Best friends made here. Good Dog makes it simple for people to get dogs from good sources and for reputable breeders, shelters and rescues to put their dogs in good homes. And we provide all the support and guidance you need to feel confident every step of the way!
Good Dog has garnered a reputation for facilitating a seamless and trustworthy experience in connecting potential puppy owners with vetted breeders. Customers appreciate the user-friendly app, responsive customer service, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing breeders adhere to strict ethical standards. However, some breeders express frustration over the platform’s stringent policies and lack of transparency regarding fees and breed restrictions, which they find arbitrary and unfair. Overall, while many users celebrate their positive experiences, concerns about fairness and communication highlight areas for potential improvement in the company's approach.

Although we didn't eventually choose our dog fro Good Dog. I feel that selecting a dog from one of the reliable Good Dog breeders is very safe and secure.
From the moment we began our search for a furry new baby we were impress By the ease of using this website! And the choices that were represented and the quality of breeders were absolutely the deciding factor in choosing GOOD DOG! And don't ever feel as if you are on an island when dealing with these people. Their customer service has gone above the call of duty during each interaction. I am a huge fan and a proponent of GOOD DOG!
Purchasing an expensive pup is should be streamline.
Their site has error messages when I try to connect with breeder after initial intro email.
Going on all week and no response to emails.
Will never go thru this company
I had a very bad experience with Good Dog. I lost $265 of my down payment. Even though I paid via Good Dog they did not do anything for me to get my money back.
Background: I reserved a dog from Shoreline Pointers & Salty bullyz (NEVER BUY FROM THEM!). I paid $265 down payment in June/July. On Good Dog website they had pick up date of August. The breeder then said no it is actually in Nov. So we decided to wait. In Sep. When puppies were supposed to be born, the breeder texted me that the puppies died in the womb.
Background: in my conversation with her, she said the down payment is non-refundable unless the issue is from their end. She specifically mentioned that if puppies die for some reason then she would return the fund.
She said but if we as the buyer change our mind then it is non -refundable.
So long story short --- do not trust Good Dog's process of doing things. DO NOT buy from Shoreline Pointers & Salty bullyz. I am very disappointed in both Good Dogs and the breeder! DO not waste your time and money!

In the beginning I truly was on board with good dog but over time and with all their changes I quickly became disillusioned. I saw far more backyard breeders being embraced with no real health testing. Poor quality far exceeded nicer dogs in my breed. They've even embraced mixed breeds. I just stopped answering emails from potential buyers as with their changes you couldn't thoroughly screen people first. I care deeply about my breed and to me it's important to support and maintain a standard for breeding of which good dog doesn't do. Embark dna testing is not health testing for my breed. I've left the good dog program as I truly no longer believe it's in the best interest of my breed. They are a puppy broker which is against the code of ethics for most breeds.
Hi Janet,
Thank you for taking the time to share these concerns with us. All programs on Good Dog must pass our Screening process and meet our Community Standards and adhere to our Code of Ethics. We developed our Standards with our advisors, partners, and breed-specific relevant experts to prioritize health testing requirements applicable to each program in our community. You can read more about our Standards & Screening process here: https://www.gooddog.com/standards-and-screening.
In case helpful to share, we are not a broker. Instead, we use technology to provide a trusted and transparent platform where potential puppy buyers can find and connect directly with responsible breeders. Our mission is to help connect good with good, which we aim to do by facilitating direct interactions in a secure community and providing support to both breeders and buyers.
We hope this helps answer your questions but please don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected] if there’s anything else we can help you with! Thank you for all you do for your breed!

All for money
Now forcing breeders to. Take payments only on their platform. Con artists and scams waiting to happen
Hi Katie!
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us.
Good Dog is proud to invest in things like educational resources, discounts, and legal and business tools, all 100% free for breeders. We also actively work to bring you quality, potential applicants from all over the country. Payments on Good Dog are what make all of that possible.
Keeping payments within our secure platform is also the only way we can uphold our promise of safety and protection to breeders and prospective new dog owners. Every single payment is backed by our Payment Protection Guarantee, and just like before, buyers still have a 0-fee option, or they can opt-in to Protection & Support, which gives them access to additional benefits.
We want to clarify that Good Breeders who choose not to accept deposit and final puppy payments from Good Dog applicants can still remain part of our community and access our benefits, but will no longer receive new applications on Good Dog. We also want to assure you that payments through Good Dog and our On Platform Payment Policy are only applicable for your Good Dog buyers, meaning any applicants who apply or message you via Good Dog.
Feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have additional questions!
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
Good dog used to be an excellent site for finding a puppy. Now they're requiring a credit card number or form of payment JUST to talk to a breeder! And they're requiring a form of payment and a deposit for EVERY breeder you contact, as a buyer. They've truly moved away from investing in the raising of healthy puppies, and now the only breeders who will stay with the site won't care about the integrity of the buyer at all. Any decent breeder wants to talk to their future puppy families, and communicate to get a feel for how the puppy will fit in to their lives. Only puppy mills don't care where their puppies go, and don't care about interacting with buyers.
Hi Leilani,
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us.
In case it’s helpful, we wanted to share some recent updates we made based on community feedback like yours:
Good Dog applicants can once again message Good Breeders without placing a deposit or entering their payment information.
Breeders are in total control of when they choose to request deposit and puppy payments.
We’re committed to continuing to improve to ensure Good Dog is a win-win-win for breeders, puppy buyers, and our company.
Please do not hesitate to contact [email protected] with additional questions!
Warmly,
-The Good Dog Team
I went through good dogs I found the best cocker spaniel breeder in Florida Anastasia talkers Anastasia knight crackers she was super nice super helpful met in person she sent pictures all the way through I have the prettiest most beautiful black female cocker spaniel completely happy.
This site is very good in finding good breeders and wellbred dogs, but why I had to take off 2 points is because they allow out of standard colors which is not good because they aren't healthy and not purebreds. Otherwise it's a good site!
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us Cindy!
Our goal at Good Dog is to be a place for the public to learn about all types of dogs and all breeds and find the right dog for them. We had so much hope from getting a puppy to complete our family and what we got was absolute trauma. Our puppy passed away the same day as delivered to us by the breeder. She was so sick, weak and fragile that she barely walked or moved when she was delivered to us by the puppy nanny arranged by the breeder and died within hours of coming to us. We asked for health records and they were all made up and didn't show the real health of the puppy :( Be alert! Don't buy from good dog. It's been 5 days since we incurred this trauma and have no resolution from good dog- only asking us for multiple details but no action on breeder or no support to us. We are depressed dejected and so much in trauma to see a puppy die in hours coming to our arms
We bought our Miniature dachshund from Spinks and they are so happy! I never knew about Good Dog until my Husband said he found our weenie! Thank you Spinks Puppies in Rainbow, AL and thanks good dog for having a wonderful site! Our whole process felt safe and secure!
I bought 2 border collies September 2021. The breeder was blue valley border collies, Beatrice, Nebraska. The breeder will not send me my registration papers for the dogs. I found out after I bought the female that the mother to my female was imported and so far the bca has refused to register the dog..
Hi Cheryl!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We are sorry that you did not have a good experience working with the breeder and have not received your pups registration. A member of our team would be more than happy to chat with you so that we can help you move forward with the breeder.

