On December 15th 2020, I placed an order over the phone with Harry and David for $807 worth of gift towers to be delivered before Christmas. With respect to each individual intended recipient, the salesman on the phone put me on hold while he "check their inventory and reserved it." At the end of the order, the phone salesman sold me a $26 policy for free delivery for a year, including my current order. Each of the intended recipients were close friends\and relatives with whom we exchange gifts each year. My cousin, who was one of the recipients, emailed me to thank me 20th of December. I assumed everything was ok. On Christmas eve, when I didn't hear from anyone else I became concerned and called Harry and David. After 30 minutes on hold, their phone person said the balance of the order had been cancelled. When I asked who and why did it get cancelled, I was put on hold again for another 20 minutes to talk to a "supervisor" who informed me that they were sold out of all their goods and nothing would be available until the end of January. "I apologize." When I pressed her as to why they hadn't emailed me or called me, she said it wouldn't have done any good. They obviously lied to me about reserving the product for each order. Their failure to inform me that they were cancelling my order so I could get a gift somewhere else is inexcusable. So here it is Christmas eve with no gifts and no explanation for their behavior.
I purchased a Christmas dinner on 12/14/2020. The web site said in stock and deliverable before Christmas. On 12/20/2020, I checked the web site on my order. It said "Confirmed" and would be delivered by FedEx on "12/24/2020". I got a call from Harry and David on 12/23/2020 saying some items were not available. The agent then tried to make a package for me but the vegetables were not available. The meat was available. Her computer then locked up. After 40 minutes, she had to hang up. Then another agent called me to tell me my order could not be processed anyway because FedEx had already picked up the last Christmas shipments but I could have "something" shipped after Christmas. This left my son with no Christmas dinner.
Do not do business with Harry and David. A bad company.
Based on all of the recent reviews, clearly Harry & David and its parent company, 1-800-Flowers.com are having some pretty serious problems. I'm in Oregon, and as an Oregon company, H&D used to have such a great reputation. Like many of the others here, I placed my order on Dec. 15 for delivery on Dec. 23. It was confirmed, my credit card was charged, and everything seemed to be on track. Then I received an email today, Dec. 22, saying that the item is not available and they can't meet the delivery date. After much back and forth and being disconnected 4 times from their customer service which is presumably in India or elsewhere in the world, I demanded a full refund for the item as well as their "Passport" since I am NEVER going to use them again. Hoping getting my money back won't be as bad as the reset of this experience, but I'm not holding my breath.
This was, of course, supposed to be a Christmas present. I selected them over purchasing something from Amazon, which I now deeply regret. I am so angry and disappointed. Absolutely terrible service. DO NOT USE THEM!
I purposely placed an order early enough so that if something was wrong or they cancel I have time to place another order in time for Christmas delivery. Nope Harry and David decided to call me the day before it was to be delivered to say the item was out of stock. I placed the order a week ago and you are just realizing it is out of stock and now leave me no time to find a replacement gift to be delivered by tomorrow, which is the day before Xmas eve! I'm now on hold for 30+ minutes waiting to talk to a supervisor to find out why it took a whole week to cancel my order. I also ordered another item later than that order and they called to tell me it wasn't available before Xmas but all of the sudden it will be available to ship two days after xmas. I will never ever order from them again!
Here is a copy of an email i sent to Harry and David:
Ok so i ordered a basket from you on 12/11/20 today is 12/22/20 and there is still no tracking. Why you ask... because a basket has not been processed! I called yesterday with a 28 minute hold time and a recording said if you would like us to hold your place in line we can call you back. THAT NEVER HAPPENED.
So today i spoke to a customer service representative (off hours and not from the states) who hung up on me after i explained what happened. With all the gifts basket services out there you think Harry and David would keep on their toes. I only wish i would have read a ALL the reviews BEFORE i wasted time ordering from you. I am hereby canceling my order and calling my credit card company to confirm. There are 3 days till Christmas and all i have is a fictitious delivery date. Thanks a lot Harry and David.
I ordered two cheescakes, pumpkin and raspberry swirl, on December 15 as Christmas gifts for an extended family of 10 people. On December 21, I received a voice message that one of the orders had been cancelled because it wasn't really available. Really? You leave me a message six days after I placed my order and four days before Christmas?
