I stopped using groupon 5 years ago. Recently used them again with the same awful results. Some businesses look very bad at you if you are there to use their services for cheap and will use all types of tactics to get more money from you or waste your time by asking you to come some other time.
Worst thing is the 3-days cancellation period. It relies on the fact that most people even will not attempt to use the coupon that early.
If I could go into the negatives I would, Groupon is terrible! They advertised a hotel which the hotel had no vacancies. When my partner and I arrived at the hotel, they explained that they have been booked and they aren't sure why Groupon would be advertising for them. Groupon then proceeded to charge me close to $200.00. I contacted Groupon, they mentioned that it was my "Bank's Fault", so I contacted my bank and they explained that in fact it was a charge made by Groupon. I have dealt with this for four days.
Also this was a mistake on their end (Groupon), they told me I cannot receive MY MONEY back for 7 to 10 days, which makes no sense to me, especially if this was their fault in the first place. I spoke to three different individuals, one being the "Account Manager" Jay, he was not helpful at all, and made my situation worst.
I am not one to post reviews, or to complain but this is absolutely ridiculous.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
What is up with only selling a Groupon for Starbucks to those "special" people that have received an invitation? I guess I'm not special enough. Why send me the advertisement through my email, if I don't qualify for the Groupon? Why does Groupon want their users to feel excluded? I think this is a really poor marketing choice that Groupon and Starbucks is making that can't help but leave a bad taste in the mouth of their users towards both companies.
Bad Groupon and Starbucks... Bad bad Groupon and Starbucks. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I have made several attempts to contact Costumer support in regards to an issue I had with my groupon I purchased. It took 7 days for me to receive contact, and i had to send 4 different emails and start a chat session in order to get contacted back. All the deals are not clear nor are the restrictions. I am extremely disappointed and will NEVER make another purchase from here.
I have had several issues. I have written to the executives in past and have received NOTHING in return regarding my concerns of the ethics of some of their associated merchants.
Company now offers support by website chat. However, when I had an order "hang" in a "processing" state, the person could do nothing. I used a coupon on the order which was limit 1. I also used PayPal, but the Groupon site errored when attempting to link to PayPal. The order was then hung in "processing"
They could cancel the order but not reissue my ability to use the coupon. They could not place the order for me. They could not update the billing information. They could do... NOTHING.
The next day (order now in a failed - resubmit credit card state) when connecting by chat they also could not find where I could click to update the CC info. In the end they"made a one time exception" for their own error. Telling me that is belittling. I sent an email asking for a manager to call... the rep calling me back was n not a manager and took over 25 minutes of haggling with me -- wanting to know the issue - when I told them it was a personnel issue. Eventually they transferred me only to have me wait indefinitely... I eventually hung up and sent another phone request.
Groupon customer service is completely powerless. I received an email inviting me to join their select membership today. It was a one day offer, where they would give you 50% off one item if you joined for six months. So I joined, and was not able to get the 50% off no matter what I did. So I decided to contact customer service. I don't know what the heck is going on, But you can't call Groupon, you have to wait for them to call you back, and he can take hours. When someone does finally call, They tell you your problem is fixed, when it is not. I emailed twice, I chatted with someone three times, And I made two phone calls where I had to wait for someone to call me back. The second call kept me on the phone so long the call finally dropped. I received an email from one of these customer service reps telling me that because I had already use the 50% off coupon I couldn't use it again! But I never used it because it never worked! So I finally got a hold of someone on the chat and demanded that they cancel my membership since they did not fulfill the agreement of the membership, and they wasted half my day trying to get this fixed. I am a very long time customer of the Groupon. I've spent a lot of money with that site, but I've now erased the app from my phone, and unsubscribed from all of their emails. I can't believe they treat long-term customers this way. I cannot recommend Groupon any longer
I had NOTHING but confusion AND frustration when I was attempting to use a $10 off a $30 purchase using a code that was emailed to me. It ended up that I was charged TWICE and refunded ONCE for the amount WITHOUT the $10 coupon applied! I spent COUNTLESS hours trying to rectify the problem, when I finally settled for a callback, which came from AFRICA! Yes, AFRICA! Needless to say, I'm DONE with Groupon! RUN, DON'T WALK! They don't play fair and NO discount they could offer is worth HOURS of frustration!
I received an email from Groupon advertising a deal for a restaurant, which has a location a few miles from my home. Groupon knows my zip code and regularly sends ads for local deals. I purchased the deal through it app. When I opened the Groupon, it showed the location on a map, which was not familiar. I discovered the restaurant was 40 miles away! The email ad does not show the location. When I called Groupon, I was told the restaurant did not give refunds and I would have to use it or lose it. I called the restaurant manager and he said it was not their policy to deny refunds, that it was Groupon's refusal. Groupon Customer Service was no help whatsoever. They (more than one rep) would not acknowledge any responsibility for their error. I had to connect with the Groupon sales representative for the restaurant to get resolution and that only occurred because he's buying the Groupon form me. So, don't trust Groupon for pushing "local" deals out to you and know you have to fight back when they screw up.
Update: After repeated attempts with documentation to support Groupon's error, there was no recognition of error from Groupon. The useless Customer Service reps ended the email exchange with "I am not able to assist any further with your particular request and we consider this issue resolved." Thank God the Local Flavor representative for to restaurant/deal stepped in and took care of it, personally, by purchasing the Groupon. This after the restaurant manager contacted him. So, Groupon App users beware. When Groupon messes up... you will be treated like the enemy when you contact them.
