Last year I ordered items to be sent to two persons. In both cases, they did not include the personal messages that I said I wanted sent. Some of the food items were stale. I was informed of delivery dates that kept getting pushed back with no reason. This year I thought I would give them one more chance. The person who answered my call was very difficult to understand. WHY CAN'T THESE COMPANIES HIRE PEOPLE WHO CAN SPEAK DECENT ENGLISH? She insisted that I give her my actual home address instead of the UPS store that I use as my mailing address. Nothing I wanted to order was going to be sent to me and no other company that I have ever ordered from has ever insisted on my actual home address. I told her to forget it and I have now told H&D to remove my name from their mailing lists. Absolutely the worst service and product I have ever experienced from any mail order company.
This is the third time I've order Harry & David and the third time they slightly screwd up. Three out of three gets you one star.
This time, they happily charged me for delivery on a specific day and missed it by a week. Then I had to jump through hoops to get that charge refunded.
Harry and David pears are delicious. Some have been on the small side but still my favorite fruit of the holiday season. Stay away from the baskets with cookies. The one we received had all different kinds of Christmas cookies along with the pears. All of the cookies were "hard tack" stale. They were pretty bad. Just stick with the fruit.
I placed an order on September 18th - it is now October 24th - still nothing! Never order again from this company!
I was notified the passport would be renewed. I immediately replied and cancelled the service. Three weeks later they charged me for the Celebrations Passport. I tried to get rid of it last year,and gave up after 32 minutes of agents and being on hold. So this year I cancelled it before renewal, and they charged me again. 1st call did not get through to the correct department. The agent gave me their phone number - it was the wrong number. Called again today and insisted on a cancellation of everything, removal of my information, and a refund. After 35 minutes and two agents, they finally stopped trying to sell me other stuff and/or pay me off and said they would issue my refund. I hope so - I don't want to go through this again. I will never do business with them again.
Have tried H&D several times because the products look/seem good, but they fail routinely and sometimes in spectacular fashion (e.g., failing to ship a Christmas gift and not notifying me until the day before scheduled delivery). Moreover, when they do fail - which appears to be the usual case - there is no evidence of embarrassment or concern on the part of the company representatives; rather, they make claims about their success rate! To make matters worse, when they fail, they are then persistent in pushing the buyer to pick an alternative product (why would anyone do that?) rather than provide a refund. Clearly a company with a terrible culture and absolutely no misgivings about their business model.
I sent this Peppermint cheesecake as a birthday gift.
I asked the friend who received it to send me pictures of the cheescake delicered to her.
To be totally honest, I embarassed that I sent this to her.
Extremely small!
Decoratively- The product looked poor, no peppermint flecks on the top, it did not look complete.
I have used this company for 1-800- flowers many times and have always received what I expected.
But I won't ever order any items from Harry &David again.
Extremely disappointed.
I will be doing this review again on Google, so I can upload pics of this cheesecake.

