The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Received several offers to quote our job, but we went with Frank because we were impressed with his knowledge and professionalism.
Our contact was quick and efficient and we found the right company for the job. Was a good experience.
When contacted an appointment was made thru Homeadvisor with another contractor who never showed up. Homeadvisor called after I wrote on website my annoyance as waiting for someone to keep an appointment. On that call they directly put me in contact on the phone with a second contractor and left a voice message with them. They NEVER returned that call or a follow up call. Homeadvisor later gave me 3rd name and number who made an appointment that day, showed up, was hired and did the work. 2 out of 3 unreliable business not a good thing. They should vet their people better.
Joshua Trees was professional in all regards and I will be recommending them to my friends.
Homeadvisor sent 2 painters to my home paint and install molding in one 9 X 12 bedroom. They were scheduled to arrive at 10:00 a.m. 2 guys showed up at a little before 3:00 in the afternoon. I left them alone to do their job. At about; 7:30 they called me in to inform me that they needed more paint for the walls. I went and bought another gallon. When I returned, they were packing up to leave. When I asked if they would be back tomorrow I was informed that for them to come back, I would have to pay extra because Homeadvisor was only paying for 5 hours work. I argued that the job I paid for wasn't done, but they insisted that for them to do any more was going to cost extra. I told them not to bother coming back. The job is unfinished, the work they did was sloppy and not professional quality. After discussion with Homeadvisor they agreed over the phone to refund half the fee. We will see whither that happens or not. I know HA vets their contractors for backgrouind check, license, etc. but obviously not for professionalism. This is my second, and definitely last, bad experience with HA.
I had a few hiccups when I tried using HomeAdvisor instead of Angie's but those problems seem to be smoothing out as the merger continues. Have now had success using HomeAdvisor and Angi providers and the process from research to review. Relieved to find my helper is back:-) Thanks for the good assistance
I would have given Home Advisor a higher rating, but I am not pleased with their new procedure. When you need a service and don't know who to call, they can provide this information. But then it is taken out of our hands! I want to have companies and their reviews provided directly to me. Then, I would check them out and contact the best ones I selected. Now they are having contractors contact the person seeking help. It then comes out of my control! I don't like it!
We were given three pros and the first one whom called was absolutely wonderful and knew exactly what the issue was.
The other two pros we were given did not get back to us until 2-3 days later.
Excellent service. Very pleasant and professional. Completed several jobs in 2 hrs
I thought I was responding to a quote request of the vendor. I was on the vendor's website, so I thought.
Immediately after I submitted the request for a quote, I got an email from Home Adviser advising me that they have found two companies that can provide the service that I was looking for. I was dumbfounded! I also felt deceived.
Within one hour, I received calls from both companies offering to provide a quote for the work I needed performed.
I had no opportunity to research the two companies. They were literally forced upon me.
I was under the impression that Home Adviser would recommend companies and I would be able to review their reviews and investigate them BEFORE they, or I, would contact one another..
Should you need work done to your house, you might be tempted by the "Happiness Guarantee" advertised by HomeAdvisor and Angi. However, walk away.
We hired a contractor via Home Advisor specifically because we trusted the guarantee. He turned out to be incompetent. He installed LVP flooring incorrectly (likely voiding the warranty), laid tile that isn't level and isn't spaced correctly, damaged our walls, did electrical and plumbing work without a license, moved fixtures to be off center, and all kinds of other things that prove he isn't capable of doing the things we hired him to do. His work crew was made up entirely of high school students, not skilled tradespeople.
When we brought this to Home Advisor's attention, they made us jump through many hoops and two months later, insisted that we allow the incompetent contractor to fix his mistakes. The only alternative is to go to arbitration.
That does not live up to the obvious meaning of the words, "Happiness Guarantee". My friends, don't believe the lies and run far, far away.
Until now the team has been in charge of providing the contractors as well as they communicate with me to know if everything went according to my expectations. So the whole group works fine, but there have been times when the access to the application through the mobile or through a browser has not worked. Otherwise after waiting it works.
I've tried using this site several times and have found it confusing to navigate. Had to go in and out trying to find answers to questions I've had.
Easy detailed information and quick responses. You can tell who wants to work by the quickness and ease of responses
I had a problem with one of your suggested plumbers who broke my wall tiles and left me with a whole in my wall. I called hone advisor and they sent me some recommendations of contractors to fix the wall. I called several but the groutsmith was the only one who responded quickly. It turns out they were the best.
Requested services several different times. Some responders were good. Others were definitely bad or less than stellar.
This service is beyond unsatisfactory. I have experienced two no shows for projects I was charged for then got the run around trying to get my credit carded refunded but I cancelled my membership six months ago yet my credit card was just charged for an annual renewal fee. When I called customer service three separate times I was told they could not access my account due to an ongoing system enhancement so I would need to call back and when I select to cancel on the website the option freezes and will not process the cancellation. It's all SUCH A SCAM. And btw, the customer service center in not in the United States.
Worst experience ever! Hired a painter through home advisor to paint some rooms in my new house that i haven't even moved into yet. Each night i checked in on the work but couldn't see much because of the plastic and tape everywhere. It seemed like he was protecting everything. I went away for a couple of days and came home to a mess. The painter text me saying he was done. He didnt prep any walls, didnt fix any of the areas i asked him to fix, didn't even finish painting all the trim. He used a spray gun... the paint was all over my light fixtures, doors, hard wood floors, counters, cabinets, electrical devices, subway tiles in the shower, mirrors, windows... pretty much everything in the house had paint on it.
I called him and he said it all comes out with paint thinner. I called home advisor and told them i need someone to fix this and they need to reimburse me for the electrician i hired and the floor guy i hired to sand and re-stain the floors that were destroyed. They told me to submit the quotes in a claim form which is what i did. AFter a week of calling customer service they finally scheduled someone to come fix the paint. That pro was helpful and polite but only came for 6 hours and painted 3 doors. The rest of the house still needed to be painted and cleaned.
It has been two weeks i finally received and email from the claims department and they said that i need to submit the quotes to my insurance company as a claim and that i can request a time for them to call me. I requested the time and still have not heard form anyone. Why would i need to use my inurance for their mistake? It's been the most frustrating experience dealing with Homeadvisor and Handy.com They are all the same company. I was also informed that they only do a criminal background check on the their "pros" but they dont vet the pros for insurance or work experience. The pro that was sent to fix the mistakes said anyone can call themselves a pro and sign up for Homeadvisor. Not sure how true that is but thats what he said.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
