I renovated my kitchen with a GE refrigerator, Microwave, stove, and dishwasher. Everything except the dishwasher broke in less than 6 months. I called to get a service person over, they gave me a 9 hour window to be home, I took off of work and the service person didn't show up and never called.
BUYER BEWARE! Just because you buy something NEW doesn't mean NO STRESS and NO HASSLE! Something I think anyone could expect. Read the fine lines of the company you are buying from (in this case a GE appliance from ABC Warehouse). ABC Warehouse will not return, replace or issue you a refund after 48 hours. Most of the time it takes at least that long to realize you have a real problem. So now kicks in the manufactures warranty (GE Electronics). They don't honor the idea that when you purchase a new (in good working condition) product that it is just that. NO, they will fix it for you, but it doesn't matter how long it takes (few weeks, months….) and when their repair person doesn't show that doesn't matter neither. You might get an "I'm sorry", (I didn't even get that, all though it probably would have pissed me off even more). So bottom line if your think you are buying something new so you think NO Hassle, NO Repairs. THINK AGAIN! It has now been 22 days since I purchased a GE electronics appliance from ABC Warehouse, (Shelby Twp, MI). It has been returned to the store, abused (dragged) by their sales manager, no refund, no exchange, no help. So those helpful sales people who make you think they are there for the best interest of the customer. Think again, that only applies while they are trying to make a sale. After that they don't know you. I have contacted all levels of both companies and NOTHING. Just basically F----U. Don't Buy GE Appliances and Don't Buy from ABC Warehouse.
I purchased a $1900. 00 GE refrigerator on July 16th. I stopped working completely on September 16th. I contacted Ge where I was told a repairman would be Scheduled to come out no sooner than the middle of October. I asked to speak to someone else because I could not go without a Refrigerator that long. I was put through to consumer relations and I was told the exact same thing after arguing I was then told to just hire a repair man and they would pay the cost as long as it was under $250 I had a repair man come where he located the issue was evaporated fan motor the refrigerator was too new and he could not get aftermarket parts that would fit this refrigerator I then contacted consumer relations again where I was told that they would ship me the part but it would be here no sooner than 10Days. I have lost about 150.00 worth of food.
This company is very unhelpful and do not care about their costumers. I will never buy GE again
I purchased a Ge cafe microwave from Lowe's. In less than 30 days it had issues. Lowe's won't stand behind anything after 15 days. Therefore, I scheduled an appointment online with Ge for service on a Friday and was given an appointment for the following Monday only to find out that the repair company it scheduled me with was 70 miles away and wouldn't be here for a week. Called Ge again and they scheduled a local company who was supposed to call and give me definite time and date within 24 hrs. When that didn't happen I called Ge again only to be told it was my problem and I should call the repair company and she hung up on me. That's enough Ge for me. Plus they are outsourcing customer service so buyer beware.
This is a piece of trash! Do not purchase. Won't even allow you to boil a egg after 5 months. Has sensors that affects the heating elements. The warranty for this company is worthless as you wait on hold for over two hour and still no one comes on the line. This is the second time putting in a claim to fix this stove that I have had under 6 months! Buy at your own risk!
I have old GE monogram refrigerator, which ice dispenser stopped working in Oct. 2020 for which I requested repair service. A technician showed up made diagnosis and ordered 4 parts which took almost a year to get 3, one never arrived. After many emails, text, and phone calls he had to make 3 visits and final answer was he needed another part, which is discontinued. It was my impression he was not knowledgeable enough to repair it and gave me an excuse to get out and took $99 trip charge. Only choice he recommends is replace this $10,000 refrigerator or keep this without ice dispenser function until it dies. I know this is almost 20 years old refrigerator and still working well but can't believe there is a part, discontinued production and unable to repair it. To be fair GE monogram was good appliance but repair service is unacceptable. I just can't believe the verdict that your appliance is not repairable because certain part is no longer in production. I had same verdict on certain product made by small company but from GE? No wonder GE has been going down hill and I predict it will die soon. If you buy GE product you have to pray you won't need repair/customer service ever.
Don't recommend buying GE. It took months for my appliance to be delivered, it was delivered damaged. They wouldn't replace. I've waited several more months for service on a brand new $3k appliance. They have rescheduled last minute three times. Beyond ridiculous service.
Bought a top of the line GE dryer in July of 2019. August of 2020 it quit drying. Of course it is out of warranty. Had it repaired. Six months later, it stops drying again. Had it repaired. Now it has stopped drying again. Not going to repair it again. It is the same thing again. It burns through thermal couplers like crazy. The first time it happened, it looked like there had been a fire around the area.