When I went to the H&D website to see what options I might have, the Raspberry Swirl cheesecake (which had been cancelled) was still showing as "available to ship now." I called customer service, no options were offered. I was told nothing would be availble to ship until January 2021.
If memory serves me, I had a similar experience wiht them couple of years ago. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice... I am done with Harry & David.
We loved receiving H&D fruit at he holidays, but this year we received a H&D Triple Treat package and were disappointed. The apples we received had inedible skin, so tough they cut our gums. And truthfully the apples tasted old, mealy and just not good. Uck. Have not tried the pears or the oranges yet, but our expectations are much reduced. Sad.The pears come with an explanation of the wind damage the pears endured and that is fine with us. We don't care about appearance; we care about taste. H&D fruit was one of the joys of the Christmas season.
Will NEVER buy from Harry & David again. Have been a faithful customer for many years, but this year was horrible. Do NOT purchase flowers off their site. The flowers I ordered were never delivered and they used a bounce technique - H&D couldn't do anything and 1-800-flowers said H&D had to correct. Back and forth with more than 10 calls and 20 emails and still not resolved. Will be reporting to BBB as it looks like that is the only way to resolve. Have never experienced anything like this.
I ordered a food item as a gift for someone. Considering that it was a food item, I thought the shipping would require a signature. Fedex delivered the package saying that it was placed on the porch/ no signature required. The CAKE was found on the driveway. When I called customer service the rep said I should have requested signature required. When I told him I ordered online and asked how I could find that option he could not tell me. I felt stupid and embarrassed when I got a picture from the recipient of what the caked looked like. What a waste of money.
My mil sends fruit every year. For three years they were mediocre, but I didn't want her to know bc she's so sweet. This year? Rotten to the point of mold. Forty five minutes on hold. They offer a chocolate that sounded yummy. Oh, wait! Unavailable! A different chocolate box... it's Dec 21,2020. They will be available for Valentine's Day. Seriously?
DO NOT ORDER FROM HARRY AND DAVID ONLINE — IT IS ALWAYS A DISASTER!
Because we like their unique Fruitcake Confection, we keep giving them a chance, but it is always WRONG - wrong items, wrong delivery (not by the promised date, or not at all), wrong charge on our bill — they are a completely unreliable company. … And when it's wrong, they put all the work on you to "get it right" as they falsely promise, so that really isn't them making anything right.
I guess they have survived all these years because they fill a certain niche and have name recognition. Yelp = 3 Stars. Facebook = 2.6 Stars. Trust Pilot = 1.3 Star SiteJabber = 2 Stars So it's just not me — DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!
Go elsewhere … Anywhere else!
On November 30th, I ordered a gift basket for a special co-worker. I paid extra to have it delivered in the timeframe I wanted. Over the last week, I called multiple times to get confirmation that the item shipped. I was continually told "it will be there" on 12/21 - even a supervisor assured me it would be delivered. Well on 12/19, after still receiving no shipping or tracking updates, I called again and I was told my order is "on hold" as the item is no longer in stock. After a long time on hold, the associate found a replacement basket (which wasn't really what I wanted to send but, would work in a pinch) and told me it would arrive by 12/22. As of today, still no shipping information so I called again and they told me it hadn't been shipped but would still arrive on time because the date in the system says 12/22. Really? Hadn't even been shipped yet, no tracking info and you can assure me it would be there in a day? I ended up cancelling the order and scrambled to send my co-worker another gift.
I ordered well in advance and gave Harry & David's plenty of opportunity to notify me when the item couldn't be shipped. I've sent plenty of gift baskets over the years - there are many others that are much more reliable and proactive. I'll never use H&D again.
I ordered gift baskets on 12-8-2020. According to their site it was available to ship now. It was not shipped for for two weeks later. We just received the gift package yesterday and the pears were bad.we could not eat them. I called customer service and all they gave was an apology. They could not tell me anything nor do anything I'm not sure has happened to the company because last year is good. I would not recommend using harry and david
I have purchased gift items from Harry and David for over 30 years. Although the prices are a bit high and the cost of shipping is often excessive, the products are good and they have always guaranteed satisfaction, but NOT anymore!
