To be fair, I also shave my head, but after one "complete" shave, the blade was absolutely gone. Tried a second shave with it, and I might have done better with a sharp stone. Gillette costs 2 1/2 times more but I get 6-8 shaves with them. Back to the big G.
I started using Harry's after seeing their ads and not wanting to pay the high price for Gillette. I was hopeful because the ads are well done and they talk about German engineering. Don't believe it. This is a cheaply made razor. It's all plastic and has a very cheap feel. It's perhaps a step up from a disposable in that regard. The shave isn't bad I admit. I can get a close shave but at a cost, serious razor burn! The lube strip is practically worthless! The blades don't last long either. I heard that the older design was better. I can't attest to that, but this design is not worth repeating.
So sorry to hear about your experience, Paul! If you email our CX team at [email protected] and include this interaction, they will send you a free Post Shave Balm. It should, at the very least, help to make up for the razor burn.
I started out with a years supply and shortly after saw the new blades had the trimmer blade. Was looking forward to a new order but into my second blade I have to agree with most reviews the new blades suck because of the pulling. I am getting way less shaves with the new blades so maybe that's why the change! If there isn't an improvement in the near future this will be my last order.
We would love for you to send our CX team an email at [email protected] so that we can try to help you out, Gerald. The vast majority of the feedback that we've received on the Gen 2 blades has been positive, so we're hopeful that we can figure something out for you.
I am not having as successful a shave with the new-generation blades as I did with your originals. Maybe it is the design of the blade system. The razor itself is probably okay. The problem area for me is right under my nose. It is tough to maneuver, and I end up with a sensitive, raw area under my nose. A coworker who also uses Harry's blades has commented on that, too, and would prefer the original blade system. I do use the Harry's gel and the aftershave balm and like them both. I would give the original model blade Five Stars, but I am having trouble with the new model, hence the Three Stars.
Might be a silly question, but are you using the new trimmer blade? If not, this article might be of some use: http://bit.ly/2eCZQ1X!
I tremendously enjoyed Harry's first generation blades. It was the best shaving experience for me because the razor glided so smoothly on my skin. Then the new generation blades arrived and my shaving experience has totally changed. The new blades are not very good as I cut myself few times with them, which had never happened with the first generation blades and I don't have a sensitive skin. I probably will not order from Harry's again and that's too bad.
We're very sorry to hear that you aren't liking the Gen 2 blades as much, Hakan. If someone from our team hasn't already done so, we would be happy to send you a free 4-pack so that you can give us another try. Just send an email to [email protected]!
I've always shaved with a Schick Hydro 5 but I got frustrated paying so much for blades. So I purchased the Harry's razor with refills. The first time I shaved with the Harry's razor I felt like I was dragging 40 grit sand paper over my face. It was not smooth at all and the blade to handle angle is odd and uncomfortable. I figured I had a bad blade so I put in a new one... same rough shave. I'm done with Harry's and I plan to try Dollar Shave Club. If that doesn't work out I'll go back to the Schick Hydro 5 which was outstanding.
As odd as it might sound, it can take 4-5 shaves to get used to the way the Harry's blade head flexes. The less pressure that you use, the better! We would love for you to give us a few more tries before moving on entirely.
Nice quality on razor handle. Blades stay sharp! I was able to get seven shaves out of one razor! Very impressed!
Amazing! We love hearing that, Rick.
After my review of Harry's second generation blades more than a year ago, things are still the same and no change in their product. I read all the replies from Harry's customer service representatives about forwarding the concern's to R&D and wonder which galaxy are they at? Does it take so long for them to find that yes there is a problem here. I think their R&D dept. means (Relax and Don't bother) Guy's at Harry's why is it so difficult to understand that you made a mistake by discontinuing the first generation blades! Make them again and you shall see the complaints vanish in a poof!
Really appreciate your honest feedback here, Ajit. Lots of people really love the Gen 2 blades, but we understand they are not for everyone. We're happy to pass along your request for options to our R&D team.
