I tried the program and even bought a few boxes of blades. They are all gone now and I won't be getting more. They are not as good as Gillette Fusion Proglide. They get dull fast and the flexible hinge on the sides breaks from bending before the blade is ready for disposal. In other words, the plastic trim breaks before the blade is dull. I was getting about 12 shaves from the Harry's blades and about 20 shaves from the Gillette blades. If you buy the Gillette on Ebay you are spending the same amount as the Harry's for a better blade. This has been my experience, might not be true for all. Good day!

Don't want to have to post a review, but... I am a 72 year old woman who only shaves her chin & have done so for 57 years. Never has a razor broken with such light use. What? The hinge cracked? I explained what happened & the rep said she would send me a new one. Which she did...& CHARGED me $16 on my credit card? Is this not a defective razor or a scam?. Was sent as a "free trial" a while back, but that's not the point. Wouldn't people wanting to buy ( shave plan) want to know this can break? I guess my question is... I can afford $16.00, but why should a reputable company, with the knowledge that their flex hinge can crack, not apologize & send a new one? The woman on the phone acted as if this is an everyday complaint!

Here we go again

Heard the ad on the radio for a free sample of the razor and other products so, I went to the website only to find out that in order to get the free samples, you must sign up for monthly shipments that are not free. So, if you want to have your razors shipped to you (for a fee) every month, this may be for you. Personally I would prefer to try the samples to see if I wanted to start a subscription for their products.

Sorry for any confusion here, Chuck. While you're right that the free trial does trigger an ongoing subscription that begins a few weeks later, you can modify or altogether cancel that subscription at any time (including before the first paid shipment ever goes out). So you're never locked into anything.

Broken

Got my free trail and after first few shaves the surrounding rubber head of the blade came apart! Does this happen with newly designed blades, can't use it like this! Never had a Gillette razor head come apart!

I've used every razor on the market including all of the razors sold in brick and mortar stores and Dollar Shave Club and these razors are by far the best. The only way to get a better shave imo is to use an old style safety razor but that's too time consuming to do on a daily basis. I've bought these as gifts for my father and brother and they also agree. These razors are a great value without sacrificing quality which is rare these days and it's very convenient to know that my razors, face wash, and lotion will arrive at my home every 2 months without me having to lift a finger. I highly recommend Harry's and I find all of the negative reviews extremely difficult to believe since my family and friends have had the exact opposite experience with their products and customer service. Keep up the good work!

Hope they improve

Problems with new razors

See my original review below. Updates since then. Harry's has contacted me and explained their changes (see their response below as well) They have sent me new razors and while I don't necessarily like the new rubber for their blades, their quick and customer friendly response has kept me as a customer. I just hope they return to their original great product soon.

I have been a big fan of Harry's for the past two years but something has changed recently. Their newly updated razors are... for lack of a better word... crap. They look and feel cheap and the blades are dull or misaligned. Something seriously has gone wrong here. If I were them I would bravely announce they have a problem, switch production back to the original models and send every customer a free order of 4. I just bought a ton of them and I will have to throw them out. Let's hoe they can figure this out. Rating for products purchased early 2016 and before that 5 out of 5. Current production 0

Really sorry to hear you're having trouble with the new blades, Bill. We did recently update our cartridges, though the 5-blades themselves did not change at all. The 2 changes were that we added a precision trimmer blade to the top of the cartridge (for those hard to reach areas like under the nose and sideburns) and we changed the rubber we use for the flex hinge (it is now more durable and flexible than before).

New blades breaking
September 7, 2016

My last two blades each broke at the flex hinge. The way I see it, I feel like I need to put a little more pressure on to get a close enough shave, but when I do that the blade breaks at that point. Same break on each blade. I believe these are old style blades. I have not tried a new style blade yet but will now that I received my shipment.

So now I am using more blades, which kills the value equation.

Thanks for letting us know about this, Mark. The good news is that one of the changes we made to our new blade cartridges is that we now use a more durable rubber for the flex hinge, so we expect that breakage to stop once you begin using the new product.

Also, for what it's worth, we've found that it's best to use less pressure but instead change the angle of approach to get the best shave (rather than forcing it down with more pressure... the blades are super sharp and will take care of most of the work for you as long as you make sure the blades are hitting your stubble at the proper angle).

