I have been seeing the ad for harry's shavers and thought that the prices seemed very reasonable compared to the brand I was using. When I got to use the product, I thought it didn't to feel right when I shaved, I thought it was too wide and not too flexible. Then I got my second shipment of 8 cartridges and realized that I am actually paying much more after currency conversion and taxes. I have cancelled my plan and I am going back to my fusion brand.
We totally understand Nelson. We wish that it was easier to keep the prices down for our customers up north. The good news is, we hear you and we're working on solutions as we speak. Have a great rest of your week!
Razor is okay at best.
Their phone service reps are a joke!
No more Harry's Products - will let EVERYONE I can know to AVOID HARRY's not so much because of your mediocre product but BECAUSE YOUR PHONE REPS TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THEY ARE NOT IMPORTANT!
We're really sorry to hear this Rudy. Our Customer Experience team is available by phone and email everyday, from 10am - 6pm EST and we'll be sure to pass your feedback along. If you have any specific feedback about what went wrong in the conversation, then feel free to forward it to [email protected] or send us a private message.
I had really high hopes of becoming a Harry's fan; I just knew they were going to be great. I was disappointed. The handle feels nice, but the razors are cheap and do not shave well. The design of the razor also makes it hard to get that tough spot under the nose. A great product works great the first time and every time. I also dislike how Harry's tells you to keep using them as though something is wrong with your shaving ability rather than their razor. I don't buy shoes I have to break in and I don't buy razors that require practice. Back to the expensive but reliable Gillette.
Your shoe analogy is interesting and something we've never actually thought of before. Certain types of leather will, in fact, break in and be far more comfortable and form-fitting after you've worn the shoes for a bit. Just the nature of the beast. Somewhat similarly, our razors, because of their slightly different angle than you're used to, can take a few shaves to "break in" (though in this case breaking in doesn't have to do with the razors changing, but rather you adjusting and figuring out the right angle and pressure to use). To be clear, that has nothing to do with us thinking that you don't know how to shave; we aren't blaming you rather than taking responsibility for the quality of our razors. It is simply a fact, and something that we've seen so many times over the past 4 years (where someone doesn't like the shave the first couple times, sticks with it, and then begins to love it once that adjustment happens) that we know to suggest it anytime a similarly poor experience like this one comes up. It sounds like you'll simply part ways with us, and we certainly understand that, but we promise it's not just some line we feed you to try to sell razors. We want you to get the best shave possible, and because so many guys are getting that shave with us, we want to do whatever we can to get you to have the same experience as them.
The best way to sum this product up in a review is this; When you see the Harry's razor, blades and foaming shave gel in the store, let it be and don't buy it. Don't waste your money, don't waste your time, don't waste your patience on such a completely crappy and inferior product. For you see, I have already done all of this and I feel robbed. So I am here to save you some grief. I wish I had my money back so I could have more fun flushing it down the toilet. I shaved with it twice and it was worse than your normal disposable razor. I threw the foam gel away after the second shave because it is worse that just shaving with foam from a bar of soap. In summation, this is an absolute piece of crap that doesn't even deserve to be compared to Gillette or Schick.
Sorry you feel that way, Jason. We wish you'd found it to be as good as the millions of people who use and love our products, but certainly understand if you'd rather cut ties! Hope you have a great week.
I ordered four sets on line during my visit to USA last August and used a set personally; rest I gifted to my friends across India. My experience has been awful as material quality is very poor as also design of the razor blades with its rubberised support isn't conceived well.
With the result, none of these can be used. I have taken some pictures and will send you separately thru email.

I had great hopes due to the fantastic marketing.
Right now your product sits at the bottom of my rating pile.
Too bad.

Sorry you feel that way, David. Our factory has been making razor blades for nearly a century now -- and making ours for all 4 years of our existence -- and millions of guys are loving the shave they're getting with us. We hope you'll try us again in the future!
I like their marketing. I like the aesthetics and branding of their products, and I like the clean, minimalist packaging. I really like their overall light-hearted approach to selling their product. All around, it just sounds like a cool company and a cool product. So cool, in fact, that I was all set to love this company and it's products.
Unfortunately, after having ordered their trail razor and used it for a few days, nope, I most definitely don't like either the razor or the shave it gives. I thought, maybe, it could be me just getting used to them, but no, after a few more days of trying, well, I just don't like them.
The angle of the blades in relation to the handle seems very awkward (they're nearly parallel). I don't need five separate blades on a single razor taking up so much space that it's like shaving with a plank pressed against my face. The blade head (the plank) is so large that it doesn't fit the small indentations and irregularities on my face. For example, It's difficult to shave my upper lip because the dang thing is so big. Pushing it up under my nose results in slicing the bottom of my nose with the sixth blade (ouch!) that dangerously sticks out from the end of the razor head (this weird extra blade is supposedly for trimming sideburns, althought I can't figure out how that's even supposed to work.)
Sorry, Harry's. I appreciate the free trail, and the initial attraction was genuine. After to getting to know you, though, I realize we're just not cut out for each other (pun intended).
Harrys razors have always been very sharp and last a lot longer than most store bought brands and I love their shaving cream both the way it lathers and smells!
Glad you're enjoying the shave, Howard!
I bought the Winston set for my husband 2 years ago as a valentines day gift. He loved it. It came in a great package. He has been using the razors for 2 years now. I bought him the engraved set for Fathers day. He loves the shave he gets. He's Italian and having to shave daily is the norm for him. It even cuts through the tough gray hair on his face with no issues. I dont understand all the bad reviews on here. I use Harry's razors myself now and love it! I used to spend $$$ on Venus and Gillette, and will never go back. I just put in an order for 16 new blades and cant wait for them to come in :) happy shaving
Thanks so much Maryann!