I got the $3 demo kit in the mail and then waited for a four day beard to grow in to give it ereal test. I usually shave every other day so this was a good test. Didn't use the shave gel Harry's shipped with the demo kit because I like the Neutrogena shave cream that I use AND I wanted the only variable to be the blade when I compared to the Fusion I usually use.
So the results - I really can't find a difference between Harry's and my old Fusion blades. Works well, no nicks, no cuts, a little pulling but same as the Fusion would do on a four day beard.
For the cost savings, quality and fun way Harry's markets, I am staying with Harry's. My wife's first comment when she saw the orange handle - I want one of those!
Good show!
I have been shaving for 50 years and have tried every brand that has ever been made. I have a thick beard and need to shave daily... Been using the Harry's system for 6 weeks and I will never use anything else! The only razor that will actually cut my facial hair going with the grain. Blade lasts for weeks... I'm a believer!
I WAS a Gillette guy for years, tried others always went back until Harry's. Being retired I don't shave every day. 3 day beard comes off without any pulling unlike all the others. They last a lot longer than all the others. The shave gel is also the best I have used. Quality with a good price. Fantastic.
First off, I never submit reviews. So this is a first. With a company called HARRYS, you would think that means something. I do not have sensitive skin. I also do not have a thick beard. But the first use, (I shaved like I have for 25 years) I looked up in the mirror and seen 3 red cuts on my face neck and right side burn! What? Also the blades are so close together it's impossible to clean out the hair, even with a high pressure faucet. I wanted this product to be a lifesaver as I'm sick of paying so much at the store. And as much as I wanted that and tried until the blades were all used, I can say I will never order or use this brand again. With each new razor blade, I had hoped for the best, however, the clog up with one use, individual blades are way to close together, and even with new blades my face has a fresh cut every time. So very disappointed. I will gladly purchase a classic Mach 3 anyday after this experience. Just compare a Mach 3 razor to Harry's- the Mach 3 blades are much farther apart and do not clog. I can use one of those for 3 weeks and have never had a single cut. With Harry's it was on the first use and continued. Not a good product. Again, I will say, I don't even have a thick beard. So I really feel for those who purchased from Harry's and have a thick beard.
Thanks so much for your feedback on the spacing of the blades, Aaron. You might have already tried this, but it can really help to rinse the blades out through the back, as opposed to the front. Regardless, we've shared your message with our R&D team.
I was excited to try Harry's as what I currently use seems ridiculously expensive for what it is (Gillette fusion proglide manual)... however at the end of the day, Harry's blades plain suck. They don't shave very close and they hurt and pull... the shave with a brand new blade is worse than a 2 month old proglide. The handle also feels very cheap and light in the hand. Sorry, its back to proglide.
At the end of the day, you've got to use what's best for you. While we're sad it's not Harry's, we're happy that you found the razor of your choice.
I really liked the razor no cuts, very close shave, nice shave gel, and great price! I have compared it to dollar shave razors and I enjoyed the experience more. The razor really glides on my face. I will not pay crazy prices of store brand razors. I do not understand all the negative reviews.
Thanks for sharing! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed it.
While I think Harry's gives you a smoother shave overall the down side is the nicks and cuts and lack of pivot to your face. I have cut myself more in the last 3 months and than in the last 3 years or more. Trim blade on top is down right dangerous. I really wanted this to work but I am going back to Gillette.
If you received a serious cut, please get in touch with us at [email protected] or send us a private message. We would love to make sure you are properly taken care of.
It's sad cos I was excited to try out a cheaper brand, and had a lot of faith in Harry's, Unfortunately no one can compete with Gillette
Really appreciate you giving us a shot, Lewis. Hopefully we will have something more to your liking in the future!
The new blades drag and are not as smooth in use as the old blades. I noticed the difference upon first use.
The trimming blade does not work well.
The new blades themselves are the same, just set at a different angle to avoid clogging, provide a closer shave, and accommodate our precision trimmer. Nevertheless, we're so sorry you didn't enjoy it.
