I tried to cancel my membership on May 25th as I received a box after being paused without ability to select food options. I recently had to go gluten free due to my daughter's allergies and was sent gluten products that I couldn't eat. It's not user friendly when you pause for several and the alert to know you need to make a shipment. It's always been frustrating feature. They should give option to select when you do want box vs don't want box. My cancelation didn't work and I wasn't aware so then I was charged again on the next shipment. I spoke to customer service and they would not help and refund due to cancel error. They wouldn't believe me since I didn't have proof. Very frustrated with customer service and would not come back after poor experience.
Don't order from this company. They lie to you about box preparation. They leave ingredients out of their boxes.
They just want your credit card then they cling to the "terms and conditions" you clicked on. You can't pause meals. They charge you and won't credit it back. They lie and say "the box is prepared" The 4 day window you agreed to is actually 5 day because THEY don't count the last day. They don't send receipts, and then they blame your ISP.
THEY JUST WANT YOUR CREDIT CARD. Thank God I used Pay Pal or I wouldn't have known until next month that I was being charged.
How is that legal? I did the trial and deactivated the account. However it was reactivated without me doing anything but just logging in the account. So if you deactivate and just log in to check if it's deactivated correctly or for whatever other reason, the account will reactivate its self with no warnings. It's nothing else but a scam. The food was bad and salads came with bugs. Not sure what is organic or not. Horrible customer service and got scammed a 100$. Been on the phone for an hour trying to remove my credit card infos with no success.
Cancelling took me two attempts and at least 25 mins.
Avoid at all costs.

Just canceled. The meals were great! But 5 of 6 boxes were delivered late. And 4 were so late the food had spoiled (terrible smelling upon arrival). I was really sad that we had to cancel as we did love the food when not spoiled. Tried each week to correct the situation with no resolution. Would order again if they fixed they shipping issues in my area.
Do not use this meal service. On the app, it gives you an option to skip deliveries. Even though you selected, they will continue charging your week after week. This is not a reputable company. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They have charged me for three deliveries that I canceled. I had to cancel my credit card just saw that they can stop charging me. I attached a photo of my last gift delivery that they charge me $82 for. This company is trash.
If you want spoiled meat and customer service that just says sorry for you luck, we will give you some credit towards another purchase. This is your company. Upon opening my box, everything seems to be packaged nice organized and neat (this is the produce, spices etc), however, on the bottom is the frozen goods. 2 issues here, obviously ice packs used are not adequate as the frozen goods were not frozen. Chicken surface temp was over 60degC, the sea food was in paper bag and food inside felt like mush. Obviously none of the meat is safe to consume, so I immediately contacted customer service who would not replace frozen goods, or return the order or otherwise make good on this service. I have used other services like thrive market and butcher box and always found the frozen goods FROZEN! Green Chef, you can keep your credit, you obviously need it more than I do. With customer service and products like this, i can see how you will last very long.
We paused a week on the order for Green Chef as we did not like the options, this was done well before the cut-off time. Green Chef arbitrarily placed an order for us which was inconsistent with our past order history (we are vegetarian they ordered us animal proteins). I tried to dispute this and the billing but my complaint fell on deaf ears. This company engages in very questionable business practices. They have a 1 Star Rating on the Better Business Bureau website which is indicative of poor ethical behavior.
This program is the worse. You have to put in your card details before you can view the menu. Then I decided to not proceed with green Chef. And a week later my card got charged. Good luck talking to a manager, apparently there isn't one and they take your name and number down for them to call you back. Honestly got real sketchy vibes from the whole ordeal.
We have been sampling the various meal kit boxes. Husband is an executive trained chef and I am not. As I am home most days and work part-time, I prepare dinner 3-4 nights a week. The boxes really help out with this task! When googling for 'Organic Meal box delivery' several come up, such as HungryRoot and Green Chef. I am finding not all ingredients are organic (or wild crafted). We cancelled HR due to Canola Oil in so much of their stuff and receiving s lot of conventional produce, no thank you. It isn't helping us to toss out the conventional foodstuffs because they are non-organic, right? Firstly, Green Chef is absolutely a level above HR in flavor profiles and produce. The plant-based/vegan options appear to be predominately organic. I wish there were ways to order ONE meal for one person and another for another member of the household who perhaps wants meat but the other is Vegan. Most recently, I ordered the steak and shrimp for my husband who stated it was tasty! That said, the meat was not grass-fed, organic etc. When my husband buys meats, he buys organic, wild, or Halal, and grass-fed, so this was a step down but much higher cost. We sprung for ricotta pancakes for a weekend brunch at $26 for two people and that was very disappointing in that every ingredient was conventional, non-organic. Again, we would never not buy organic flour, eggs, dairy...so that was tossed and wasted...and very expensive. We absolutely have been enjoying their vegan meals, which is what we signed up for and MOST of those ingredients have been organic. One of the most troubling things is that there is no easy way to review or ask a question about your meal, talk about an issue, etc, on the site. If your tomatoes were wrinkled, your lemon soggy, the ingredients not organic etc, there isn't a way to really easily inform anyone and get credit. So, I am putting my 2 cents here where I can speak my mind.
