Harry & David Customer Service contacted me after my negative review. They replaced my disappointing original purchases with something else of my choosing. I selected Moose Munch. My husband selected the dark chocolate truffles. Customer Service was very friendly and accommodating. The replacement purchases arrived promptly. My lesson from this experience is not to order anything with fresh fruit. So, although my original review remains negative, I report that Customer Service was very good.
My husband and I are T-Mobile customers and for T-Mobile Tuesday's (free stuff), we each received a coupon for $25 discount on an order of $50. I have never ordered from Harry & David's before, but I have purchased Moose Munch from TJ Maxx, so thought I would take advantage of the offer. I had planned on gifting to my grandson's family, but fortunately they could not make it home for Christmas this year. I received this box on December 24. I opened the box of pears today. They have absolutely no taste. Just bland. They ripened in the box just like the instructions tell me to do, but no taste. I may try cooking with them just so I don't have to throw them away. But what a disappointment! In the second box, one of the apples was rotten. I wish I had read these reviews before ordering. Funny that they don't have any reviews on their website. I am so happy that I didn't have to embarrass myself by giving them to my grandson and his family. I would have been mortified if he had received these. My first experience with Harry & David's will certainly be my last. Never again. I'll let T-Mobile know that this was a terrible idea.
I ordered a few gifts for others and Honeybells for myself. I just received the oranges and they are awful! I emailed the company, no response. I called today and spoke to a snarky female. She said that the reason they are green and have black and brown spots is because sometimes the oranges are not completely in the sun. I asked her if they have a quality control process. She then said that I shouldn't judge a book by its cover! What the heck? I will never order from them again. It's sad. Obviously the company could care less about their customers. There lack of quality and rude service will catch up with them one day.
Years ago I had fond memories of receiving Harry & David packages for Christmas, and the quality of their pears and apples were noteworthy. No more. My children kindly gave me two Harry and David packages for Christmas 2019. They trusted in the quality of the name. The pears arrived bruised and mottled. The apples were old, soft and starting to decay. Where did the quality control go? They looked like damaged fruit our supermarket would give away for free. Sadly Harry & David is resting on its past reputation.
Ordered (3) fruit gifts boxes, due for arrival before the 24 Dec. (2) of (3) gifts delivered, (1) bad fruit - photo and the 3rd gift box is unknown, somewhere over the rainbow? Here is Harry & Davids responses below:

It is now Christmas Day and the gift I was to give to the family that invited me to dinner today has not arrived!
This whole order fiasco has been one big comedy of errors: I originally ordered 2 classic hearthside gift baskets and paid extra to have them delivered to me on December 21. They arrived on December 16! When I called to complain and explain that I had no way to keep the items fresh until December 25 I was told to keep the items and they would be replaced free of charge on December 21. I received ONE of the items on December 21! I again called your overseas customer service department and was told that the missing item would arrive on December 23 or 24 but I would have to pay a delivery fee. Why? I already paid a delivery fee and the items were NOT delivered as scheduled!
Needless to say, the missing item did NOT arrive and I will never EVER purchase anything from Harry and David again! I will also not miss an opportunity to share my horrid experience with anyone who is interested!
I would suggest that you move your customer service department to the USA so that customers can understand your representatives and they, in turn, can understand your customers!
To whom it may concern,
I received a small tower from Harry and David today. I did not want this tower as I received a larger one last year that was honestly horrible.
I called into your customer service line and spoke to Connie. Her best advice to me was to regift it. I asked about the hundred percent guarantee and I just got the same jargon back about not being able to return it for a gift certificate to be used at a later date, just to regift it to somebody else.
I then asked to speak to a supervisor. When Lona came on the phone she had a bad attitude right off the bat. She then went on to advise me to throw it in the trash. I was honestly shocked by this. It would seem all of the "Guarantees" that you have on your website are nothing but lies. Harry and David seems to be a company full of lies and deception.
I actually took this package and donated it at our local grocery store donation barrel. It seems I came up with a better solution then your company's representatives had.
I will make sure all my family, friends and colleagues never ever buy a single thing From Harry and David again.
I am quite frankly appalled by your company and I will make sure everyone knows it.
Always had perfect special pears. Order pears one was no good. Called and asked for replacement said I only wanted 1 but they are going to send me a box with pears and apples. I thought that was amazing. They really stand behind there products.
Generally I order moose munch and am very happy, but this year I wanted to buy cashews for my mom. I was really disappointed when I opened the box and saw how small the gift was. I guess I didn't realize how little 10 oz. Of nuts is and the picture is misleading and has no accurate reference points like fruit or an average sized holiday card. I normally buy 3 to 4 times the cashews at the grocery store for about 12.99. Fortunately I only paid Harry and David the 19.99 sale price, so I was merely disappointed instead of fuming (which I would have been had I paid thirty dollars for this tiny tin).
