The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Very prompt response from the three contractors I contacted, very professional job from the one I chose, very happy with Home Advisor and the whole process.
I've tried HA a few times and very few of the recommended contractors respond. I got very lucky with the one I chose through HA compared to the bids I got on my own.
Contractor that was hired was extremely professional and prompt! Great communication and completed job above our expectations!
HomeAdvisor is a joke! I contacted them to get an electrical panel upgrade and the response was ridiculous. Three "professional" service companies never showed up for the appointment, two canceled, two had no idea what work they were supposed to perform and one thought he was replacing a garage door opener. The three that did show did not have the proper tools for the job and none of them were licensed to do the job. And on top of that, homeadvisor still wanted to charge me for work that was never performed. I had to threaten them with a lawsuit in order to get them to back off. I will never use their services and I have let my friends and family that are renovating or remodeling their home know of my experience. I would rather pay full price to a REAL PROFESSIONAL than use HomeAdvisor. They suck and seriously need to fix the issues.
It was awesome. Fast, easy and accurate. I setup a recurring service.
I used to be able to go to Angie's List and bring up all the contractors in my area. Now when you put in your zip code it initially only brings up three. I don't care for this new format. I liked it better when I could simply peruse all in my area right from the beginning and the site didn't filter out who I saw.
Could not have been any better. Company will ask questions and give recommendations but you have the final say. Great people.
My contact with the contractors was great. I submitted the request, they contacted me quickly and scheduled estimates quickly. My attempted contact with a Home Advisor consultant was not very good. I submitted the inquiry to have someone from Home Advisor contact me and no one ever responded.
Bath tub drain is very slow. Reed from Easy Drain came out and fixed it in no time!
My first experience with this service & I was pleased with the quality of the work.
Put in what I needed and was given several choices. Within a day we had enough information to hire who we needed
Unfortunately I can't remember the first individual that I spoke to when I started my search for my re-upholstery job. I still have his information on my computer and will use him again. I received a call and email from him immediately asking what was needed and within minutes I was sent Mr. Kim's contact information.
Great, very pleased with work that was
Completed. Would refer this company. Worked from the time they got here and didn't stop until they were done.
I needed someone to haul off 3 old heavy box TVs and a small dorm fridge. The company that I went with was very professional and I would highly recommend. They are VET OWNED and very pleasant. I will use them again.
My experience was good. Alex kept me informed of what was going on.
We were looking for Junk Removal Companies and within 5 minutes of using the site, 2 calls were received. Both Companies were very timely in providing estimates and scheduling the pick-up.
This whole process has been stressful and unpleasant. I booked a month ahead of time, and never got confirmation that someone had taken on the job. Even then, that was at the last minute. I have a very narrow window of when this job can be done, so it just added a ton of stress to me. The overall experience was not good.
Access to to vendors is very limited. I did not see all the vendors. Only vendors I could see are the one they want to promote.
Homeadvisor charges for every lead sent to each contractor regardless of whether or not that contractor is able to even call that lead, and each contractor pays for leads done by other contractors. This is the equivalent of going to Walmart and looking at two televisions, buying one and being charged for two. This is an unscrupulous method of making money, as it takes advantage of the small business owner.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
