This razor is so big and has such a large frame around it that shaving a face around nose, ears, etc. has to be followed with a finer razor like the Gillette Mach 3 that I was trying to replace. For a woman shaving legs, this would be excellent (if you don't use their shave jell). For a man shaving his kisser, not so much.
The gang of shaving blades is spaced so close together that it needs a light-bodied shave cream. The shave jell that Harry's provides is so thick and goopy that even if applied in a very thin layer to a wet face, it clogs the spaces between the blades and the whole razor rides up on the jell and doesn't touch the skin! Rinsing the thick jell out of the razor is difficult and slow. It leaves you wondering if anyone at Harry's actually uses the products they are selling.
* Quality of razor edges is excellent, they stay sharp twice as long as Gillette
* Design of razor unit nullifies that advantage, blades spaced too close in a large frame
* Shave jell too thick, clogs the razor -- try it with Olay Body Wash, works better
YMMV, this is what I found in actual usage.

Thanks for the feedback, Paul. We've actually released a brand new blade cartridge that has a precision trimmer, which we think would solve this exact issue. We hope you'll give our new blades a shot and see what you think!

I tried the plan and used the gel, washed my face, did everything I was supposed to and the first swipe pulled on my face hair and the rest of the face just didn't get close enough. The next few days I tried the blade with foam creme and I actually cut my throat for the first time in years. I will not be trying for more blood in the future and I would not recommend the product to anyone.

Harry's razors are just okay but what made me cancel my subscription was the horrible customer service I received. Harry's overcharged me and kept telling me that I would see a refund in a few days. A week has passed and no refund and now they will not respond to my emails. Poor way to run a business and I think they are running a scam. They keep telling their customers that a refund is on the way when in fact it is NOT. As for their razors I tend to get cuts when normally with other razors this is not an issue. I am going back to the dollar shave club as they have better prices, service, and products. Shame on Harry's for how they are treating their customers. I will NEVER shop with them again!

That definitely doesn't sound like us, Sal. It is true that any refund takes a few days to register in your account, but if you were promised one and even a week later it never arrived, that's not right. At this point, our system may not physically allow for a refund (as it's been quite a while), but if you give us a call at 888-212-6855 our Customer Experience team would love to do whatever they can to make this right for you.

Completely satisfied
February 7, 2016

I love it. The best shave I ever had, and I get a lot of shaves out of each razor. The shave gel smells great, clean and refreshing. A little dab about the size of a nickel covers my whole face. I used to get nicks and red blotches around my neck with my store bought razors. Not any more. I strongly recomend trying Harry's.

WORST SHAVE EVER
January 28, 2016

I bought this after hearing the hype on the YouTube saying it could even be used for legs (reason I bought it), sadly the results after shaving were EXTREMELY disappointing! The box came on time and of course the packaging looked nice and I was so excited to use this since it's supposed to be great for sensitive or dry skin. I followed all the tips and tricks that came on the pamphlet and unfortunately, the shave was not at all worth the price! The razor was harsh against my skin and barely cut the hair! There was still plenty of stubble and the shave gel it came with was extremely drying and somewhat burning, left me with some nice red, painful razor burn and lots of stubble. I would highly caution anyone before purchasing this, I'm very unhappy with the results and regret purchasing this completely.

Coupon Scrouge
January 18, 2016

I just ‘unsubscribed' from Harry's because of one reason... Customers are only allowed one coupon, (usually used with initial order), in a lifetime.
Really a stupid way to run a business and keep Customers. At most a $5.00 coupon can be found on the Internet for Harry's. $5.00 is worth loosing Customers over? I think not; but, it is enough for Customers not to remain a loyal Customer of Harry's.
Somebody should take the time to rethink the policies that make-up Harry's.

Sorry you feel that way, Gayle. We try to keep all of our prices super fair (beyond fair, actually) so that coupons aren't necessary over and over again, and we of course hope that our customers like the shave enough that they feel good about continuing to purchase our razors and other products. Sorry to see you go, but we understand that you have to do what you feel is right.

I normally shave with a Mach 3 and Kiss My Face Moisture Shave lotion. The Harry's starter kit arrived in the mail, and opening the box proved a pleasant aesthetic experience. The packaging and design are certainly easy on the eyes, and just looking at the contents of the box put me in a positive frame of mind to try them out.

After a nice hot shower I settled in in front of the mirror to shave. I thought I'd use the included Harry's shaving gel for the full Harry's experience. As soon as I put it on the chemical fragrance reminded me why I don't normally use that kind of shaving gel. I also thought that to really evaluate the blade I should use the same shaving lotion I normally use, but I forged ahead with the Harry's gel anyway. The Harry's shaving cartridge has 5 blades, which seems silly to me, but if it gets the job done for less than I spend on Mach 3 cartridges, I can put up with silly.