I just received my first order and the food was spoiled. The cheese has visible mold on it. I will never use this company again.
I froze my account with green chef because it did not give me the option to cancel the account at that moment. Six weeks later on Feb 20 2023 I was charged for a box I did not request or receive and I received a second box on March 3 2023 that I did not request. I called to request a refund and they were rude and refuse to refund my account. I will never use this company again and I highly recommend everyone stay away because of the bad business practices. I did dispute the charges with my bank.
I don't recommend Green Chef. Overall it's more expensive than buying food at the grocery store and the customer service is terrible. We requested no pork as we don't eat pork and they sent a meal with pork. We then spent way too much time fighting with them over the phone to try to get a refund as we paid $26 for a meal that we threw in the trash. Several of the powders (tapioca powder, spice packs) weren't sealed well and partially spilled out. There is also so much plastic. A single carrot in a big plastic bag, a single stalk of celery in a big plastic bag, everything is plastic in plastic and the plastic bags weren't even well sealed. The meals we did cook were good but it was too expensive, the packaging was terrible, and the customer service was terrible. It's cheaper and less hassle to buy groceries.
I DID NOT order a meal kit yet my card was charged. I called and no one was helpful. I kept getting email responses that seemed to be ChatBot responses. I am out $41.57 with food on the way I cannot use - chicken, turkey, pork. I AM A VEGETARIAN! Do not order from this company. I did not receive a confirmation email either.
I recieved a link from a friend to sign up for Green Chef and recieve my first order for around $10.00. Upon signing up, I noticed that it was requesting my card information before I was able to see the food options available. I thought this was suspicious, but since a friend recomended it I though it would be okay. I assumed I could just cancel if I didn't see anything my picky family would like. Unfortunately, we did not like any of the food options on their menu, so within 10 minutes of signing up I cancelled. I checked my bank to see if the money had already been pulled out, which it hadn't. Most comanies do not charge until an order ships. The next morning I noticed they had charged my account a few hours after cancelling. I kindly requested a refund and they told me that since a shipping label was already created (not yet shipped, just created) I couldn't cancel and would be recieving a box full of food that we won't eat. $10 may not seem like much but with inflation every dollar matters in our household. They are intentionally scamming customers but not letting them view the menu before buying then refusing a refund.
The absolute worst. Hello Fresh owns Green Chef. In order to see meals you have to enter credit card which automatically enrolls you in subscription. Despite canceling subscription within minutes...the first box was apparently ordered? I discovered when my credit card is charged. Called and explained confusion and wanting to cancel order that has not been shipped. Can't cancel or get a refund. Told a manager will call me back in 30-60 minutes. Waited almost two hours. Had same conversation. Insisted I talk to someone now. Rep tells me he is transferring me to his supervisor and hangs up the call. SCAM. There is already a class action suit in progress for this kind of thing. Gross. Already filed complaint with BBB. Will now shout from the rooftops so as many people know as possible.
I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS SERVICES. I WISH I WOULD HAVE STOP WHEN THEY ASK FOR MY CREDIT CARD TO EVEN SEE THE MENU. THE FOOD WAS NASTY, AND I DON'T WANT THEM ANY MORE. BAD SERVICE.
I was texted a coupon that made my order just under $50. Then was charged $120 a few days later. When I called about this I was told that the coupon I was given was meant to be for first time customers only and I had ordered once before. In other words it was a mistake that I got this text and a mistake that the website said I would only be charged < 50. All fine, mistakes, but ultimately I didn't sign up for $120 and my delivery is meant to be sent for two more days but I was told that they would not cancel my order or refund for... reasons. I was offered a different coupon but I don't want to spend $120 on a subscription food box so I want the coupon to be applied to what I spent or a refund. In my two times calling both times I was hung up on. This is a clear example of a business making a mistake but not taking on the consequences of the mistake, there is no reason a delivery not being shipped for another two days can't be canceled.
Absolutely disgusting company practices, I would leave 0 stars if I could. Their competitors notify you when you have to cancel by, but this company keeps it hidden and will not allow you to cancel even hours after the deadline. Customer service is useless and cannot get anything done. Only way this company is above water is by scamming people.

Answer: Green chef and Hello Fresh are the same company. There are many food delivery options available at varying price points. I plan to try a company called Trifecta next as they are advertised as higher quality and better options to customize meals, to avoid food allergens for example.
