Received an xmas gift and they substituted 3 items that did not say Harry & David! Uncured pepperoni? Gummy bears that were so chewy I spit out? And 1 mitten cookie... no crackers but send meat and cheese? Very dissapointed... how do you tell someone don't send not worth the money!
I'd used Harry and David for Holiday presents for at least 20 years. I tried to process my order from the gift list included in the current catalog that arrived complete with indications of Free Shipping. My first attempt to place an order over the phone resulted in shipping fees which could not be removed regardless of the special catalog codes. Following 25 minutes on the phone, I gave up. My second call in hopes of resolving this issue was equally as bad. This time I was on the phone even longer with assurances from the Customer Service representative that she was trying to get a manager to resolve the problem. Following 30 frustrating minutes, I was disconnected. My final attempt resulted in the same problem not being able to be fixed but I was able to speak to someone who represented himself as a manager. I explained my previous two encounters without resolution, my current reason for talking with him because no resolution could be determined, and that I was finished with Harry and David's inability to provide what was stated in their catalog. Following all my time with Harry and David, my experience shows that their current business isn't focused at helping customers nor upholding promises that they make in their catalogs. The Manager offered to send a letter of apology but that didn't resolve the problem. After 20 years, I'm no longer a Harry and David customer.
Damaged wooden box, fruit bruised and black. It's very hard to get the centerpiece out of this box without pulling it apart. I saw fruit this bruised and small and black on it in the pproduce at our local food city. I did not buy it!This was a gift for my mother-in-law. I prefer to talk to you than my mother-in-law. I don't want her to feel bad. We have received and given your gifts for over 30 years this is the first time it went wrong. We assume you will make this right.
I placed an order for a gift basket for Christmass. I contacted their customer service to make sure the basket arrives before a specific date for an additional charge. I contact them again to double check and the customer service is extremely rude with broken English and ends the chat. Abysmal customer service. They say we cannot honor our promised delivery date and you cannot return the item either. Totally unacceptable!
I ordered a gift basket mid November. It was shipped FEDEX. It has been at delivery points since 12-1. I know it's FedEx problem but they won't investigate with FedEx what's wrong. The basket had pershible goods. It will be a total disaster.
I have ordered from them for years for my business holiday gifts. They used yo provide reliable shipping on my selected dates to my customers. This year 2 gifts were shipped 2 weeks too early, one to the same office did not ship at same time. Contacted customer service 3 times. First time the rep who had trouble understanding Englush said he could not find the order. Second time the rep put me on hold 3 times, came back giving me information on another customer's order so I hung up. Third time rep told me she didn't know why order shipped too early and that she could not change the ship date on the 3rd item to the same office. I explained that since the gifts were to customers at same company, it looked like I sent some of them a gift and left others out so I needed the other gift to be shipped now She said she couldn't change it. It is always disappointing when a once great company gets so bad. Won't be giving yhem any more business.
Horrible experience ordered fruit basket which was never delivered but they sent me an email confirming delivery. I called they apologized and had basket resent a week late and still have not received the basket. Called again and their solution again was to resend I said no thank you and asked for a refund and they were giving me a hard time asked to speak with a supervisor was old they don't have any supervisor on site bur then she agreed to give me a refund but i still had to pay delivery. After further conversation and threatening to report them to the BBB she then agreed to give me a full refund. I STILL HAVE YET TO RECIEVE IT. This is the worse experience I have every had
I recently purchased naval and sweet bell oranges, they might have been good if they were picked ripe- these 2 boxes were both picked very green and there is no way to ripen citrus fruit - better oranges by far from local grocery- these had no flavor and were very dry not juicy- careful if you try ordering them for a gift
I used to LOVE H&D - they had amazing customer service and great prices. The shipping is through the roof now and forget about trying to get someone to actually help you. I just tried to place an order totally $24.99 that offered free two-day shipping. The Standard shipping rate for the total amount was $9.99 (still high), but when I went to checkout, the shipping charge was $20.98! I chatted with 3 CS agents. After no answer from the 1st two and being disconnect, I spend 45 mintues with the last one basically lying and telling me different stories. Well, it depends on your zip code, well we are close to the holidays so you could be charged more, then he tried to sell me their club package for cheaper shipping. The website's policy is very clear about shipping rates, which has NOTHING to do with zip codes and I was over 20 before Christmas. (I also live in Ohio so I am not in Alaska/Hawaii or another country) After over 30 minutes of frustration the agent offers me 20% off shipping and I said I don't want that. I want to be charged $9.99 and the free 2-day upgrade as the website promises. They he just disconnects.
What a joke - I have also had two friends within the past few months have bad experiences. I used to buy from H&D a lot, but I think they have been bought out by a larger company like 1800-flowers and it is terrible. I will NEVER SHOP with them again.
Received as part of gift basket. Yuck. Called customer service located in Philiipines. Terrrible langage barrier. Rep kept asking me what I would like to order. Called back hoping to get a different person.same problem with the 2nd rep. Online support with live chat was only automated responses. Filled out customer survey that just went around in circles with no resolution.
This is my second year ordering christmas gifts for our family. They loved the fruit of the month club gift last year, so I was trying to place the order again this year. H&D must have outsourced their customer service as I spoke with three different people. The first one I couldn't understand. Called back and was discussing the order and the call failed. The third call was with Christina and she kept putting me on hold to verify my account. I wanted to use the BOGO50 discount but it wouldn't work on line. Which she finally after 45 min told me was the only way to use it. My order is over $800 and I wanted the best discount on the gifts. After 45 minutes on the line I finally just used the 15% discount code and placed the order online. If my family didn't love the fruit so much I would have just gone elsewhere. Let's hope the monthly fruit is still good that they get. Terrible service!

