I purchased a side by side refrigerator about 2 years ago. About 6 months ago I noticed that some of my ice cubes were brown in color. I changed the water filter but that did not fix the issue. I took out the ice tray and the shelves and noticed that the screws that attached the ice maker to the back of the freezer and the screws on the ice maker where all rusted. I called GE and reported this to them and they told me that a technician needed to come out to inspect the refrigerator but since the refrigerator was out of warranty that I would have to pay a $125 service charge just to have the technician look at the freezer. Why should I have to pay for GE utilizing inferior parts?
I purchased a brand new GE washing machine recently. After less than 2 months, it won't drain or spin. I had a warranty on it so I called to have it repaired. They won't send someone to fix it for 10 days. Not only is the equipment defective, they won't repair in a timely manner
My brand new dryer pick up exactly one year.poor warranty. I called them but told me to trash lf I couldn't repair with money
I spent over 2600.00 dollars for a ge profile counter depth, French door refrigerator has to replace middle top led light bulb every 8 to 12 months at 13 or more bucks I replace it my self due to service charge is almost 200 bucks
I bought this stove 6 months ago from Home Depot. I will never buy another GE & I will never buy an appliance from Home Depot. The stove and oven work fine, but the glass top is truly crap. I had a Maytag glass top for ten years that looked brand new when it went out. I'm very picky about clean stove top and know how to clean these. I clean right after each use. The glass top on this stains from just boiled water. I had never had that with the Maytag glass. When I called HomeDrpot on this they gave me a number to talk to someone related with the GE. He said he has the same problem with his at home and basically said live with it. I have had this for only 6 months. What's it going to look like in a year or more? Crappy glass! Never again.
Owned GE clothes washer for almost 6 months and was only able to run it 7 times. It's a piece of junk. They agreed to replace it... with the same model. Hopefully this one will work.
Refrigerator broke under warranty. Tech has missed 3 appointments. Going on a month. Never buy GE!
Junk dryer
Dryer model # GTD42EASJWW
Purchased from Home depote
1 week after delivery it started dropping screws out. Come to find out the dryer had been dropped although the box was in good shape, service tech came out and order a top for it. He had to straighten out some of the sheet metal with a hammer to be able to put the top on. 8 months later he returned to repair a electrical wire which caused the dryer to stop heating. He spliced a wire instead of replacing the harness and installed another heating element. He also showed me that the drum was warped. We purchased GE because we thought they would take care of the customer. I have requested a replacement of the dryer which We are still waiting on instead of just patching it up. We were upgrading our appliances starting with the washer and dryer. I don't think we will replace the other appliances with GE. Ge don't take care of the customer like they should. With the Chassie warped I don't see this dryer lasting at all. My Wife is afraid to use it. She is afraid it is going to catch the dryer and the house on fire. GE make this right. We didn't buy a used dryer we want a new one that we paid for! If there was a lower review star like 0 thats what it would get.
Having worst experience bought a monogram high end refrigerator had it for a few months constantly breaking not cooling or over cooking had few technicians come out from ge helped for a few days they refuse to replace it spent tons of $ on it and they keep sending repair parts horrible service horrible product had to throw away tons of food numerous times I would run so far away from this company and their products
I bought a GE profile fridge and spent over $3K and it hasn't worked in the 2.5 weeks that I have it. GE sent a senior technician from ELITE appliances to look at their fridge, and he DUCT TAPPED the air vents so that the food in the deli drawer, and vegetable drawers would no longer freeze. He left with that as a means to manage the airflow on my new fridge! I called GE on Monday afternoon when I got home and told them this was unacceptable. They said they would call the repairman back. I called on Tuesday and asked for a manager there was none available. I called on Wed and managed to speak to a customer relations person who recalled the same technician that came on Monday to come back on Friday. Now he confirmed that he will TRY a new air tower. It will take about a week to get the part then they will call me back and set up a time to come install it. He also said he would get an extra gasket to see if that would help. I asked him if that didn't work, will I get a new fridge he said NO a they would call the engineering department and see what else they could try. MEANWHILE I HAVE NO FRIDGE. IT DOES NOT WORK. IT FREEZES EVERYTHING IN THE DELI DRAWER AND THE VEGETABLE DRAWERS. So in another week I may have a working fridge, and I may not. The ice after two weeks is still cloudy, but it's not a defective fridge right? The air leaking from the freezer does not mean it's a DEFECTIVE a fridge, and certainly the fact that it hasn't worked since the day I got it delivered from the BRICK who will not take it back until GE declares it defective, doesn't need to be done in a timely manner coz no one really needs a fridge that badly right GE! UNBELIEVABLE. The image below is of the duct tape the sr technician GE sent placed on the vent to manage the air flow.
Junk company. Never buying a GE product again. Less than 8 years and have to get a new refrigerator. Stay clear of GE
I will NEVER purchase anything made by General Electric for my home or my business. I work for a non-profit animal shelter. We bought a washer/dryer set in September of 2022. We began having issues with the washer in December of 2022. I have called multiple times to have the machine serviced since it is still under warranty. Not only was I originally told there was no repair person in my area, but after much arguing with General Electric, I was finally able to set up something to have the washer serviced. 1st company was a no show. Not even a phone call. 2nd company showed up and was supposed to return with the part needed. Never saw him again. Now we have no washer. Basically stealing from a non-profit organization. If I could put negative stars as a rating, I would.
