The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Great working with them. Got me several contractors to choose from.
Home Advisor calls and calls and calls.
They promise you clients of similar caliber to those you have even when extremely pressed.
Then you PAY to sign up with your credit/debit card.
Little do you know it is really your credit card details they want.
They say you can put leads on pause, but the pause period will end at 2 AM in the morning and you will have leads that are REALLY NOT RIGHT for you at all. You will have paid for them on your debit card.
I immediately wrote to my Hone Advisor contact John and he said he had taken care of it. I trusted him to do so. I WAS AN IDIOT!
Little did I know that 6 months later I had paid an average of 350 a month for nothing but contacts that showed up in my box at all hours of the night after leads paused.
WORST ONLINE BUSINESS FOR ARCHITECTS
The website was very good. When I had an issue with the site someone called me to check on me to help me. Your contractors came out right away all were very professional definitely would use it again thank you
Prompt replies by available service providers. I had only a small repair need.
Needed a handyman immediately to help with drywall repairs to prepare for an appraisal. Found one and he showed up within a couple of hours. He did a TERRIFIC job and about a dozen blemishes, holes, breaks were repaired and painted. Looks like new! It was Matthews Painting.
HomeAdviser(HA) is great but it is still so very hard to pick a great contractor. It is hit or miss when choosing a good contractor from HA. One contractor can be the best you've ever had and the next one can be the worst but, they both appear to be perfect for the job on HA. It's like bad reviews are deleted, not written or you have to dig very deep to find them.
Replace a large section of drywall. The old drywall was cut out because of leakage and pipes etc had to be relocated.
I went through a survey, but finally got to place where I didn't know how to proceed and quit. Apparently I had gotten far enough, for an electrician did call me.
Quick and easy seems to be very fair in pricing range that companies provide. The companies are very honest and professional.
Home advisor was very easy to use and find professional services
When we decided to have the work done we searched Angie's List as we are members there and the the referrals came back quickly from Home Advisor as I believe they have now merged. There were several options available, and the one that called us back first provided a good estimate over the phone based on what I explained. He was able to come out the next day can confirm his estimate and provide additional suggestions so we decided to give him the job.
Having flies refinished is not fun. Lots of work moving furniture out and then back into the rooms. Carl was the utmost professional. Kept us informed throughout the process and was in and out as soon as possible. The floors look beautiful.
2 calls from pros. I liked the first guy, so I hired him and canceled the appointment with the 2nd guy.
Great job it took less than two hours. Great communication with the worker
They sent my info to a couple people and the one who reached out to me made me confident in his ability to perform the work I needed done
Excellent service, friendly, prompt staff. Paint looks awesome. They cleaned up as they said
Well worth the money to ensure the dryer is working efficiently.
I had a customer service representative from Home Advisor call me about a job I had put in a request for. He told me that they had some fixed price repair program. I questioned weather or not this handyman would be able to do the job I had and gave him more info on it. He assured me hthey could and said if they job isn't done right they would send someone out at no cost. So I decided to trust them. They first appointment the guy shows up and says "oh I don't have the right materials for this job" and he leaves. I reschedule. The second appointment gets canceled the morning of. I reschedule. The third appointment comes and the guy says "I don't have the skill set for this." So I lost a week and a half on a very time sensitive job for me. Also home advisor charged me the first appointment without any work even being done! Bad business! I had to find another company to do the work and now I have extra work on my plate trying to get my money back from home advisor. Will never use again!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