My hubby got a starter set for Christmas but likes the razor he has, so he passed it on to me. I used it in the shower and I can't believe the amount of friction this thing creates. I've literally never had such an uncomfortable shave. I also cut myself in the back of my calf, that's hard to do, for the first time since I was a beginner leg shaver. My leg was not smooth after shaving, even with and oil to lubricate. I switched to the three day old, disposable, Gillette (3 blade) razor and got better results. Pretty pathetic.
Really sorry to hear that, Cora. If you shoot us an email at [email protected] we'll take care of you.
Very irritating and cut myself. Going to give it to my oldest son and hopefully it will work for him. Waste of $$ for me.
I just received this for a Christmas present. At first it appears very nice and the weight is perfect. Till you actually use it. The blades were so dull. The razor didn't cut your hair it ripped it out like a cheap dollar store razor. Your face is worth more than that. I would love to get any money back. I will never shave with it again. Just a big scam.
These razors are almost as good as Gillette these razors are almost as good as Gillette these razors are almost as good as Gillette
Thanks Tony!
Please I beg of you DO NOT buy this product. I received it as a Christmas present. I used my regular clippers to shave off any big patches and then used the Harry razor. What a joke! Took off very little and the little it took off wedged in the blades and had to beat it for a solid minute to get the little bit out. I also received the foaming shave gel. It was wonderful. So from here on out it's the gel with the Mach.
Please see what we responded to Dave in the review below. It sounds like the 2 of you (and a number of other customers) had similar initial results with our product, but it can (and truly does) get better with a little time. Hope you'll stick with it!
I have tried Harry's razor, blades and shave cream. All I can say is you get what you pay for. They are two dollar blades, that pull and scrape your beard off. No comparison with Gillette blades. I followed their instructions which I normally do anyway and it felt horrible. Can't beat Gillette razor or blades.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. We've actually found that it can sometimes take a few shaves to adjust to a new system, so we think that if you change up the angle that you hold the blade to your face as well as the amount of pressure you use (shouldn't need much), then you'll find that the shave improves after a few tries. Hope you'll stick with it a little while longer and see for yourself!
Okay. Why would you want 4 or 5 blades running over your skin? Two is plenty and more than that is overkill. It's a gimmick really. Seem to get dull pretty quickly.
Thanks for your feedback, Jay. Obviously the number of blades you use is a personal preference, and many people love our 5-blade system, but if that's not for you then it's not for you!
This is a classic case of bait and switch. The first set of blades I ordered were great so when they advertised there newer and improved versions I decided to get those as well, the new set are junk. They pull, they feel dull, and don't glide, and don't cut like the first set of blades I bought, I contacted harry's via email and there response was that they haven't changed anything with there manufacturing of blades, I call bull#@%@ on that. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I pretty sure they will be out of business within 5 years.
So sorry to hear that you feel this way, Tim. Obviously we can't force you to believe us, but what our Customer Experience team said is true. Our blades have always been made by the same manufacturer -- a 95 year old factory in Germany that we actually purchased outright almost 3 years ago. Back in July, we did change our *cartridges* slightly in the hopes of improving them (specifically, we added a trimmer blade to the top of the cartridge and we now use a more flexible and durable rubber for the pivoting flex hinge), but the blades themselves -- and the way we manufacture them -- has not changed. It is possible that the more flexible rubber is causing the cartridge to pivot differently than you were used to, which is why you're now experiencing a little bit of drag or pull. But rest assured that if you stick with it, you'll readjust to that new flexibility and begin getting the same smooth shave that you used to get before those changes to the cartridge.
I received my free trial set and was skeptical after being a solid Gillette user. Upon receiving everything promised in a nice package for $3 I figured what's to lose. I am now on my re-order blades and I get about 5 shaves out of the blades, it's a great shave and the post balm is a great product! Thanks Harry's!
Thank YOU, Ricky!
Original Harry's razors were great, but the new razors pull much more from the first use. I've used Harry's razors for more than a year and was very satisfied. But both times I've started using the new blades it pulled much more than the old ones did even after weeks of use.
Only reason we can think of this happening is that our new cartridges use a different rubber for the flex hinge. It's more flexible than the old rubber, so the cartridge is going to pivot a little bit differently than you were used to (the blades themselves are identical). We hope you'll stick with it a bit longer because once you readjust to the new pivoting motion we imagine you'll get that same great shave you used to get with us.
Answer: Great question, Tony! Blade lifespan will definitely vary a bit based on your particular hair type, shave schedule, and blade care habits. While there's no exact standard for how long a cartridge will last you, we find that the average person likes to replace blades every 6-8 shaves. The idea is that our blades are durable and will last a long time, at a great price.
Answer: The new blades are not as smooth as the old ones and you cannot buy the old ones anymore.
Answer: Absolutely! There are lots of women who use our razors so we'd definitely encourage you to give them a try.
Answer: I had a problem with that when I first got them and found out that I wasn't pusing them on the handle far enough. Also if you hold too close to the blade and choke up on the handle too much your fingers tend to push the blades off. When I held back further on the handles... no worries. Since I changed those two things, I don't have that problem.
Answer: Because when they changed the design of the blade by adding the trimmer, the blade lost its smooth shaving quality, life of the blade and no burn feeling. Now it burns after the shave, blade does not last that long and all you are left with is a cheap blade. If they bring back there 1st generation blades back, I will be the first one to buy them and give back my business to Harry's for LIFE!
