Update: Apparently there is a difference in units. The previous "generic" ice maker I installed a year or so ago was much louder, and the metal lift arm didn't work. It was too short and while I tried to install the original unit it still didn't turn off ice making when the ice container was full.
This unit does. Very satisfied.