I placed my order of Triple Treat Deluxe Summer Fruit ($97.69) on July 31st. It was delivered on August 25th. I contacted customer service on 8/26 about half of my peaches having mold on them and the others were tasteless. Out of the 3 fruit ordered, only the nectarines were edible. Customer service offered me a 20% discount on my next order and some preserves. (blank stare) Like, you can't seriously think that I'll order from you again! Also, I still haven't received the preserves!
Last year, I used the website to renew my order for the same people, but with slight changes from the previous year's order. Website kept making incorrect changes/could not make changes when I inputted the changes I wanted to make. So, I called to renew the order. Foreign worker answered phone. Could not get my order straight. Got transferred to U.S. customer service rep. She apologized and said that for next year, to request a U.S. rep to take my order.
Today, I forgot to request that, and again it was(very polite) verbal hand-to-hand combat with a foreign order taker - for a simple order, again with slight changes. I excused myself midway, then called one of three extensions(none of which was directly customer service). Again, a foreign order-taker answered! Said there were no U.S.-based customer service reps[anymore].
GOODBYE, HARRY & DAVID. I am taking my business elsewhere.
We have been so disappointed in our fruit of the month fruit. We have gotten this in the past about 20 years ago and it was perfect……best fruit we have ever tasted. Just recently ordered again about six months ago and I would say that 5 out of the six deliveries have been completely rotten and too soft. The latest delivery was green and molded. I think it is due to the extreme heat and the fact that there is no ice bag in the box. I just dont understand why they dont chill the fruit. Anyway, needless to say we will never order from Harry and David again.
Today I am disappointed with working with your company. I will not recommend you to any of my friends. Having made an order back in July, today it has not yet been delivered and I have not received any information about it. Lack of customer feedback is something you need to improve in your work.
The plant I ordered is gorgeous will packed and shipped super fast. This is my second order and I highly recommend Harry and David
I ordered something from them two years ago. They signed me up for some annual membership. I called and cancelled and they refunded me. Two years later I get charged again (I haven't order anything from them since the last debacle). Now I have to fight with them to get this refunded.
Harry & David advertise "available to ship now", then you place the order and find out the following week that they haven't shipped your sympathy item and it won't arrive for two weeks.
It's not acceptable from a human standpoint, a customer standpoint or a business model standpoint.
Items that are marked as "available to ship now" should not be shipped weeks later.
It's false advertising, its embarrassing for customers, and it's downright wrong.
Right after making my first order to Harry and David, I was bombarded with email ads from food-related businesses. I called Harry and David. Their representative said they would get it stopped. Six months later, and though the ads have diminished I still get them regularly, and just got two more.
My daughter got me a basket with some dark cherries and two small bags of nuts. There was nothing wrong with the items, except I priced them at our local grocery for a total of $18 and she paid $72! Their profit margin must be tremendous. Will go to the grocery in the future!
I ordered a gift for my father for Father's Day on June 6th, knowing it would arrive early as he is heading out of town the day before. H&D customer service called me on the 9th to inform me that my order was delivered to the wrong address and they had to ship out a new package. This sounded odd since I just placed the order 3 days ago, but called them to see what happened. The people I spoke to on the phone had no idea what I was talking about and said everything looked fine on their end.
I checked the tracking on June 9th, and it showed that it had left Grove City, OH on a FedEx truck but did not show an arrival scan, that it was out for delivery, or that it was delivered...only that it had left Grove City. Fast forward to June 16th, I checked and tracking still showed the same thing, so I reached out to H&D chat.
The person on the other end informed me that FedEx's tracking system is just an "estimated arrival" and that their system shows everything is fine so to "rest assure that your package will arrive today". I pushed back knowing full well that FedEx's tracking system is not an estimate but a far more accurate system of tracking than their internal system, and the chat person disagreed and continued to copy/paste the same response.
As expected, the package never arrived on the 16th. I reached out this morning and had to demand a refund even after explaining what the previous customer service representatives had said. At no point in time did the customer support rep apologize or offer any other compensation for the poor customer service. Unfortunately my Father's Day gift for my Dad is ruined due to this company.
This service is terrible. Took my money. Never delivered. Customer service is clueless and makes up lies. Promised supervisor would call back and they never did.
First time customer. I placed and offer and was offered a discount as a first time customer of 15%. They did not apply the discount. Called customer service and they said there was nothing they could do with that order because it was already placed I had just placed the order 2 minutes ago. Very sad they did not honor their advertisement. Will not use them again.
My children sent me a gift package of tulips and a bottle of wine. Within 2 days the tulips were ready for the compost heap. I would never tell my kids but something needs to be done about Harry and Davids horrible products. I got a seven dollar of ok wine and a tulip bouquet worth at the most ten dollars (maybe less).

Answer: In the past this company offered excellent quality products--albeit a bit overpriced. Now the price is the same (or higher) but the quality has definitely gone downhill. Not sure if the company was bought out or what, but... I will never order from them again. They have done permanent damage to their reputation and their customer base is eroding quickly.
Answer: Why do you think any of these reviews have anything to do with Politics? That's pretty crazy assumption. My basket was 2 weeks late and that is not Political. It's facts.

Answer: It isn't difficult to reach them via phone, just be prepared for hold times. I would definitely recommend calling them rather than email, the email correspondence I had with them was hopeless.
