We've lived in our home full time for a year, and there are just two of us (both retired) Our 2 yr. New Door-In-Door Refrigerator began having problems with the water dispenser, which ended up being because the freezer fan had stopped working. We had to have three GE Service calls in one month. All three repair technicians had NO record of our previous repair appointments. A new freezer fan had to be ordered on the 2nd visit. The technician never called us to confirm that he ordered the fan (as he promised to do) and he scheduled our 3rd appointment without even telling us the day or time! When the 3rd visit happened, the technician had no records of either of our previous repair calls. I've used GE Profile appliances for 16 years. This will be the last one we purchase. I didn't mention that I had to update our address 3 times in the GE website, and the 3 Wisconsin repair techs called prior to their appointments all asking where our old CA address was!
Without knowing (but how could I find out in advance?) the GE 30" Free-Standing Electric Range has no count-down display for preheating. The online manual is no help whatsoever and there is nothing to indicate this problem on the range until one buys it, installs it, and turns it on. So how can one determine the amount of minutes/seconds it will take to preheat the oven at a particular temperature? I have never had an oven that did not have a count-down display for preheating. It is sometimes very inconvenient not to know what the lapse of time is before placing a dish in the oven. Sometimes a particular dish (such as a soufflé) must be placed in the oven at the optimum time for the dish to be successful, wherein delaying or extending preparation will have a negative effect. Sometimes guests or members of the household need this information. There ought to be a helpful chart available for customers who purchased this oven without being informed about its preheating problems. When discussing this with a CSR, I was told that they couldn't add such a feature due to individual variations in consumer use: such things as number of racks, humidity in the room, temperature in the room, temperature of the dish to be cooked, and so on. I was told to make up my own chart. In the process of doing their work for them, I discovered that all preheat times are about 30% longer than those of any other oven I have owned. Poor manufacturing and design decisions. I would never have purchased this product had I been informed of this unnecessary omission. I wonder what else will materialize and suggest that you purchase from a different manufacturer. If you look briefly, you will see that GE is not favored very highly.
I will never buy a nother GE appliance a Gan their customer service is horrible they don't return calls and they don't show up for your appointments
I will give zero star but this site won't let me.
I don't recommend any GE products. Their service will torture you and take more money from you.
I bought GE washer/dryer but washer did not start. They tried to replace a chip but they found chip was back ordered about 2 months after they said it would be shipped for 2 weeks. So GE decided to replace the unit. The unit arrived but any person GE sent could not install the unit. This process was repeated for 5 times. GE tried another vendor to install but they were booked so they could not come out. GE finally told me to get a local installer and they would reimburse the cost. They could finally installed. I could wash for the first after 2 moths of calling/waiting/frustrations. I got a check from GE reimbursement, $150. I submitted the invoice received from the local installer which was $294. GE said they told they would reimburse up to $150, which I was never be aware nor confirmed. A manager of customer relationships, Tiera said she listens to the recording so this is the end of discussion. I am asking for higher manager but she said she is the highest possible. I spent more than $1000, the product was bad, and GE made me spend more. This is absolutely the worst dealing with any manufacturers, customer services through my life. They don't care how long, how much their customer is suffered or if the customer feels tricked, or anything. I totally NOT recommend anyone go through this.
I tried posting this review on GE website while looking for new replacement knobs for my GE stove top but they refused to accept it. So I will post it here.
( I have had it with GE products. When replacing kitchen appliances we purchased new GE refrigerator which we promptly exchanged the next day with an LG which was so much quieter. We also purchased a new GE built in microwave which cooks unevenly and has a plastic panel instead of glass so it has fine scratches from cleaning. The GE oven broiler sends smoke throughout the kitchen every time. The GE Cafe stove knobs brake because they are made with cheap plastic parts and expensive to replace). On the positive side I will say they look great.
We bought a washer and dryer in May, 2020. The washer bleaches our colored clothes after a bleach load. We were told we had to do a separate rinse cycle after using bleach in a wash. Wasn't told that in the store. The drier sensors do not work well either. Clothes are always damp and need restarting sometimes a couple of times. Too many better options out there. Don't buy GE.
We bought a appliance pkg 3 years ago. A upgraded one. Our dishwasher broke in less than two years. All the seals so it was worthless and we had to buy a new one. Then six months later the main lg burner broke on my glass top which could have caused a fire. Even with my husband fixing it. It will be 150.00. I would rate a 0 if I could. Don't buy GE.
My brand new refrigerator stopped working after 61 days after it was delivered and installed due to a manufacturer's defect. This was on August 26th. The service technician that came out on Sept 1 said the unit could not be repaired due to a huge flaw in the copper plumbing piping underneath. It is now September 23, and not only have I NOT received a new refrigerator from GE like they promised, the customer service agents do not care about helping and continuously give contradicting information and no one can tell me where the unit is in the delivery process. Now that I have asked for a refund, GE is telling me that they do not "buy back appliances that they have available in their warehouse". If the units are available, why am I STILL without a working refrigerator 3 weeks after the exchange order was submitted and processed?! It seems like GE is doing absolutely anything to not deliver a new refrigerator, and now they are doing everything possible NOT to give me a refund for the unit - even as far as contradicting themselves in writing in service emails. We are talking about a refrigerator here - and I have a newborn and a toddler and we live in South Florida and it is summer! SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND ENERGY AND TEARS, DO NOT BUY ANY GE APPLIANCES! If you think this is a fluke, search GE appliance reviews online and look at the countless customers who have had issues EXACTLY like my situation and they also cannot get GE to take care of their issue. GE, the customer service of your employees and the lack of any care for your customers, has lost you several customers today. My family and I will no longer purchase a single thing from GE.
