The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

My experiences have been positive for the most part. It is cumbersome and some what confusing to navigate the site to find the type of specialist for which you are looking.
Home Advisor responded with a sense of urgency! Connected me to a professional. I really appreciated it
For the first landscaping job I went to the home advisor website and was given a list of only 2 contractors. I did not call the first one because they wanted $100 to talk to me. Previously, I had paid anther company $75 to look at the project and was intimidated and harassed by them to do a bunch of work I did not want. Therefore, I skipped that company listed on home advisor. The second contractor was Torres and they did a very reputable job by listening to what I wanted, measured the areas I had laid out and gave and itemized bid. Very good experience on first job.
The home advisor website for the next project that I am bidding now for paver stone work was a very bad experience. The site was hacked somehow and I got a lot of scam and harassing misdirects to scaming websites. I also received phone calls from this second visit that were scams. This was a bad experience.
Had a great experience with Home Advisor. I went onto the site to locate appliance service companies in my area.
Good job. They arrived on time. Took their time and Cleaned-up
Did not know who to use. But thanks to home advisor I found a great plumbing company
Pagung Construction's replacement of various rotting window trim, fascia and deck wood (a plank and railings) as well as adding a screen door to the job was economical, high quality and professional. Eddie Pagung and a helper performed the task efficiently in about six hours. I found Eddie to be hard-working, personable, and reasonable regarding the scope of the job as opposed to other contractors who wanted to do far more rehab than I needed or wanted. I'd hire him again without hesitation to do any kind of construction.
I've used HomeAdvisor on 3 projects. The reviews were very helpful. I picked pros with high ratings and they lived up to them.
It was good to have someone resolve my issue in a quick and professional manner.
Home Advisor found us a number of rated contractors to choose from.
The one small negative point about Home Advisor is that they constantly requested feedback on contractors even before the job was done.
Easy, convenient, and thorough. Was kept well informed through email and text. Everything was well detailed and easily accessible.
Although the first HVAC company quoted me an initial price of $2800, and then reduced it to $1900, I was advised by PSE&G rep that the job should be "approx $500". I then got an estimate from Ray's HVAC, and the price was $450. I was told the first company was just upselling me. Ray's was honest, and prompt. The repair was fixed within 2 hours of my initial call.
Very good put in what i wanted and in a matter of hours had 4 companies calling for estimates.
I have used Home Advisor several times. In each case, despite giving hardly any information to them, they gave me a ridiculously high quote. By that I mean several times what anybody would have expected to pay. I declined service. Within just a couple of days, I was contacted by a local vendor and was very happy with the service. I ended up dealing directly with them. Obviously (to me) Home Advisor gives a super high quote, contacts a vendor, then pays them a fraction of what the customer ended up paying. I am glad that vendors are able to see who contacted Home Advisor, then deal directly with the customer for a whole lot less money. (And the vendor was well paid)
After filling out the information online, I waited to be contacted. The initial call I received from HomeAdvisor was a bit confusing. I gave the person on the phone the same information I submitted online, then I was transferred to another person who asked me the same questions and didn't seem to be aware that I had just spoken to someone else. This was ultimately sorted out and I was connected to the person who eventually did the work and he did a great job. HomeAdvisor may need to streamline their processing procedure a little but all-in-all, they saved me from endless internet searching for someone to do this job, so I would recommend using this network.
Checked Angi and they referred 'Merica Appliance Repair. I made an appointment for that same day. Martin came on time, was very personable and efficient. He thoroughly checked the machine out. Said there was nothing wrong with it as I had only put one rug in the machine and when wet it weighed a lot so unbalanced the machine as it could not spin. Told me to add other rugs so they would balance the load. No repair charge.
Jeff got in touch with me promptly and did a great job a few days later. Nice guy too.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
