The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

There is nothing fast and easy about HomeAdvisor. I solicited their "advice" on a small job. What did I receive in return? Constant pitches for bigger projects. They never gave me a single quote on my small job requiring a "low wattage" repair person.
An order for electrical services was cancelled, and the amount charged on my cc was initially cancelled as well. (Spoke on the phone and was ASSURED that my charge WOULD BE cancelled, and it initially was, but then reappeared.) DO NOT mess with HomeAdvisor. They use unqualified people, screw up details (like parts & materials paid for and then the person sent demands reimbursement!), and post fraudulent charges. AVOID!
UPDATE: HA HAS now refunded the second attempt to charge after some additional back & forth. Am watching for any further attempts.
Home adivsor called me a few times to ensure that the services I was receiving was satisfactory and if they could offer assistance in any way
I was able to find the right expert on the Home project I needed.
We want to give a five-star rating to Jeff Heath for repairing our hardwood floor. Because of a leak in the wall, workmen previously had removed a 5'x7' section of wood flooring. Jeff responded promptly to my contact through Agi/Home Advisor and came promptly as planned. The boards we had left over from the original project were within 1 sq. Foot of being enough. Then he volunteered to secure the proper baseboard for us and installed it the next week for which we happily paid him extra. The job looks terrific. He came each time promptly on schedule, was helpful and competent. We will call him again if we need another floor job.
I didn't expect to get called back within minutes by a few pros for this job. I am going to be doing other home related updates in the future and will definitely start with HomeAdvisor.
Received immediate follow up by contractors willing to provide free estimates.
Painted exterior of single family home in Sun Lakes. Spots needed repair and cleaning of surface to provide sound base for color coat. Crew did a great job and owner came to direct minor spots that needed touch. Beautiful job and more than any other contractor did.
Very pleased with the contacts given. Hired William from WM3 and he was awesome to work with
David Mallette was my initial contact and he was very knowledgable about windows. I asked multiple questions like ratings of the windows and if stickers with ratings on the windows when installed and delivery timeline if I did order and deposit amount. David asked what I was looking for and why and listened. David works with multiple companies and so can offer multiple products. His installation team led by Josh could not have been better. They did all the windows in my house, were extremely careful on my property and installation was excellent. Clean up after was also excellent. I received quotes and sales tactics from many and I am fortunate I chose this team. They are professionals who say what they are going to do and deliver on it on time and do an excellent job. I have family who know how to install windows and they visited while the install was on-going and said the install was great. The product was exactly what David said it would be. No surprises and excellent quality.
We have hired through Home Advisor a few times and have not been disappointed. We've met some fine people that do a really good job.
Very timely and efficient response from providers for lawn care, even on a major holiday (Memorial Day). Received offers in less than 30 minutes.
Excellent! Got the project done on time!
Contractor very personable, on time delivery and went above and beyond to accommodate my requests.
They all called right away and came out within a few days to quote.
They did a fine job with 2 different kinds of fences and made sure everything was cleaned up. It took about 3 weeks because of very bad weather.
Austin and his team did a fabulous job on our lawn, in the short time we needed them. They cut and trimmed the weeds back, and even bagged the clippings we had asked them to do. They were professional and accountable!
Thank You Austin for a job well-done! I highly recommend High Class Grass! They are exactly what their name says!
I gave a description of what was required and it I was given well researched bids.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