If you purchase GE there's no customer service. Show chat line doesn't work.
They don't stand behind their product or warranty. Won't answer phone.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
I bought 9 GE appliances for a house. The warming drawer (I have owned 2 before) makes loud popping noises constantly. This happens about 20 to 25 times over a 24 hour period. I keep them on for my Sabbath for 24 hours at a time. The repair man that came out said "They are making them out of lighter material than before and they unfortunately pop a lot". I called 2 times to customer relations and left a number on the call back system and they did not call back.
Good: Ease of scheduling and technician very good.
Horrible: Company itself. Diswasher leaked. Seems the foam piece was too large from the vent assembly. Tech said he was replaced over a hundred with a thinner one. (New one costs $25 - cost GE probably pennies)
Service call $99 that covered transportation only. Tech spent less than 10 minutes replacing but the charge was $64 to do that. $99 plus $25 plus $64. This is price gouging AND for a GE defect! We should have been contacted, sent the piece with directions how to replace-SIMPLE! I have lost all respect for this company. Photo. Pink -old yellow-new piece
We purchased a GE appliance, and customer service is be nonexistent. I sent an email about 30: days ago. I sent several follow up emails, and still no response. Don't buy from GE
My parents Ge dryer timer is so hard to turn it keeps breaking the knobs. Bought a new timer and it just as hard to turn. They have several super cheap gears in them that bind up and make it super hard to turn. Never buy a GE dryer.
I purchased a GE Microwave in 2019 with a 1-yr warranty. In 1-yr and 3 months the light under the microwave went out which was surprising because I hardly ever use them. When I tried to unscrew the light bulb to change it the entire plastic light assembly box BROKE IN MY HAND and the light bulb broke off in the socket. Of course, it won't be covered under my warranty because I am a 3 months beyond it. A service technician costs minimum $120 just to come out and see what is wrong, that isn't even including the cost of the part. I paid approx $400 for the microwave and the tech is going to cost me a good portion of what I paid for the entire microwave! I would not recommend buying GE products as they are all made in China today. CHEAP and a piece of crap! And then GE wants to charge you an arm and a leg just to "diagnose" it. No Thanks. If you are looking for a quality product, I would highly recommend looking at any other brand.
My brand new stateless steel oven, 3 months old, is rusting and I have only ever used stateless steel cleaner on it and they tell me there's nothing they can do.
We moved into a new home with GE profile appliances. The refrigerator failed and GE couldn't schedule service for a week later, when I called back the customer service rep cancelled the appointment for 7 days later and then told me the earliest she could get someone out to us was 10 days later. I asked why she cancelled my original appointment and she couldn't answer me. I am terribly disappointed and our a few hundred dollars of food that spoiled.
I purchased a GE Profile Cooktop 2/19. The 5 knobs on the cooktop have deteriorated to the point that the "chrome" finish is peeling off to expose white plastic underneath. I have spent hours contacting Customer Service, Parts Department and their extended warranty department and have been told that there is no one in authority to make a replacement for the knobs.
Model PGP9030SL1SS!
I purchased a stove and microwave in early June - GE Cafe gas range and microwave. There was a manufacture sale. So I purchased them. My own Stove and microwave were totally broken. I get a call every two weeks from GE saying it's still on back order. Today they went to a month - on back order until September 24th. This is disgusting. Right now they are offering a manufacture sale on my same appliances through Canadian Appliances. They have no stock! What are they doing. Poor unsuspecting people. I just got upset with the poor woman who told me about the delay. All while the CEO and his old guard cronies make millions and don't have to take the flak for their disgusting decisions. The poor woman used Covid as an excuse. If you can't get part why are you having a sale, why did you take my money right away.
Order placed on 8/17, product still haven't been received. Shipment date changes everyday. Meanwhile, my family and I are living out of coolers... GE use to be reliable, not any more!
GE Dishwasher did not work from the beginning and GE tortured me by having the tech come out DOZENS OF TIMES to replace and re-replace the same parts over and over again. We bought the extended warranty through Assurant and they did the same until I couldn't take it anymore and bought a Bosch which works wonderfully! All in all over a two year period I had the GE tech in my house dozens of times, I was without a working dishwasher for weeks, nightmare!
Answer: SCAM! $800 EXPEND IN LESS THEM 4 YEARS AFTER MOVE IN A NEW HOME WITH GE APPLIANCES-GARB COMPACTER, ICE MAKER AND NOW, THE WATER FILTER HEAD... PURE SCAM... PRODUCTS ARE MADE TO BREAK!
Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
Answer: I sure would entertain joining such an endeavor! They deserve to get a kick in the ass if you ask me.
