They have a horrible courtesy system and will instantly disable and then promptly sell your domain to a private company that then attempts to sell you back your own domain for many thousands of dollars. They charge nearly 5 years of service for being late on a payment for a domain even when you have been a decade long customer. They have no grace period to note and are interested in just your money. I recommend backing very far away from this provider.

My business site has been down for two days and my IT department mostly can't communicate with them 300 minute waits on phone. When he has been able to communicate with GoDaddy they have no idea when problem will be fixed.
I would give them 0 stars if I could

THE WORST
January 23, 2023

Told us that a website address renewal would cost about $70 to get it back after it expired. Guaranteed that it would register site again but didn't and instead glitched and sent to auction and we lost it, whatever company bought it now wants thousands. Had to change website address, print new flyers, change everything online.

I own an online marketing company and I've always used GoDaddy and recommended GoDaddy to my clients. Their services have always been a little clunky and has had it's issues but their customer service was the one reason I stuck with them for so many years. Their customer service was impeccable for seemingly a decade. Now it seems they have outsourced their customer service and it is atrocious. Issues take 3+ calls to resolve now, the wait times are much longer, and the service reps seem absolutely incompetent. The only reason I've ever truly had to stick with GoDaddy for over a decade is now gone and I'll be moving my clients and my domain, email, and web hosting needs elsewhere.

Wow
January 19, 2023

Worst American web services company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Hours on the phone wasted like it's 1999 and errors/bugs that lose me business!? Thanks for charging me 14 dollars to get me site back on line when you made a mistake!
I'm so made I'm sorry but I need to warn others!
Update: I called again and wasted an hour to renew (can't do it online, figure that out!) and they didn't renew for a year just the month!? I'm not calling to renew every month. I use WIX FOR FREE right now.

Unbelievable
January 19, 2023

Last year they automatically canceled my domain and could only fix it after hours of phone calls and tons of emails. They promise that this will not happen again. One year later the same thing repeats itself and I lose access to my business email account and they make me pay 60 USD to reactivate it, after wasting so much time and having so much inconvenience, I think this is simply not acceptable.

Buyer beware - There are many, good alternatives
January 17, 2023

Beware of Godaddy - They are bottom rung

Nine years ago, when I started using Godaddy, I thought their pricing and support were exceptional. However, as they have grown, they have completely lost their way.

I was hosting my company site with Godaddy, and not being a pro, I thought everything was the same as any other service. Then I noticed prices going up on all the offerings and these "auto renewals" on so called "services" I never knew I had or for "free" services that were auto-renewing with charges.
Then the email changed.

When I began with Godaddy, each domain would come with an email address. In November, that changed with my notification that all emails were switching to 365 and I would have to now pay for them. So my domain renewals were going up significantly, while they were also changing the terms of what came with them. Even the emails I paid for (for my business) were changing, including a significant price increase. Along with this, was the extensive work of backing up all of my emails, changing them over, and repopulating/reformatting each email (over 30). This was a change from a little over $100 per year to over $200 per month.

This had me closely examine my entire Godaddy account. With hosting and over 150 domain names, I was not a small customer for Godaddy. I found crazy "services" and charges that I had no idea of what they were. Two in particular stuck out: Godaddy had auto-renewed my hosting for three years (there is NO way I would have done that purposely) and they were charging $256 per year for SSL certificates - a $57 increase. I then read that SSL certificates were FREE with my hosting plan. But when I called, I was told that that was only for "NEW" customers. The NEXT DAY! The SSL auto-renewed even though the account stated that auto-renew would not come up for another 61 days! I had to call three times (one disconnect) to get refunded (the first time said no problem then I get an email saying they couldn't do it). The third time I threatened legal action.

I moved my hosting and requested a refund for the two years left on a hosting plan that I did not agree to, but that was a waste of 35 minutes.

There are many good and reasonable opinions on reddit for web services. If you choose to do business with Godaddy, you have been warned.