This year, one order was appropriately delivered, but the others went to an individual and address that I have never heard of. Six emails later with different service representatives (after an hour of waiting on the phone and being assured that everything was okay), the problem still has not been corrected.
Worse CHRISTMAS gift shopping/giving experience of my life. NEVER EVER PURCHASE ONLINE FROM HARRY AND DAVID (or one of their other copanies)!
Pretty disgusting I must say. The Chinese and sausage is nothing special can get this at any grocery store for I am sure alot cheaper it wasn't anything special, crackers are crackers again nothing at all special or great about them. The pears, wow the most damaged disgusting fruit ever and it had a little note card that says these are wind scarred pears! Yes the wind scarred them while they were on the tree! What a bunch of crap wind scarring hahahahaha they were damaged bruised and rotting and they add a card telling the story of how the pears became wind scarred what a joke. I bet the total expense cost for aquiring the items and making this gift box was $5.00 at the most. They probably sell these boxes for $50 a complete racket! Garbage!
Pears were the only fruit included with assorted treats. Fruit was absolutely tasteless - worst pears ever! Candy seemed old... maybe last season? Not worth the $$$
I placed a Christmas gift order on 12/10 with delivery scheduled by 12/24.8 days later, on 12/18, I receive an email that says the order was never processed because payment was not made. In fact, paypal had authorized payment, I had received a confirmation of the order and the order showed as confirmed on their website. And of course by then, some items were no longer available. I call customer service. I get put on hold. The call drops. No one calls me back. I write an email, customer service calls me back and what do they suggest? That I just choose something else and they'll ship it as soon as they can. I no longer trust this company and will not do business with them anymore. They have gone from a reliable 5 star company to a zero star unreliable company. So sad. If they go out of business, we'll know why.
I placed an order for Christmas gifts for my staff and family on 12/2, to be delivered a couple weeks later, at least one week before Christmas. I received several email confirmations about the order since then... until today 12/18 when I got an apology email notifying me that they didn't have the product i ordered and replaced it with a totally inferior product without asking me first. I attempted to email and call customer service to get answers. It took over an hour to get a call back from some useless person in the Caribbean, who then transferred me to a "supervisor" with a promise of an immediate answer. After waiting on hold for over 30 minutes, my phone was disconnected on their end. A total joke and very disheartening that my hard working employees will not be receiving my expression of gratitude. Don't do business with this company. Worst I've ever experienced.
Order 2 sliced turkey and ham samplers. Arrive 12/26/20 thawed! Contacted Harry and David and they instructed me to toss them and they would send replacements. 2 days later, no notification of replacement for Christmas. Not happy. Will replace from local stores. They should NOT ship to warm climates if they can prepare the shipment properly.
I placed an order on 12/7 with shipments to two different addresses. One shipment was delivered on 12/10. On 12/16, I emailed customer service and asked why my second order hadn't shipped. Angel responded that my order hadn't shipped. No kidding! On 12/17 in the morning, I emailed them again, and Romeo responded that my order had "entered the shipping process". During the evening, I noticed my order had still not shipped, so I emailed them again. The morning of 12/18, I received an email saying the package will be delivered on 12/24. I went to the H&D website, clicked on my account, clicked on the FedEx tracking number, and FedEx says delivery is expected on 12/22... and it gives the shipment origin "Ohio". I thought H&D and their pears were located in Oregon. Inconsistent information, but at least "something" will be delivered. BAD BAD EXPERIENCE. I will NEVER do business with them again.
Answer: I'll be going to other companies NOW. Business LOST.
Answer: In the past this company offered excellent quality products--albeit a bit overpriced. Now the price is the same (or higher) but the quality has definitely gone downhill. Not sure if the company was bought out or what, but... I will never order from them again. They have done permanent damage to their reputation and their customer base is eroding quickly.
Answer: Why do you think any of these reviews have anything to do with Politics? That's pretty crazy assumption. My basket was 2 weeks late and that is not Political. It's facts.
Answer: I wasn't able to order products because of the quality of their customer service representatives.
Answer: It isn't difficult to reach them via phone, just be prepared for hold times. I would definitely recommend calling them rather than email, the email correspondence I had with them was hopeless.
