The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

My experience is documented in the review I provided for the company "Thorough Plumbing".
My experience with Home Advisor is positive. I am not a regular user and in this case Home Advisor
Made it possible to contact and do business with an outstanding company.
I started the project in Angie's list application and paid the down payment then when it came time to pay th application kept erroring out. When contacted they said to use the homeadvisor application instead which they couldn't get my project correctly updated so I could pay after three people was told I would be transfer to supervisor and hung up on.
Went to Home Advisor for a furniture repair specialist. The one I had previously used was a scammer. He kept a significant deposit (several hundred dollars)/for fabric and then ghosted me. Barn store locked too late, and all that, I THEN looked him up on the web and found that his brother's company, through which we had reached him, was the focus of a number of unresolved BBB complaints for the same thing. To me, that is theft. Yet when my recommended referral came from HomeAdvisor, guess who it was! And although he had complaints for the SAME thing even on their own website, he got a high rating from HF. PS, my wife and I complained to H F that they should remove him from their site, it got nowhere. They did offer us our $300 from our original issue but this was not what we wanted. We wanted them to stop imposing him on victims. We refused it.
The advisor's first recommendations were not satisfactory, but I keep calling until I found the repair person that would do the job to my satisfaction.
Can't remember what I hit to get to home adviser but it was not on purpose.
Home Advisor took our needs, matched our needs quickly with 3 service providers; all three responded - one apologized to say that they were in not the mitigation business. The other two professionals firms were both very good, courteous and provided quotes. We went with the first one who called even though was more expensive but we had committed to them during the call.
We truly appreciate Home Advisors for providing a very valuable service.
I used Home Advisor because I was in need of lawn services. The suggestions and referral quotes started quickly coming in. I really like the fact I was getting fair estimates and had really great choices I could decide on. Home Advisor made my decision effortless. Easy payment options also put me at ease. They even checked to make sure the job was well done.
They did an excellent job. It was a small project and they still took it and did the job on time. The price was right.
I contacted home advisor for small handyman projects. They matched me with a pro and gave me assorted days and times available as well as took my credit card information. I chose a date and time that worked but when that day arrived, no one showed.
Called customer service and they told me I was rescheduled for another day and time over a week later. I received no notice or even was consulted to see if the future day and time worked. Poorly communicated. Won't be using Home Advisors again.
I got matched with a highly qualified professional. I would suggest that when choices are given of what you need there should be a "write in option".
Enough times the project i have is not
Iisted (as well in requests for reviews).
Otherwise a very good experience
Fast service, quick to hall away ac's. Good attitude and was not expecting nor required any help from me.
Wonderful - Contractor and staff were very 'spot-on' people!. We agreed upon what was going to be done [two trees cut down, stumps/some roots removed, debris discarded,
Installing soil and sod where trees had been] and the price it was going to be. And, they did it... SIDENOTE: The weather was not the most congenial but, the work was completed in a timely manner, as promised!
We've tried homeadvisor a few times now. They never show up. To make it worse, they text you a cancel well after they were supposed to be there and your day is already shot.
They were quick about getting set up with right people.
A little expensive, but patchwork usually is. Hire did a great job, and was really easy to communicate and schedule with. Would absolutely hire again.
It's always good to know somebody but when you don't, HomeAdvisor powered by Angi is the place to go. Don't waste time or money in the hunt, just go for the pros.
Had them out twice for plumbing repairs. They tried to accommodate you on time and got the work done ahead of schedule. Their charges were very reasonable.
I'm highly critical of search engines that lead you to contractors, but this experience couldn't have been better. It helped me find a great
Housepainter, Assurance Painting, that allowed me to get my project done quickly while at a good value.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