The gluten-free apple crumb pie was shockingly small. So small that I was embarrassed to bring it to the party that I bought it for.
I ordered the same gift item to be sent to 2 different people: same item to 2 people. I was told there was a problem with one of the orders and they had cancelled it. When I called customer service (a call center) they could not tell me why it had been cancelled, but offered to re-order the item, telling me that the charge on my credit card had already been deleted. Being naive, I agreed. Duh! I now have 2 charges on my credit card and no item has been delivered. I have called customer service 4 times and have been unable to get any information or help.
I ordered a product on the Black Friday Sale. The order went through. Then I received an email that cancelled my order, but stated, "As a replacement you have to select another item on the website of Harry and David that ranges [the price of the item]". No refund was offered. What? So, I called, and was offered numerous items that were not the same, and were not on sale. It took their representative a long time before they would actually issue a refund. The item remains on their site for purchase at the price I paid. Wow. It used to be a decent Company. Run away. Horrid experience.
I wanted to place an order for $29.99. Shipping was $18.98 (!) so 40% of the order for the cost for shipping. I phoned and the agent confirmed.

Food was flavorless and terrible definitely not again. Paid 600.00 to much yuk.we will be going out next year.
My Thanksgiving order was scheduled to arrive before Thanksgiving, not the day after. It's perishable food!
I wanted to send a just because gift basket but was side tracked because, ONLY at the end of the order did it indicate shipment was 2 weeks away. It was a huge ordeal to cancel and then to be transfered to a separte organization for the "passport shipping" department to be refunded on that.
Its an american company with customer service girls in the philippines who do not want to make waves for their employer and have you agree to terms you dont want like delievery dates two weeks out..
Called Harry & David contact number… I was looking for how to use celebrations passport. Rep offered to place my 5 item order. Agent did not know what she was doing. Took 12 min to finally put first item in order. Kept asking for passport number to no avail. Finally hung up because it was taking forever to just begin the order. Long time customer & very disappointed.

Answer: In the past this company offered excellent quality products--albeit a bit overpriced. Now the price is the same (or higher) but the quality has definitely gone downhill. Not sure if the company was bought out or what, but... I will never order from them again. They have done permanent damage to their reputation and their customer base is eroding quickly.
Answer: Why do you think any of these reviews have anything to do with Politics? That's pretty crazy assumption. My basket was 2 weeks late and that is not Political. It's facts.

Answer: It isn't difficult to reach them via phone, just be prepared for hold times. I would definitely recommend calling them rather than email, the email correspondence I had with them was hopeless.