Hello EVERYONE
Good dog's team contacted me in concern of me not whelping my own puppies which is false and I have plenty of references and reviews as well as my vet as a witness to attest to such accusation's. Good Dog states they want to "help the community" yet they take any one's word and use it against someone. I was with good dog for two years and instead of speaking to me with concerns or asking that I make a change to something they feel could use change or quote on quote helping their community of good breeders they black ball the breeder, decline their calls, refuse to answer texts and emails. Please explain how this helps the community? Shouldn't good dog being willing to share what could be done differently and ask for proof of whatever they feel is needed within so many days instead of completely ignoring someone and explaining what even happened and sharing what is the persons right to know what was said about them and from whom. I feel it is very unprofessional to not share what was said or what is wrong and ignore someone who has brought them business for 2 years without anyone "true" customer with a complaint or issue.
Hi Brittany,
Thanks so much for reaching out! It means so much to us that you value being part of the Good Dog community.
We’re glad that a member of our Health, Standards, & Research team was able to connect with you previously over the phone and via email regarding our Code of Ethics and Standards and how they may apply to an individual breeding program.
As previously mentioned, whenever there are questions regarding whether a breeding program is in compliance with our Code of Ethics and Standards, we conduct an independent investigation, which may include an examination of all evidence submitted, review of any publicly available materials, discussions with any relevant third parties (including vets, co-breeders, past buyers, etc.), and a discussion with the breeder.
We hope this helps answer any remaining questions you have. We continue to wish you and your program nothing but the best.
Warmly,
-The Good Dog Team
After almost getting scammed by several breeders on line, I finally discovered gooddog.com. They hooked me up with a great breeder in my state, only 2 hours from my home. The service is outstanding. Everything from the first e-mail right down to the day I picked up my puppy including after pick up, I received white glove service. My breeder was even available to me for questions after my puppy came home. I had an opportunity to speak to the customer service representative and both times I received impeccable service. So grateful I found gooddog.com
Very helpful, great experience, and trust worthy website. I was looking for a heeler and had great success finding a wonderful breeder. The interaction and response where awesome. I used Tara from Red Desert Australian Cattle Dogs. She answered all my questions and had exactly what I wanted. Tara is supper sweet and everything she tells you in the truth. I highly recommend her and Good Dog.
Lisa Darrington the breeder behind Hawks Acres, Very professional. Prompt with answering questions. I highly recommend her. I received one of her tri-colored females. No health issues. She is perfect. Thank you Lisa. For my little angel.
We were duped into buying a Standard Poodle puppy with a tooth issue we specifically asked about due to it being common but not acceptable for the breed. We made sure to pay through Good Dog and they protected the lowlife breeder instead of us. We turned down a local honest breeder with beautiful dogs because of the same issue, which is how we were made aware of it in the first place. The local breeder crate trains and works with puppies daily which the good dog breeder obviously doesn't. The response was for us to drive the 3 hours to the airport and return the puppy we paid to fly to us. Unacceptable. Good Dog then harassed us and flagged our account so we were no longer able to send messages to the breeder of this, or any other, puppy. We ended up contacting another breeder by going directly to their website and learning they never got any of our messages. We kept the good dog puppy and love him very much.
Hi Jai,

It is our goal that every member of our community have a great experience, and we are so glad we were able to connect with you and chat about your situation last spring. We are also happy that you and your breeder connected and discussed a path forward.

Please feel free to reach out anytime and we would be happy to offer any additional support if that is helpful. You can contact us anytime at [email protected], or by phone at 855-446-6336.
I give Good Dog 5 stars. Finally a great site that good breeders can post their kennel info and list their puppies on.

Answer: I found Gooddog.com and found reputable dog breeders. Breeders who have been around for several years who provide references. I will be getting a puppy in a spring litter.