I saw this at Target, the price for Gillette fusion refills is way to high so all give Harry's a try, The single trimmer blade is crap, l never had so many nicks & cuts my 8 month old Gillette is 100% better then a brand new Harry's.
That's no fun to hear, and we're so sorry for your experience David. If we can be of any help, please send us a DM or contact us at [email protected].
First observation was the smell of the shave gel. Over powering and unnecessary when all I want is a lubricated shaving agent. Instead I ended up smelling like an Axe body spray fanatic.
The shave was rough, awkward, somewhat painful afterwards and didn't leave me with a smooth face at all. Maneuvering under my nose was hard since the depth of the head is only slightly less than the area between my nose and my lip. Leaving no room to actually stroke the razor down. Transitioning across my jaw bone from cheek to neck was also difficult and simply didn't remove whiskers.
I didn't try these to save money which is a good thing because once you convert to CAD, these are no less expensive than a top brand name in a store. Instead, I read the hype and expected a superior experience only to realize my old brand is pretty good.
I'll be donating the two razors and several blades to a homeless shelter in town. Hopefully it doesn't turn into another "muffin tops" incident. Who knows, maybe they'll post a review...
Appreciate your thoughts here Jay. While we're so sorry you didn't enjoy it, we do take feedback very seriously. If our Foaming Shave Gel was too strong for your taste, it's worth noting that we offer a lighter-scented Shaving Cream.
As for the blades, a lot of guys tell us it can take a few shaves to adjust to the new system, because the blades are set at a slightly different angle. Playing around with the angle you hold the razor at, as well as the amount of pressure you apply while shaving, should both work to improve the shave immensely, so we hope you'll give it a few more tries! Of course, no hard feelings if not. You've got to do what you've got to do!
Listen Harry, if you want to keep me, there are some things you need to change. 1. The razor to the handle bends to much. IE, I have to shave with the razor at 90 degrees. Look at the competitors, those do not do that. It needs to be about 45 to 60. Secondly, the handle is a little big to be honest. Slim it down a little especially on the razor side. Lastly, your white strip that has lubricant on it is not that great. Gillette Mach 3 has the perfect one and I would try to get as close to there's as possible. Your razor seems very basic, like a disposable one. I will say that once I figured out how to hold it, it shaved decent.
Sorry to hear that you didn't get a good shave with us, Jonathan. We have heard from lots of guys that it can take a few shaves to adjust to a new system, but perhaps the blades just weren't for you. Thanks for the feedback and for giving us a shot.
Answer: Great question, Tony! Blade lifespan will definitely vary a bit based on your particular hair type, shave schedule, and blade care habits. While there's no exact standard for how long a cartridge will last you, we find that the average person likes to replace blades every 6-8 shaves. The idea is that our blades are durable and will last a long time, at a great price.
Answer: The new blades are not as smooth as the old ones and you cannot buy the old ones anymore.
Answer: Absolutely! There are lots of women who use our razors so we'd definitely encourage you to give them a try.
Answer: I had a problem with that when I first got them and found out that I wasn't pusing them on the handle far enough. Also if you hold too close to the blade and choke up on the handle too much your fingers tend to push the blades off. When I held back further on the handles... no worries. Since I changed those two things, I don't have that problem.
Answer: Because when they changed the design of the blade by adding the trimmer, the blade lost its smooth shaving quality, life of the blade and no burn feeling. Now it burns after the shave, blade does not last that long and all you are left with is a cheap blade. If they bring back there 1st generation blades back, I will be the first one to buy them and give back my business to Harry's for LIFE!

Shaving is evolving. Never buy overpriced razors again. Get Harry's German engineered blades and shaving cream online for a fair price.

Very sorry that you didn't get much life out of our blades, G s. Each blade last 7-10 shaves on average, but that definitely varies from person to person. If you ever have any additional questions or concerns, we'd love for you to send us an email at [email protected].