Zero benefits--- That's what I get from their sneaky subscription. To this date I'm paying to the useless subscription that I was forced to pay and surprisingly, I am not seeing myself subscribed to the subscription I am paying for. I tried to reach customer service-- Zero response. Waste of money time effort. Groupon is becoming a theft.
Careful of the sneaky subscriptions they sign you up for without you knowing and charge your card a small amount every month. Then ONCE you finally get ahold someone hours later on the phone, they shrug their shoulders.
Groupon may seem like a good idea to get new customers in the door, but the reality is that it costs more money than it brings in. Groupon customers are shopping for a deal and do not want to spend more than they intended when they bought their groupon. As a small business, we had to cut our price of our normal service then pay Groupon half of what was actually sold. This is easily recovered in our business if customers would spend any extra when they come in but most do not. In addition, some of the rudest customers we have had lately have been groupon patrons. Our business will never use this service again.
Have bought vouchers in the past with no problem but since they now want you to "join" their "club" there is no way to actually contact them to see why they just quit honoring the voucher for Staples shredding service. They then sent an email advising the voucher for some odd dollar amount was was going to expire at the end of the month. I HAVE TO AGREE THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF.
I ordered a 9 piece rattan furniture set by Davis and Grant for £299.99. The item glass table top was delivered shattered to pieces we didn't even have to open the box the glass was moving around in the box. The courier service UPS advised us to refuse that part of the delivery and request a replacement which we did.
Upon phoning Groupon Goods Customer Service several times and being told a replacement will be dispatched and Management teams will be in contact via email regarding some explanation we received no correspondence what so ever. I made another call to the same Customer Service only to be told by a Supervisor called Mike that the item was out of stock and he can only offer a full refund which we still are waiting to receive at this time.
After checking online and making a phone call again I found out that groupon have the same Davis and Grant 9 Piece Rattan Furniture Set IN STOCK in grey.
We are left with partly assembled furniture due to missing parts and no table top. Its safe to say I will NEVER order from Groupon again and advise others to consider a trustable reputable company who have a better Customer Complaints service hierarchy as from those who have dealt with on Customer Service Helplines don't have a clue what they are doing let alone the products they are selling. Despicable
If I could give them a 0 I would. I'm not a member of this bogus site and never have been. All of a sudden $124 is missing from my bank account through PayPal. Customer service at Groupon is delaying asking for information that was given during the initial complaint call. Buyer beware this company isn't all above board.
UPDATE: After days and almost a week of phone calls, and emails from Groupon, closing my paypal and bank account, I finally sent an email to one of the VP of the company and amazing I was found to be telling the truth and the company refunded my money. My original review still stands, the company ROBBED me, but due dilligence did force them to pay the money back in actual money. Please still be cautious when dealing with this company.
I purchased an airfryer through this mob, when i paid it said something went wrong, and i got no reciept information (as it did not offer paypal for this particular item, i reluctantly used my debit card) what a mistake that turned out to be. I went and checked in my order section and there was nothing in there, so i assumed the deal didnt go through. As i could not be positive the transaction failed, i decided to check my bank, there was nothing in there either, so i assumed it had failed. The next day i checked them all again and nothing on groupon, and no more of the offers either, checked my bank and $97 pending for China Post, somewhere in Beijing. 2 days later the money had gone out of my account, so i checked groupon again (nothing), checked with the bank and they couldnt give me anymore info accept cancel your card, i contacted Groupon and they said they needed a copy of my bank statement proving payment, i sent them this, then contacted them again and got a different person who said i needed to send them a copy of my receipt, which i never received. They then told me they couldnt help me, and cut the conversation. I told them they must have a record of people selling things through their site, they said sorry cant help until you send your receipt. I gave them the details i had, they said we cant help you, and cut the conversation. So in a nutshell, people do not trust this mob, i will never purchase outside of Ebay again, needless to say i lost my $97
GROUPON IS A RIPOFF! BEWARE!
Purchased restaurant voucher online on 5/2019; The restaurant was out of business and we contacted the Groupon customer support online for refund; The Groupon rep. Not only didn't help me, but also wanted to sell me something else instead of refund. She was very rude and cut off the chatting line just because I didn't follow her options to take their offering. I didn't use groupon often; from this experience, the entire thing seems a bad joke. The Groupon is playing games to cheat on people's money. No business/ service worse than this, stay away...
I purchased a Groupon voucher for a particular service. I was given something completely different. When I contacted Groupon customer support they stated that because "a" service was rendered that they weren't responsible. If you pay for an oil change... you might get a car wash. They do not care. I urge you not to use Groupon if you have not already used the vendor.
Anyone thinking of using Groupon for your business "DON'T". Groupon clients for most part are loyal to Groupon. They will take your original price sell it for half that amount then give you 37 percent of that profit. Then Groupon supposed to pay you two concrete days out of the month and will be 2-5 days late paying you every time. If you get on Groupon do it for no more than 2 months then leave!
You can no longer contact customer service by phone or email. I can't get in touch with the company to schedule my massage and I can't contact Groupon to get my money back. I'll never use them again.
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
