After going through several home delivery meal companies, we thought we finally found the one! So excited for real organic food and wild caught seafood: AS ADVERTISED ON THEIR WEBSITE. Got 3 meals today: FARM RAISED SALMON, FARM RAISED BARRAMUNDI & BEEF THAT IS NOT ORGANIC.
Called customer service and advised that the website and mission statement both say organic food and wild caught seafood. Even sent screen shots when the REP asked me where I saw it. 1) that's how I found out this company is really HELLO FRESH 2) REFUSED TO REFUND 1ST DELIVERY, partial only and canceled the rest of my orders.
Back and forth we went. Organic is NOT farm raised. The 1 and only reason we signed with Green Chef and agreed that paying more for their product was worth it but buyers be aware. They are HELLO FRESH, NOT ORGANIC. All a scam to get more money.
I'm glad I went with the initial special offer but I still think at £40 this is an expensive way to receive wilted vegetables. The packaging for the chilled foods is fine - although my freezer packs had defrosted by the time I received my box (around 3pm on a warm day).
There seems to be no care to chill the spinach, rocket, kale and other green leafy veg which don't take to impact or warm weather particularly well. I've attached pictures of the spinach which is pretty much mush and the kale is yellowing meaning it's extremely bitter and past it's best. The recipes I have are fine, they seem pretty simple, but I've cancelled my repeat order. I'll probably have to throw the spinach away as it has that sweet rotting smell, and the rocket doesn't look much better. I'll have to go shopping now to replace these so I can make the 2 recipes they're needed in.
I had subscribed to the Paleo/Keto plan for around 10 boxes. In general, the recipes are great - creative, very flavorful, and easy to prepare. On the downside though is that the content of the box, the freshness of the food, and the timing of the delivery was inconsistent. At least half my boxes had a missing ingredient, was late, or had spoiled produce. At the high price per meal, I expect perfection! Also, I would like to see more protein in the paleo/keto box - most meals come with 5 oz of protein, which could be less than 4 oz after liquid is removed from packaging.
My solution - use the recipes and buy my own ingredients (with 6-8 oz of protein). It's hard to substitute some of the sauces but I've been able to find reasonable facsimiles from Whole Foods and/or Trader Joe's.
Green Chef is a food delivery service that brings you the ingredients and recipes for meals. I am a working mom and I use this service to cook healthy food for my family.
I have had Green Chef for quite a while because the food is amazing. But I am ready to find another company because the deliveries are unreliable. I have not received the last two boxes and the third week coming up I have heard conflicting reports on whether I will receive it. I of course have called customer service several times. The customer service employees are polite and friendly, they apologize and tell me they understand how frustrating this must be. That is the first thing they say every time. That's nice, but it doesn't help me. They do not know why the mistake occurred, they do not know if it will happen again, they cannot send a new box, they do not compensate for the error. They are at a remote call center and cannot communicate with the company to investigate anything or do anything about what happened. Each time they say they will "report it to the team". When you are relying on this food for the week, this is not good enough. It causes quite a problem for people. One time I understand, but two or more this is a problem. Deliveries are unreliable and that is unacceptable.
Proof of purchase: Order numbers *******, this one says Pending in the attached picture. It never arrived. Order number ******* says cancelled, no one contacted me to notify me it had been cancelled and I did not cancel it.
Awful service, all the orders I received had withered items in them and didnt have very good dates, the concept is very good and some of the recipes look tasty but they need to do more with their customer service and handling complaints, I received one order and wasnt happy with the produce so I asked to cancel my subscription I was told this was done, and I then received another order, as it was the day after I had cancelled I accepted I would need to take this order, however it was left outside my front door (even though I was home), it was over an hour later that I realised it was there and as it was a sunny day some of the ice had melted and again many of the veg had withered and again dates werent great on items. I have today received a text saying my order will be delivered today, so again I have gone on to the chat and been advised that there is no note of a chat asking for my subscription to be cancelled and I will need to pay for todays order too, as I had thought my subscription was cancelled I have obviously not chosen my food, there could be items in it that I am allergic to, they dont even send you a reminder to say please choose your items this would have alerted me that they hadnt cancelled my subsciption after all and would have saved me £42. Now another week after cancelling I have seen that another payment has been taken and when i contacted online chat I have been told basically its too late to cancel the order and I will receive it and she couldnt do anytning about a refund. Not a happy customer at all!