Just finished paying for this atrocious washer, it never washed well at all, its not cycling or working electronically, the con is they only cover one year, and as soon as that year is over it breaks. GE are fraudsters, the model I have from all the rest are covered for 5 years but the one I have is only covered for one year. I hope that company goes bankrupt and never steals from people again.
I brought a GE dishwasher last year, along with the insurance that was nearly half the price of the appliance itself at PC Richard & Son, but the insurance is actually run by GE. At the time, I thought this was fantastic. Our dishwasher stopped running, and we called them up. The GE tech came in looked at it for maybe 30 seconds got back up and told me mice chewed through the wires and GE refuses to repair or replace it because the damage was "outside of there policy". Even after I took care of the mice problem, they won't do anything because the mice "could come back."
I can't control everything that happens in life. That's why I got the insurance in the first place. Go with another company don't buy GE they are clearly lazy and can't be bothered to help people besides telling them they have to go spend a grand they dont have and get a new washer. When I buy another dishwasher, I won't even look at GE.
I have a GE Refrigerator with French door. There is a small spring under the left door flap which is broken. GE wont sell the spring alone which is about 5-10 $ for any other manufacturer, rather they ask to buy entire flap for $145. This is robbery.
The dishwasher is 5 only years old and has completely failed. I researched its problem and replaced the User Interface circuit board and it worked properly for one full day. It is now completely inoperable, AGAIN. Clearly, more is wrong with this piece of junk. Buying more parts to fix is a losing battle because it is if such poor quality. I have had lower end Whirlpools that lasted 20 years and now my 5 year old GE is landfill fodder. Our GE range is junk, also...it's grill top scratched terribly in the first week and the paint and numbers are peeling on the burner control knobs. Truly, some of the worst quality appliances ever in my lifetime. DO NOT waste your money on GE JUNK. Do not bother wasting you time and money on replacement parts because there are so many quality issues with these sub-par appliances. Put you money towards any other appliance other than GE.
ORDERED A GE WATER FIILTER WAS TO ARRIVE IN FIVE DAYS. NEVER ARRIVED
TALKED TO MR. NORTON WHO SAID HE WAS THE MANAGER.WAS TOLD THAT FEDEX HAD IT. IT WAS IN INDIANA AND THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO ABOUT IT. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA. NOT EASY TO RUN DOWN TO INDIANA AND ASK ABOUT IT. THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT TRY TO HELP YOU.JUST WANT YOUR MONEY THEN TELL YOU TO ( P**** OFF) BEWARE TO NOT ORDER ANY THING FROM THEM YOU'LL JUST LOSE YOUR MONEY. THE VERY WORST PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH.SAVE YOUR MONEY (BUY FROM SOME ONE ELSE)
We purchased a 36" 27 cu ft french door refrigerator with bottom freezer in November 2018, about 4.5 years ago. This past week the refrigerator stopped working. Freezer was still working properly, even making ice but fridge was not operating at all. We googled what could be wrong with it, cleaned everything, unplugged it for more than 24 hours in case it was a defrost issue (iced up) but nothing worked. So we had an appliance repair man come to our house on Friday afternoon. He said that the wiring harness was corroded, that it could not be repaired or replaced because the wiring runs through the walls of the unit with styrofoam added. So I called General Electric, spoke with a manager both on Friday afternoon and just now and they will do absolutely nothing for us - DUE TO THE AGE OF THE UNIT! It's not even 5 years old. Totally ridiculous that they are allowed to make this crap and take zero responsibility for it. Our repair man said he has never encountered this issue before and he even called tech support at GE - who suggested that we call to speak with a manager about perhaps getting a discount on a new refrigerator. Well, the answer was NO and, to be honest, I wouldn't want another GE product anyway. So today I am going to the appliance store to pick out a new fridge that is not GE and, fingers crossed, that we get more than 4.5 years out of it! I'm giving this company a zero rating (although they made me choose)!
I purchased this dishwasher just under 3 years ago. I could not believe it died in such a short amount of time. We are only two people in this house and use it very little. Repairing it would cost $500. I will never buy another GE appliance again.
DO NOT i repeat DO NOT buy a GE refrigerator.i had my defrost go out in my freezer and everytime the new part arrives its damage. I have to manually defrost my new freezer and the customer and consumer department will not help me with anything. I told them i ve been dealing with this issue for 4 months and they interrogate me like im not telling them the truth about my issue! GE SUCKS
Answer: SCAM! $800 EXPEND IN LESS THEM 4 YEARS AFTER MOVE IN A NEW HOME WITH GE APPLIANCES-GARB COMPACTER, ICE MAKER AND NOW, THE WATER FILTER HEAD... PURE SCAM... PRODUCTS ARE MADE TO BREAK!
Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
Answer: I sure would entertain joining such an endeavor! They deserve to get a kick in the ass if you ask me.