These blades are the worst. Uncomfortable right from the start. I have fusion and hydro blades that have a dozen shaves on them and they are more comfortable than these.

I have a light beard and usually only shave every other day (about 12 times per month). I get about 16 shaves for the Fusion, about 14 for the Hydro 5. Heck i got 12 pretty good shaves out of the 800 Razor brand. These things I'm lucky to get 4. I end up using 3 to 4 blades per month. Not a very good deal

Well that's not what you want! We tend to hear that guys get about ~7-8 shaves per blade, so we're sorry to hear that you're getting half that at best. If you email [email protected] we'd be glad to take care of you.

I recently ordered the new blades from Harry's! This is just my opinion but the new blades I tried for 2 weeks and at least 5 times they nicked my face and every time they caused razor burn! I don't know if it's the angle of the blades or what but I went back to the old blades and didn't Knick myself or have razor burn! Have you had this complaint before?

Really sorry to hear that, John. This is in fact something we've heard, as some guys have trouble adjusting right away to the new system. The fact is that our blades are set at just different enough of an angle than what you're used to that it can take some varying of the angle you hold the razor, as well as the amount of pressure you use (shouldn't need too much... the blades are sharp!), to really get that smooth shave with us. We hope you'll keep those factors in mind and stick with us a little while longer. Short Life

Bought the introductory kit- nice looking but razor quality is very poor. No more than 3 shaves maximum per razor while with a Gillette or comperable I can get 7-10 shaves. Also my beard quickly clogs up the razor as the blade spacing is so close. I think it would be good for a womans legs but the fact that one gets so few shaves makes it not economical at all-Fail.

Sorry to hear about this experience, Chris. Most guys actually tell us they get closer to 7 or 8 shaves per blade, so we're surprised to hear you're only getting 3. As for the clogging, we'd recommend rinsing with a strong stream of water from the back, rather than the front of the cartridge. Awful shipping

Ordered blades on 20th paid for two day shipping... Never got an email that is had shipped out. So I called... They said,"wasn't sure what happened." They up the shipping to next day and resubmitted the order. On the 22nd. Ummm then the 23rd I get a email saying the first order I put in shipped but it won't be there until 26th! Still waiting for the order they resubmitted for the next day shipping... But looks like the same thing is happening with the order they were suppose to cancel and resubmit. Order from them as a gift to someone... Item isn't going to arrive until way after my friends bday! Never again! Not to mention the blades may not even be good...

Awesome Razor

Well I was skeptical but I sent off for a Harry's razor after seeing an add. I received the free razor kit two weeks ago and still on the same free blade! I was so impressed that I ordered 16 more blades for $30, have the price of other high tech blades. The razor is a joy to use!

The product didn't come in like my family ordered but when I called, problem was resolved better than I could have imagined. Absolutely awesome costumer service. Definitely cheaper than my Gillette or Shick which I have bounced between for 20 years or so. Also, as close if not a closer shave than either as well. Love it for many reasons. I put this on my calendar to review again after 6 months to tell more about it after some more use. Greg.

The first Harry's razors I got were fantastic. Best shaves other than barber shop. With reorders, quality has fallen off the cliff to the point where I get these gapping flesh wounds in my scalp. For some reason the razor buckles and cuts into the side of my scalp. This has happened 4 times. So I will either go back to Gillette or seek a higher quality alternative. The other thing I've noticed with recent Harry's reorder blades is they go dull so fast that I only get a couple good shaves. It's like it's part of their plan as an internet biz knowing my exact purchase history. Give me great razors to hook me. Then give me crap razors after I'm invested in their product. So I'm done with Harry's.

I got the razor and I hated it. The shaving cream gets on the handle and because it is a smooth handle the razor slips and you get cut. I tried to cancel and they old me it was too late and would not let me return it. It is overpriced the WALMART BRAND WORKS BETTER AND IS MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE.

I've tried several different brands of razors, even the really expensive ones. I'm really picky when it comes to razors because I'm not a big fan of shaving, even though I like to be clean cut. I also get razor burn pretty easily. So, I saw that Harry's had a free trial so I gave it a shot and I couldn't have been more impressed. The shave gel smells great and provides an incredibly smooth shave, and the blades are sharper than any razor that I've ever used. To be honest, I was wondering if the razor was even cutting at first because I felt to tug whatsoever. I am completely satisfied with. Harry's and I'll continue to be a customer of theirs.