"Placed ordered back in November to be delivered between 12/18 to 12/23. Ordered two items to go to the same address for my elderly parents. I sent an email in 12/17 asking status of one of the items when only one item was delivered. Received two totally nonsensical emails in return but finally got an email at 6pm on 12/19 advising that the item I ordered was now out of stock and would not ship until the middle of January. I wouldn't have gotten that email if I hadn't kept sending emails because the prior responses were so unhelpful. He also apologized because he said someone should have called me to let me know that the item would not be delivered by 12/23 (date promised in order) to either make other arrangements. Basically, I was penalized for buying early and delaying shipment to arrive Christmas week. I called customer service twice on 12/20, neither person could speak English, weren't helpful, and the 2nd representative refused to transfer me to the gentleman who had sent me the helpful email. I asked to speak to a manager, after waiting on hold several minutes, she came back on the line and said someone would call me back and told me to hang up. Well - needless to say I NEVER received a call back. And now, literally within days of Christmas and no other vendors can get a present to my parents in time for holiday. I had to email a cancellation request and surprise surprise no apologies from the company. I had to place an order through Amazon but it will not arrive in time for Christmas.
Honestly, this business is so bad 1 Star is too good for the completely horrendous experience. My recommendation- buy local where possible because this company totally does not care about the customers and is especially egregious given the exorbitant prices they charge. "
Absolutely horrible! Ordered over $100 worth of goodies for my elderly Father-in-law and paid extra for all to be delivered at his assisted living on 12/23/19. Received an email on 12/20 that it was delivered on 12/19. I called them and was told that, yes it was delivered and they can refund the extra that I paid to be delivered on 12/23. This was the majority of his Christmas and he has it almost a full week early. Absolutely no apology! Won't ever use them again and hope that between this review and "word of mouth", I can do some damage to their business. Might make them have better customer service.
Frustrating and misleading delivery date switch for an important gift. There was a guaranteed date that was later changed.
No bueno!
I'm a longtime customer, but when I placed my order in time to get a discount, the system didn't show a discount. The web site said the discounts applied to "all products, no minimum." I called them, and they said their web page was "in error" -- should have said minimum of $50 and only certain products. They looked at their web page and AGREED IT WAS WRONG but wouldn't give me the discount -- said they didn't have the authority and couldn't connect me to anyone who did have the authority! Stay away. There's something bad going on with them these days.
If you empty the 10-ounce bag of Harry & David cashews into its decorative tin, the result will not appear to be as brimming and chockfull as the deceptive picture indicates on H&D's website (please see the attached pictures). 10 ounces of cashews will only fill the tin about half way. The cashews taste ok but please don't use the marketable platitude "finest" for any product containing inferior and cheap cottonseed oil. For $30, a wise shopper with little effort could purchase about four times the amount of cashews, and unlike the overrated, overpriced product from Harry & David, every cashew piece would be organic, cooked in organic oil, and unsalted.
We received a gift with pears and apples from our family in CA... what a disappointment!
See the pictures below... one of the apples had pock marks and was spongy, another one had a fingernail mark on the top of it!
They dismissed the issue as an "INCONVENIENCE "... in a follow up email, and when we called the company representative was appropriate but did not put us through to a Supervisor to resolve the problem. It was not just an inconvenience. It was embarrassing to have to tell our family of the poor quality of their gift.
We would not recommend this service or company to anyone.
They did say they would give a full refund to our family members.
I came back this year to find I could not sign into my account. I tried resetting my password and the link did not arrive over multiple attempts in multiple days. The call center people are hard to understand and don't always listen. I did eventually get a link and then it was expired because it did not come in fast enough so I went onto something else. FRUSTRATING!
I purchased on-line one of their most expensive gift baskets (worth over $220) to thank a professional for outstanding service. Two days before it is to be delivered, a customer "service" representative from Harry & David calls me and tells me that their system had not included about $9 in taxes. I asked that they simply give me a discount of a corresponding amount - after all it is their mistake. "We can't do that" was the answer. We went back and forth to no avail. Then she offers me a 20% discount on my NEXT purchase! She (or the company) must be oblivious to the insult - as if one would want to ever order from them again - them not wanting to take responsibility for their own mistakes. What would be next?
Note, that although I had placed the order well ahead of time, the call came "coincidentally" when it was too late to order from somewhere else and be there by the necessary date. "Do you want it or not" was the response. What a scam!
And since then I am inundated with promotional emails - every single day.
Kim
I sent the gourmet pears to my sons one in VA the other in NV They both said these pears were sweet, juicy, and delicious. Definitely will order again for the holidays. Yum!
Tried to order on website which would not take a phone number; and when you put in the code for free shipping you only get half the shipping paid for.
I placed an on line order with Harry & David on Friday, Sept 28th, 2019. I have ordered from them in the past and most orders are processed and sent within a couple days. This order took 9 days to be received! By the time it arrived the Get Well message was stale! He was feeling much better and plus I am embarrassed beyond belief!
Took at least two weeks to deliver, and the sausage in the gift basket immediately made everyone ill.
Answer: I'll be going to other companies NOW. Business LOST.
Answer: In the past this company offered excellent quality products--albeit a bit overpriced. Now the price is the same (or higher) but the quality has definitely gone downhill. Not sure if the company was bought out or what, but... I will never order from them again. They have done permanent damage to their reputation and their customer base is eroding quickly.
Answer: Why do you think any of these reviews have anything to do with Politics? That's pretty crazy assumption. My basket was 2 weeks late and that is not Political. It's facts.
Answer: I wasn't able to order products because of the quality of their customer service representatives.
Answer: It isn't difficult to reach them via phone, just be prepared for hold times. I would definitely recommend calling them rather than email, the email correspondence I had with them was hopeless.