My daughter sent me the free offer coupon. I was required to pay the $8.95 shipping fee and use my credit card for this fee. Food was received and was okay. Then a few days later I see that I was charged $86.00
For the second round of meals. The customer rep said that when I provided my credit card for the shipping fee I had given them permission to begin my subscription. TOTAL SCAM! How could I pay for the shipping without giving my credit card? She said she would refund me 50% of the cost. I don't want 50%, I want 100% as I had no intention of entering a food plan. Plus, my husband and I are not home very often and would never be able to accept and store the delivered food. I think they plan on making $$$ off this "free offer"... which in fact it is NOT a FREE OFFER.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. PUSHY SALES TACTICS AND UNDERHAND COMMUNICATIONS.
They provide a terrible customer experience and I feel like I have been forced into parting with money just to try to get out of the contract.
I went onto the website to see how the product worked and if I liked the recipes. I wanted to see whether I liked the meals they provided. I was unable to view their recipes without inputting payment details (which I was a bit suspicious about). However, I did this thinking that I would have to go through to a final page where I confirmed payment and order.
As I went through the process and clicked a couple of times further on, I then discovered that my first order had been automatically made due to me inputting my financial details so early in the process (from memory it was literally the second click in). I had to google how to cancel my subscription - which I was cross about because it felted like a forced sale - and received an email confirming it was cancelled.
However today I had an email to say that my delivery was being made, which I can guarantee includes non-vegetarian products I can't eat. I didn't look too closely at their 'recommended package' because I was too busy trying to find the recipes without realising I was being forced into ordering. I have found the original cancellation email and on it at the bottom (easy to miss) is a sentence to say that if I don't want a first order I have to call their call centre.
What a TERRIBLE decision to do this. I am now an utterly peed of customer, who wants to warn other potential customers about your awful customer experience.
As a company you need to seriously look at your business model to sort this out asap - I have NEVER complained about a business but this was a disgusting experience. Do you not realise that on average a poor experience is shared by the customer to at least 15 people? You need to closely look at this process if you want this business to succeed.
Also if you Google them online there are lots of other reviews that are extremely negative. There are many upset customers out there. DO NOT BUY.
I got my first box on Wednesday afternoon. I wanted to make two of the meals on the weekend when I had more time. My radish and mushrooms were fluffy moldy, my cilantro was slimy goo in the package, the carrots were dried out, the kale was browning and yellowing and spotting. Gross. The harissa had no flavor. Every step has you adding salt and oil to the next ingredient. I would rather have Purple Carrot or just make my own meals.
If you live in an area where Green Chef utilizes LaserShip to bring you your box... DON'T SIGN UP! This service is mediocre, inefficient and shoddy on it's best day! My boxes did not show up on the assigned day many times in the past year, or they did not arrive at all! I voiced my opinion to Green Chef over and over again; however, they stated nothing could be done. I am amazed a company such as Green Chef would be affiliated with a such an unreliable company! In today's world, the competition for Home Delivery of Meals has increased dramatically... If Green Chef tells you LaserShip is your delivery company... Chose a different service and alleviate a great deal of stress for yourself!
The meals are fair to mediocre with Green Chef, However the worst part is the customer service. They claim they can "customize" meals, so when you ask for no pork, it means no pork. The non-English speaking rep today claims well it is my fault. How many phone calls does it take? And they take no responsibility? And the boxes are late---no notice that delivery may have changed due to a holiday or weather. Customer service not helpful. Refunds requested--no it was the customer's fault. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
Not much "green" about this service when I have had to throw away at least two items from each box due to mold and spoiled produce (kale, green pepper, onions, green beans, celery, and cabbage). Everything is packaged in plastic (recyclable only if you can get the sticker off and get the little baggies clean and dry...) Customer service was very responsive, but not worth keeping the service past the promotion.
Completely disappointed in the quality of meat, the peppers were slimy, and tiny portions. Cancelled!