Shaving around my upper lip worked well, but along my jaw, up by my cheek bones, and particularly down on my neck I had a hard time finding the right angle at which to hold the handle to put the blades in proper contact with my face. It seemed like the moisture strip and rubber bumper protruded and kept the blades from making contact with my skin at most angles. By the end my neck was simultaneously bloody AND prickly. There were also patches of whiskers under my jaw. Even though my neck was raw and irritated, I broke out my usual shaving gear and cleaned up after the Harry's shave.

It could be that I would find the sweet spot with the Harry's shaver if I stuck with it, but I don't see any reason to do that. I might go back to the Harry's shaver when my current pack of Mach 3 blades run out, but I see no reason so subject my skin to another ordeal unnecessarily.

BTW, I'm 47 years old. I'm not new to shaving.

Update 13 Feb 2016

The day I posted this review I also posted a link to it to Twitter and tagged Harry's. I got the following response:

---------------------------

Sorry to hear that. It can in fact take a few shaves to get used to the system, though, so hopefully future shaves show improvement.

---------------------------

That was just under a month ago. I've continued to use the Harry's razor. I'm still on my first blade cartridge, and the shaves have gotten better over time. I like the feel of the handle better than I like the Mach 3 I was using before. The Harry's shave isn't revolutionary or anything, but it has grown on me over time, so I'm changing the review from 2 to 3 stars.

I put off shaving last week for 3 days. Say Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. I used your new razor blade with my routine preparations. I experienced what I thought was the edge of a broken coke bottle. I do not experience that service if I do not wait so long to shave. Not good. After a three day beard. Carl

Oh no! Was that the first and only time you used our razor? Only asking because it actually can take a few shaves to adjust to a new system like ours (new in that the blades are set at a slightly different angle than what you're used to). If you really think about the angle you hold the razor at and the amount of pressure you use, we think you'll find that the shave improves.

I tried the Harry's Truman set and compared it to my usual Gillette Mach3 blade, in a Gillette engraved handle that I bought in 2001 for around $75 (it now costs much more than that). The Truman handle was very good, with excellent balance and good weighting. The grippy engraving on the Gillette handle gave it the edge, but at a much higher cost. (Think of the Gillette as an investment that you only buy after you're certain that you like the blades). Despite the huge cost difference, I only consider the Gillette marginally better than the Harry's Truman handle.

I started with a fresh Harry's blade and a fresh Gillette blade and alternated daily, using the Harry's shaving cream. I blotted the blades dry after each usage. My beard is light, so I normally get about 3-weeks out of each blade. I pay around $1.82 per blade for the Gillette at Sam's and I understand that the Harry's replacements are around $2 each. The price difference is small and not significant to me.

On big problem with the Harry's is the lack of a trimming blade. The Gillette Mach 3 has a nice, sharp trimming blade that I find myself using in places that aren't smooth after a once-over. Other than that, the Harry's performed as well as the Gillette, but no better. The lack of a trimming blade put it at a disadvantage and then it didn't outshave the Gillette in order to make up for that short-coming.

It's a fine blade, but I'm sticking with Gillette.

Good enough for shaving your face, DO NOT attempt to shave your head with Harry's.
Been shaving my head for about 13 years, tried the Harry's razor, and 2 hours later, my gashes are still oozing... guess I got used to the flexibility of the Gilette Trackball razor...
Forgot I had tried this before, didnt work couple of years ago, but the wife and daughters like them for female shaving... I'll pass these on as well, they'll get good use of them.
For myself, I'll stick to the Trackball... my cranium is worth 4$ per blade.

Couldn't ask for more
November 17, 2015

Gave Harry's a shot as my long time Gillette went missing. High bar for Harry's to reach, but I must say it's the best shave I've ever had with no irritation. I went with the Winston set, which for $20 (look for a coupon!) was a great deal, with 2 more blades, shaving cream, face cleaner and a travel cover for the blade. Super sharp blades and I experience no clogging of the blades. Helps if you rinse it once in a while! I don't think you can do better for the money and I'm not going to try!

I had a problem with a can of shaving gel so I emailed Harrys help on the website. They promised to send a replacement can and now over 2 weeks later the can has not been replaced. And this is after at least 12 emails back and forth. I finally got fed up and told Harrys to cancel my account. I realized that I have never had a problem with a can of shaving gel and why start now.

Stick with Gilette
October 28, 2015

I found Harry's handle to be very good, but the blade was encased in a rather ackward frame, that made getting to hard spots, like nosrtils, a bit difficult. And the tube of shaving cream is much too gunky to use. CSo, I will use a Gilette. I get about 6 shaves if I thoroughly rinse it and blot dry. BTW, I use a shaving brush and soap combo. That will gve you the very best results.

I forgot my password two days ago. Harry's sent e-mail for new password. After each try, Harry's said the password does not meet their configuration. However they don't tell you what configuration it has to be in. I canceled, my account by phone. Today 9/29/2015 I wanted to, try their face wash. So I logged on an ordered the face wash. You cannot make a purchase on line without opening an account, I had to do this over the phone, also on line they advertise free shipping. Since the item was $7.00 they charged $3.00 shipping. Also since I have a tough bears I have found that a simple BIC razor with their cream works well
