The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Thank you HomeAdviser. This company was great. I rated a 5 star because it is true. His work is very professional and he was great to work with. We are very pleased..
They found me the professionals I needed fast…I tried to do it on my own first and wasted a lot of time and money…won't make that mistake again.
I used the Angi site to find housecleaners to do a one time deep cleaning of my house. While I was waiting for quotes from the cleaning services listed, HomeAdvisor called to set up it up for me. They never asked if I wanted them to be the go-between, so I thought I must have somehow selected that option by mistake, but I figured I'd go ahead and try it this way to keep things easy. I had wanted a deep cleaning with rug shampoo and windows, for a 4 bed, 4 bath house that hasn't been professionally cleaned in a long time. HomeAdvisors said it would cost $144. This the Boston metro area and I am used to paying $200 for a *regular* weekly housecleaning. But I went ahead and booked it because I didn't want to put more time into the whole thing that day: I figured the cleaners would do what they could for that pay, and I'd get the deep cleaning another time.
The 2 women showed up right on time, but had no instructions from HomeAdvisor on what I actually wanted done... and they were going to be paid $54 total for the job. I know the companies that arrange things between customers and service workers get part of what the customer pays--that's fair enough. But they were going to take almost two-thirds.
I find this appalling. I went to Angi because I wanted to find real professionals who would do a great job for me, and i was willing to pay for it. But these women were going to be terribly underpaid, AND they were being set up to fail since I wouldn't get the service I wanted (if I hadn't known, I might have just left a bad review that would hurt them going forward). And, I feel manipulated myself, because I never requested or really wanted the service HomeAdvisors provided. There was never even an email from HomeAdvisors putting in writing what I was going to be charged or what their policies were, just a message telling me the job was scheduled--very shady.
The only good news is that that when I called Home Advisors I was able to cancel the whole thing. But I will be checking my credit card statements carefully. I would warn workers not to get their jobs through this company, and definitely won't be going back to either HomeAdvisor or Angi's list.
Wonderful! Mike is a perfectionist and is very meticulous. We were thoroughly pleased with his work and have hired him to do other things at our home. We would definitely recommend him to all of our friends, family and neighbors for any work they might need done. Mike is an honest and fair businessman!
I was contacted by Dependable Garage Door within 5 minutes of making a request on Angli. Mervin with Dependable Garage Door contacted me and gave me a very fair price (over the phone) to replace a broken spring on my 8' high single garage door. Mervin said he could come the next day (Sunday morning) to fix the door. He called at 9am Sunday morning to make sure we were up and ready for him to come and repair the garage door. Mervin arrived on time and completed the repair in less than 45 minutes. Mervin has 14 years of repairing/installing garage doors and is very knowledgeable & professional. After completing the garage door spring repair, he checked the operation of the garage door and made some minor adjustments to ensure proper alignment of the door. I was very pleased with the workmanship and quality of parts used. Mervin was very courteous and I would highly recommend him for all your garage door needs. Thank you Mervin!
Had a positive experience. Fast replies and good service. Nice to have community rating back up my decision.
Finding services we needed in our area was easy using HomeAdvisor. It enabled us to immediately make contact and schedule appointments to receive estimates for completing work at our home.
Came here looking for roof repairs. Entered my information and had 4 companies call and provide quotes for the job. Once decided on the company, they came out and fixed the project in a matter of hours. Very easy and afforable
Called to get an estimate, the guy came out to the property in a timely fashion, submitted a thorough and professional quote. We signed our agreement via email, figured out a good start date, and off we went.
Absolutely a pleasure. The website was as good as it could possibly be.
Doing a Google search I have come across contractors that don't exist but link to Angi/Home Advisor. Subsequently I get communications about services I never requested.
Excellent customer service for yard maintenance. Thoroughly recommended
I had an estimate from a local company in March. They had not gotten back to me even though I reached out several times. I searched for tree removal and got Angie. Angie promptly sent me 5 different companies. SC3 was to top of the list and within minutes I received a call from them. After they gave me the estimate, since it was within the range of the first one, I went ahead and went with them. They completed the project with in the month. I was very please with the ease in accessing a company through Angie and will use again when I have another project that needs done.
We had tried on our own to get a leak in our roof fixed and failed miserably in our choice of contractors over the past year. We reached out to several contractors who did not return our calls. We paid two repairmen who failed to fix the leak and did not stand behind their work. Finally, a company who only did only full roof replacement suggested contacting Angi for partial roof repair work. Our roof was fixed within 2 weeks. Awesome!
Very good. Called right after inquiry. Timely and professional.
I described my project and accepted the first one who responded. I couldn't have been more pleased. The vetting process worked well.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