My credit card info was stolen by Green Chef Employee, I know this because when I called to complain low and behold the person who used my credit card for her personal purchases answered the phone! When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told it would take 24 to 48 hours for a call back. I went online and started a chat requesting cancellation of my acct immediately. They did confirm cancellation of my account but never a call from a supervisor or an email of apology. Crooks! Do not support this company. I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one.
My family and I liked the food, when we got it! So I the first box came without one key ingredient, the second box came defrosted and the third box came without recipe instructions! Very disappointing. Will get my last box free and plan to cancel. Too frustrating and oh like many others said... not cheap.
I am more pleased than I ever thought I would be. Fixed my first Green Chef dinner this evening. My husband and I were simple astounded at the fresh food, easy preparation and the deliciousness. We are so pleased. Thank you. This is the way to go. There was Mlmore than enough food..
After using Green Chef for a few months, we decided it was not worth the money, too much plastic packaging, moldy and missing ingredients. I cancelled our subscription and thought that was the end of it. A month later they send an email informing us that our next meal would arrive in three days (so too late to cancel). I contacted customer service and explained we had cancelled a month earlier, and they had made a mistake. They refused to concede that they had. I cancelled AGAIN but they had already charged my bank account $80. Before I cancelled for the second time I tried to delete my bank card number from their website and was not allowed to. I am now going to have to get a new bank card number so they don't pull this same scam next month. Beware.
Just cancelled. I have eaten 10 meals in their vegan plan (have my last 2 still in the fridge waiting to be prepared). Out of the 10, only 2 would be worth eating again, although I'm not particularly excited about either of them. The food seems tasteless to me, relying on gloopy sauces of unknown origin for whatever flavor there might be. The recipes are more pretentious than delicious. Example: falafel made with green peas instead of chickpeas. Really? It was underwhelming and made me want to get some real falafel somewhere. The recipes assume assume the customer is experienced enough in the kitchen to figure out what to do (e.g., "in a large pot"; what's large? Why not say "2 qt or larger"?) but apparently incapable of crafting a meal plan on their own. Who exactly is their target market? People with cooking skills who are too dense to figure out what to eat tonight? And if you think you'll be inspired to reuse the recipes on your own later, think again. All the flavor is in the mystery sauces they provide; the recipes I received are pretty useless without them. Oh, and how can they constantly provide vegan meals at over 1000 calories per serving? It's got to be in the endless amount of oil they tell you to add and the gloopy mystery sauces again. Very disappointing. Expensive even at restaurant prices.
A friend gave me a referral code to have a week of free meals. I received the order with no issues and the food was good. However, I was charged $80 the following Friday. I was never notified that I would be charged or entered into a subscription plan. I have reached out to them multiple times and they have refused to issue me a refund. If you are looking for a meal plan, please consider shopping for a more ethical business. Thanks for reading.
We're supposed to be on our second week of Green Chef meals but the box is late AGAIN. My first box didn't arrive on time and apparently this week's won't either. The food is decent. Only one of the three meals last week really "wowed" us. There isn't enough food. I don't normally eat big meals so if it's not enough for me then there is a problem. I haven't tried other food boxes but this one is on the higher price point after comparing them. I wouldn't recommend this service.
I started with Green Chef on a promo with four weeks of $15 off. The first week food was missing from a recipe - bummer - but when I called to inform them I got a lot of excuses. Accidents happen but to make excuses and try push back against a partial refund is unfathomable! So the next week my charge isn't regular price - $15, but minus the $12 for a partial refund. When I called about this the women was extremely rude and said it is clear in their rules you cannot combine offers - treating me like I was annoying her. I canceled my subscription on the spot - and that "customer service agent" acted like she could care less.
Answer: Good luck cancelling. I tried to do so a week prior to scheduled delivery with no success.
Answer: Join the club. They are scam artists, who are not very artistic at that. Just scammers...
Answer: Green chef and Hello Fresh are the same company. There are many food delivery options available at varying price points. I plan to try a company called Trifecta next as they are advertised as higher quality and better options to customize meals, to avoid food allergens for example.
Fresh organic ingredients. Healthy, flavorful meals. Right at your doorstep.