We purchased a complete package of the GE Profile series in 2017. I must admit other that other than the Dishwasher I am satisfied with the product. However, I have a GE Dishwasher that has truly never cleaned that well I did call the Customer Service line and they informed me to use LemiShine to keep the product clean on the interior. That worked. Dishes still were never clean. I always took the majority of the residue off the plates, etc prior to washing and ran the hot water prior to turning the unit on. All well and good, this weekend the unit would not respond possibly needed a reset which I had previously encountered. No luck still no power to the unit. Did a bit of research and determined it was most likely the door switch. Further research showed me this was a common occurrence with this model. Called a repairman who checked it out and determined that both computer and switch were bad and the repair cost would be $550. I will looking for an another dishwasher in the next few days. GE APPLIANCE customer service is HORRIBLE! My REFRIGERATOR is ONLY 3 months old! I contacted the BBB and made a formal complaint! AWFUL! They are so awful! They are horrible! The wait on the phone to even talk to someone has cost me 72 hours of my life! Guess what? I'm still waiting on the phone while I write this and while I wrote the formal complaint with the BBB! Do your self a favor do not buy GE!
I had bought my washer from Home Depot. It's 4 months old and the main belt went out. It took 2 weeks for someone to look at it and now almost a month and still isn't fixed. Terrible products and customer service. I would not ever buy a General Electric product again.
The worst decision I've made this year was to buy a GE refrigerator. I spent over 3K on a top of the line refrigerator that broke within the first month. It took weeks to get anyone to look at it, longer to get GE to agree to replace it, as it was a lemon, and it still hasn't been replaced. Five (5) weeks and counting without a refrigerator. Everyone along the way is sorry, sorry the wait on the phone for customer service is 3 to 4 hours long, sorry your refrigerator broke, sorry we can't get anyone to look at your broken appliance for 2 weeks, sorry we can't it replaced for two more weeks... When it was finally agreed to replace the lemon I was told the third party delivery, Forward Final Mile, would contact me, and should get it to me in a week. Forward did not contact me, I contacted them, it was more like 2 weeks then today, when it was supposed to be delivered, I was told they couldn't deliver because of police in my town not letting them stop. Forward Final Mile didn't knock on the door or call from the truck and really, you can't deliver to my house, how did the first refrigerator get delivered? By the way when I looked up Forward Final Mile I found they have an F rating with the BBB. Of course GE hires the F rated company then tells me they have no control over their third party vendors. This whole farce has gone on for far too long.
6 weeks and 4 separate appointments for which the tech didn't show, with no communication on any of the days to advise that the tech was not coming. Huge waste of time. No explanation. No apology. Customer service has no ability to communicate with or connect the customer to a superior, not to communicate with dispatch to get any information. My own efforts to reach a supervisor led to greater than 1 hour on hold. No process for requesting a call back. Clearly GE has no respect or concern for its customers. I have never had such an infuriating experience when trying to obtain service. The next "appointment" was automatically set by GE for another 2 weeks out. Who needs a properly functioning refrigerator anyway. My experience is so negative that I don't think I would consider ever buying a GE product again
Total junk the washing machine motor went out after five months and it took them 1 month to repair it. The dryer went out on August 5th and the repair man shows up on August 26th and refuses to fix our machine that is five months old because according to his paperwork it is out of warranty so he wanted $225 to swap out the thermostat. No more GE anything ever again for me!
For anyone who buys a air conditioner window unit from Lowe's if it is a General Electric be ware. I paid almost $700.00 for one, they do not help you and stand behind it. I purchase it on 8/20 used it 5 months and it almost caught my house on fire the plug was burnt on the air conditioner unit and my wall plug and also people were shocked by it when trying to unplug it. I have been fighting this with Lowe's there consumer relations and ther corporate office and they say cause I didn't purchase there In store warranty that I wasn't told about when purchasing it theres nothing they can do. The unit has 1 year warranty with G E and I been trying get it fixed theough them for now almost 3 months. Was finally told 2 weeks ago they would send me one replacement of it and now have been put of saying that it's at the warehouse in Birmigham since Aug 13 and I want t notified of it. And was supposed deliver to my house last Saturday and it didn't happen and then was told I would have it delivered today and still didn't happen called to see why and they didn't even notify me that it was not going be deliver today or past Saturday. Called them now and they say it should be Friday. Call all number been given and nothing has been done.
I have just purchased a brand New Stainless Steel GE Microwave Oven, it was installed today and working Excellently well. The One I had before was also a GE brand which I have had for many years, it worked perfectly well, I only just decided to change to a Stainless Steel type to fit my Kitchen decor. GE Products work for me because they last a long time. I am a happy User of GE Appliances. Thanks GE.
Bought a GE Profile in March 2021. The refrigerator has give us nothing but problems. No assistance from NFM and we have not been able to get GE service to fix the problems. Model #PYE22KYNFS. Buyer beware! Poor ice maker and dispenser design. Also we had to replace the door seals, and other parts which have been redesigned; back order keeps getting pushed back. FYI, after 30 days, it's between you and the manufacturer. Do not buy a GE appliance; especially during a pandemic.

A month after the one yr warranty ran out it stopped getting cold, had them. Out to fix it, it lasted a month and they said we'll discount you a new one for $1179.

Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
