Despite claims that seeds would be shipped for timely planting in my zone, most of my order arrived too late for optimal planting. After over a month of waiting, I purchased seeds locally, and emailed Gurney's asking my order to be cancelled. This resulted in Gurney's sending me an email two hours later stating that my order was shipping.
Other issues - items that were in stock at time of order, were not shipped. I received notifications weeks after placing the order that stock for specific items was depleted and would not ship.

Never again
June 10, 2020

Ordered back in April... billed me that same day. I could not reach the company via E mail or phone. I finally had my credit card company take the charge off. Then company notify me that one part of order was being shipped. I finally got a hold of the company & told them to cancel the order... buyer beware!

Raspberry plants
June 6, 2020

Ordered 9 bare root raspberry canes. Received 3 plants in peet pots. 2 are alive, the third not so much. I have reported this issue to Gurney's twice and so far have received no response. They did acknowledge shipping was short so I received credit for 6 of the "plants"

Unbelievable
June 4, 2020

Peas last year didn't come up nor did the beets. 2 Plantings of each. Decided tp try again this year. I have been totally satisfied till last year. Figured it was a fluke! Beets only 1/2 came up. Ordered some plants. Pepper plants were great. Tomatoes on the other hand. Several were dead on arrival one didn't even have a plant in it Planted 4 of 10. Looking like they wont make it either! Disgruntled!
Wont order again!

My tomatoes were on the road 8 days during shipping, and I receive dead plants. I sent an e-mail and only received an automated response.

They ship bare root plants that are already dead on arrival and WILL NOT REFUND SHIPPING CHARGES. Will not refund your money, but give you credit for future purchase. When you want to purchase something that is still in season, shows everything Out of Stock. I've had it with this BS. NEVER AGAIN!

I ordered several raspberry and strawberry bushes from this company. I didn't receive one of the Anne raspberry bushes I paid for and wrote to customer service immediately asking for a refund. After 2 weeks they Informed me I will get a CREDIT not a REFUND. I will loose $9.99, the cost of the MISSING item, as I will never order from them again!

I ordered from Gurneys for the first and most certainly the last time two months ago. When they couldn't ship part of my order, they did not apply my coupon, and billed me full price for the remaining items. A lavender and a rose plant cost me over $53, and the lavender plant has already died. Buyer Beware.

Gurney's owners are thieves! I bought plants end of March. No shipments for weeks. Customer service awful. Plants arrived as near-dead sticks and seedling wrapped in newspaper. Pathetic. Paid postage to return them for a FULL REFUND. I get an email that they will NOT REFUND MY MONEY but instead give me a lame CERTIFICATE so I can buy more near dead sticks and seedlings. My refund should be $133.92. Their CERTIFICATE is only for $105.43. REALLY? Why aren't these owners in jail? I've filed a complaint with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and am leaving reviews everywhere I can think of. SHUT THIS COMPANY DOWN!

Save yourself the headache and disappointment and AVOID this company. There are plenty of hardworking, reliable and honest seed and nursery companies in America, which grow and ship from America.
CHECK THE BBB (better business bureau) for the complaints and issues going back years.
If you decide to purchase from this company, you will be angry and disappointed. When you try and contact customer service, you will sit on hold, get hung up on and worst of if you are lucky enough to get through, you will be speaking to INDIA!
Save your money. BUY AMERICAN!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I am so disappointed. One of the items I had on my order was cancelled by Gurney`s but there was no communication about it so they refunded the money to a card that does not exist anymore. The way a figured it out is when I logged in to check on my order which is late about 3 months now and still not here. I called customer service and their representative said she can`t do anything about it because the transaction is pending but to call 5 days later and they have their way to cancel the transaction and will send me check. Today I called and they said it is too late now and they can`t do anything about it. When I asked to talk with a supervisor they told me they don`t have any! I don`t understand how companies like that can be still in business! Do not waste your money and find another company to do business with!

HORRIBLE plants.
May 21, 2020

It should be against the law for Gurney's to charge for the HORRIBLE so-called plants that they send out to people! My tomato plants that I received look like something that would have been thrown out by Burpee plant company! Do not waste you time even looking at their catalog and definitely Do Not order from Gurney!

I ordered two bare root rose bushes. They shipped them out quickly and I received them quickly. When I opened the box on May 12th the day I got them the roots were covered in mold. I immediately emailed them with pictures. Eight days later no response to the original email and the two follow up emails. Do not buy from this company!

I have ordered 4 rose bushes in the pots on March the 11, today is May the 12th, and I have not heard from Gurneys. No one picks up the customer service phone line, I have emailed several times, I have tried to reach them man times, nothing. I have paid a lot of money for my roses and I have not received anything!
If I don't hear from Gurneys in one week, I will search for a legal ways of dealing with this. I know, it is a corona time, but this is ridiculous. Will never order from them again!

I will never buy from this company again. Don't let me buy something if it's out of stock, this is a waste of my time and now I'm beyond the planting dates for the things that I ordered. I only received 3 out of the 13 items that I ordered and it took a month to receive them. Worse than that, I paid $20 in shipping which was supposed to cover all of these items, and the shipping wasn't refunded. Stay away from this company, if your experience is anything like mine you will receive several out of stock notices by mail and email and eventually have to cancel the remainder or your order, only to not receive all of your money back. I wish I would have done more research but I was enticed by the promotion they were running at the time. (The photo attached does not include the items I purchased that were cancelled due to them being out of stock.)

Not impressed
April 27, 2020

I placed an order of potatoes in March. I tried to get a status update several times, but no luck. I checked the website and it passed the estimated ship date of April 14th. Finally at the end of April it said backorder until June. Why couldn't they have said it up front, or sent me an email letting me know they couldnt fufill my order as promised?

Poor Customer Service
April 24, 2020

Ordered potatoes which according to website were in stock. They charged my credit card same day. It took 3+ weeks to receive my order which was incomplete and incorrect. No german butterballs and red gold potatoes sent in place of red Pontiac I ordered. Placed on hold for over 30 mins with customer service to be told they will not issue a refund to my credit card only an in store credit! So what do they expect me to get when EVERYTHING is out of stock AND expect me to pay additional shipping charges? Sent an e-mail again requesting refund doubt I will hear back from them. Probably gonna just put it down as lesson learned and let it go but my advice is stay away DO NOT ORDER from them.