After ten days the domain you purchase turns into a xxx.godaddysites.com domain. You have to pay more to use the domain. So, I might be the only person who misunderstands, but YOU ONLY GET THE DOMAIN - zero ability to access it. And Go Daddy acts like it's completely beyond their capability to refund your purchase. Horrible service.

Dedicated Server forced to VPS
January 5, 2023

We signed up dedicated server at Godaddy.com. They sent a notification saying that they will migrate our server to the latest Gen 4 VPS. Problem is we paid for 3 years of dedicated server. And they decided to give us VPS. In addition, Doing the migration will affect our business as server will not be available for at least a week. They claim that they will not be responsible if anything fail to work after the migration. To avoid that, they want us to purchase a new plan.

Also, no prior intimation was provided. No calls, no mails. Just on the panel a generic message was displayed which does not even fully explain what is happening. They also mention in that in case of an automatic shift, the sites might stop working, which will lead to loss of business for us

Despite investing 1000's of dollars in their current dedicated server, they wanted us to invest more and purchase a parallel server and spend more on it. Even the price for the new server has been increased dramatically, forcing us to spend lot more.

I have been locked out of my business website for over a week. No students can access recorded classes they paid for, and no clients can sign up for classes or treatments. This is costing me my professional image and a lot of money. I have spent 5 days on hold, on chats, on the phone with over 7 different agents all assuring me they have all the information they need from me, and this would be expedited and resolved. Instead, I receive the same email again and again from the recovery department saying they need a color copy of a death certificate. I have a legitimate copy that is not in color and still they refuse to accept it. I have clearly proven I am who I am. I have also been POA for my father, and since my mom's death we have handled everything (closing accounts, transferring etc.) so I have had to deal with these things a lot, and I have not ever been treated so poorly and incompetently as I have with GoDaddy. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

I have been with Go Daddy for over 20 years - now retired and do not need the services. They make it just about impossible to cancel a product. All it gives you is "RENEW" no "CANCEL". Call them and they fight you every inch of the way. Somehow along the way they lost their morals, values, and ethics. I would have kept a couple of products, but they crossed the line - I canceled everything - totally "P"ed me off.

Latest scam
December 31, 2022

Amazing these people can't stop screwing us over, latest jerk around is if you already have Microsoft 365, they have now partnered with Microsoft basically trashing your liscences so you must pay them exorbitant monthly fees to use your email.

So stupid and dishonest provide an actual service for something if you want money for it, also have enough class to let people know about your devious trick more than two hours before Friday ends and your email transfer starts same day.

So basically your email goes down and they reduce your storage so it won't work either until you pay money to them, the next best part is they take your Emails and scatter them between 3 separate programs so your getting hit 3 charges a month rather than one.

Could you be any more devious, try not being such $#*! holes to people who made you what you are today by supporting you.

I she screenshots of all this and everything work perfect before your so called bogus upgrade, which is ok upgrade but a way for you to make millions of dollars by screwing over your customers.

I'll be looking for Wes hosting somewhere seals for my many companies you currently host thank you.
Thank you for showing me exactly how much you care about your customers, I'll make sure not to give you any more business and I hope your stock tanks as a result of this obvious scam.

FAILED Customer service, holds your domain hostage
December 26, 2022

My email address was missing after unauthorized transfer to 365 platform. The godaddy site wouldn't allow me to recreate my address. After over an hour with customer service, they did not do ANYTHING to help, they did not comprehend that my address was missing and site was not malfunctioning and just kept spewing that emails were transferred. I decided to transfer my services to another company. They're refused to cooperate, after I requested authorization codes 5 TIMES in writing (their site instructions were fraudulent, they directed you to things that didn't exist). When I put the transfer through, they rejected it several times. I'm still dealing with this.
Of course they refuse to refund any if the 5 years they automatically renewed my domains for, before they sprang their charges without consent.
