one bedroom apartment.
I booked a painter for two rooms. The "painter" arrived on time armed with one used tray, one brush, one roller. Though he was quite polite and congenital, his work was sloppy, with poorly covered walls, dripping on all trim, outlets and floor. The we were informed he had to leave to "go to work" but a return on the weekend to finish the job correctly.
I contact HA to file a complaint with the caveat that if he returns to do the job right all is good.
He did not return and Home Advisor did a FULL REFUND. Sad painter but great customer service!
Although I heard from a repairman within 10 minutes of sending my information, I also received unsolicited phone calls from cleaning companies the very same afternoon that claimed I requested quotes from them. NOT!
Hi Michelle, We apologize for any inconvenience this experience has caused you. We're happy to look into this and place you on our Do Not Call list. Please send your contact info to [email protected] so we can locate your account and do so. -HASupport
Sent companies promptly, completed asked for services quickly, and cleaned up completely. Both companies will return for fall/ winter jobs!
Made an appointment with HomeAdvisor. Then, managed to fix the problem, myself. Used the part of the HomeAdvisor site that allows you to change things about your appointment, within two hours of making the appointment, and cancelled the appintment. Then, just to make certain, found an email address on their web site that I used to also cancel the job. Repairman showed up the next day, anyway. He did not call first, or we could have let him know that we had cancelled the job. Got charged for the entire job (that *I* did). Contacted HomeAdvisor by phone to let them know. Was told that they have no record of our cancellation, and that the best they could do was refund half of the job price. Told them that was not acceptable, and that I would complain anywhere I could. It became clear that they were very obviously not concerned about that. Will never use HomeAdvisor again, nor recommend them to anyone else.
Hi Gary, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're happy to look into any concerns you have regarding your cancelled project and resulting billing. Please send your contact info to [email protected] so we can reach out. -HASupport
Job well done, and superior work entices. Extremely pleased.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
