The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Was recommended someone who makes cabinets for my very specific needs and they did an amazing job fixing/finishing the job that was started. Will definitely use HomeAdvisor in the future.
My experience was wonderful, everyone was very helpful, they found me the perfect person for the job. I couldn't be more grateful.
Working with Home Advisor was a real inconvenience. I started on line and received a call almost immediately from someone at a call center. That person was very polite, professional, asked lots of questions about the job and gave me the impression that they understood what I wanted. They said they'd transfer me to an associate that would set up the appointment for the estimate. Once transferred, the second person asked me the same questions, in the same detail. I was probably on the phone with each of these people for ten minutes. I think there may have even been a transfer to a third person. The result of all this time and effort was the Home Advisor associate telling me to "get something to write on as I will give you the contact information for three contractors that you can call to see if they're interested in your project."
That's NOT what I wanted. I could have done that myself in half the time looking up contractors on Google. What did Home Advisor actually do for me other than waste a half hour of my time on the phone? Home Advisor should be able to make an appointment for the contractor to see the job or, at the very least, Home Advisor should tell me that they're sending my information to a contractor who will call me within 24 hours to schedule an appointment. Home advisor should NOT just give me a list of contractors, telling me to call them myself!
Contractor was very professional. Response time was quick and job done well. Will use again and highly recommend.
I have to say this service gives you a list of probably the most inconsistent and unprofessional contractors I've dealt with. For instance for a job you contact 5 contractors maybe and I mean maybe 2 will call and set up an appointment and maybe 1 will show after rescheduling 3 times. The ONLY REASON FOR 2 STARS is because I found 2 great companies out of 20 contacted between 3 projects. Vet your contractors better and maybe just maybe don't let them pay to advertise there crappy customer service on the site go by TRUE reviews.
Vacuum and dusting fine. Very good on bathroom. Overall very satisfied. Energetic and friendly. Missed using Pledge on furniture. Missed vacuuming behind recliner and storage room. But very helpful. Look forward to next job.
Home Advisor identified many businesses that wanted to install stone, when I wanted Airstone to reduce weight in my condo.
Great to work with. Web site was easy to get around in. Details were spot on
I've used the app successfully several times. The difficulty I find is two-fold. One is finding the right phrase to describe what I want to do in the same terms the app uses. For instance, I want to smooth out all the ruts and bumps in my lawn to make it look better after mowing. It was hard to find a way to describe that to fit into one of Home Advisor's categories. The second issue is connecting with vendors. For a garage door repair project, Angi gave me two vendors, and allowed me to set an appointment with Vendor A. Once that appt was made I received an Angi Message that Vendor A wanted to reschedule. I messaged them immediately with no response. I messaged Vendor B and they agreed to send someone out that morning. Vendor B arrived and solved the problem. Vendor A never responded to the message to reschedule. I called Vendor A. They did not have and appointment scheduled, so none to cancel. Closing these loops and scheduling disconnects with Angi seems commonplace in my experience.
They connected me with someone near by that took care off the job
It was my first time hiring movers. They took my information down and what I need done and then they had the moving companies called me I hired J&C moving they provided excellent service.
Home advisor made us aware of Torres Garage Doors/Alberto Torres, and his service was amazing, so for that I thank Home Advisor
I read five star reviews and called. Dave came out the next day, looked at the mold issue in our bathroom ceiling and glass shower stall and got Jake to come out the following day to fog our 1,300 foot condo with ozone.
We removed our plants, dog and opened all the cupboard and room doors and our air ventilation system for the fog to penetrate as mold attaches itself to everything especially dust particles.
We ran errands and picnicked in the park for four hours and returned. Upon entering, the smell of ozone was heavy but bearable. I called Dave to ask if we could open windows and he said that would be fine. Upon inspection Justin had scrubbed the mold off the shower stall and painted antimicrobial mold paint on the ceiling. He also cleaned the air conditioning filter in our condo air system and put it back in place.
We cleaned our air ventilating fans in the two bathrooms and will now make sure to run them before and after our showers along with keeping the bathroom doors open after using them to keep moisture down.
The fogging comes with a one year guarantee.
This company was prompt, courteous snd answered all my questions. Highly recommend.,
Hired Cornerstone Services for chimney sweep. They showed up in days and did a great job. Honest work, no upselling of other services.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
