I bought a new refrigerator in June. I waited two weeks for a new fridge to be delivered. Not even two months later and it quit working. A technician came two weeks ago to fix it and needed parts. Today a tech came back and not all the parts are here. This is crazy! I have been on hold for an hour to speak to someone in Customer Relations. I have medicine that needs to be chilled but really tough without a working refrigerator!
We bought a GE washing machine about a year ago. It broke down just before our year warranty expired, so we were lucky in that respect. (We had a Whirlpool before this which never broke down in 20 years of use, but it was getting rusty.) The technician--not from GE but from the company they outsource to, A&E Factory Service--needed parts to fix it, both in the motor and, I think, the computer. There was a long wait. When the parts arrived, they were the wrong parts. Another wait. So two months later, it was fixed... Except that the only way of getting cold water is by turning off the hot water valve in the cellar. Don't bother setting it at "Cool" or "Tap Cold", that won't do it now.
It is also far too complicated to use, if we follow the technician's instructions. Which, I'm sure, are correct and the right way to use it.
A badly designed machine, poorly built. Go Whirlpool, avoid GE.
They sold out to the chinese and now their products are complete crap. I bought brand new refrigerator and it is constantly makes grinding noises so loud I have to turn my TV up to drown it out. AND GE WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY JUST CONTINUE TO TELL ME THE UNIT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY. For the rest of my life, I will NEVER EVER buy another GE product or recommend their products to anyone. A completely $#*!ty company with $#*!ty products.
I purchased a fridge 7 months ago. I replaced the filter after 6 months. I then received an "ERR" code I was not able to fix. I had a GE repair person come out three times and attempt to fix the problem. He stated the fridge was unable to be fixed and I should call Consumer Retention. I called and was on hold for over one hour and 40 minutes before I hung up. There was no option to have them call me back instead of waiting. I did leave an email in an attempt to reach someone. I really hope someone is willing to call me back and help. As of now, I would NEVER buy another GE product again. This is a big enough company that this type of service shouldn't happen.
After seeing all these complaints I wish I would have done better research. This is awful! We purchased a washer and dryer set from Home Depot a month ago and the washer is broken. Told it would take a month to get a repairman out to fix, I have M. S and my husband has Dementia. Now I have to do Laundry elsewhere. The CEO of G. E needs to get this fixed it use to be a great product. We have had GE appliances all my life never had a complaint. This is the times we live in no one wants to accept responsibility for a bad product. Sad for the customers and the employees of G. E where is their pride in their products. I hope we get ours fixed next month. Beware of G. E people this ain't good!
A neighbor worked for GE and recommended that I buy my new kitchen appliances through their 'Friends and Family' program. I had VERY strict requirements for my range dimensions due to a compactor that opened in front of the stove. The GE website listed the depth of the range including the handle. I even called and spoke with a customer service rep and was assured that the depth measurement included the handle. So I ordered a complete set of GE Cafe appliances (gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave).
My first disappointment was when they arrived and I measured the range. It was deeper than I was told. The measurement I was given did not include the handle. This meant that my compactor would not open when the stove was in place. However, GE offered a Guaranteed Fit with up to $300 to make adjustments. I contacted the company and after weeks of getting the run around, I was told they would not honor that guarantee because the problem was not with the width.
I went ahead and had all the appliances installed. Within the first week the door on my $4000 SS refrigerator was dented when I closed it using my knee. The $1200 dishwasher did not clean or dry my dishes even on the 4 hour cycle. And after a few months, I noticed that the plastic on the $800 microwave handle was bubbling up (probably from the heat of the stove below).
What really sucks is that even if they would make good on their products, I would be responsible for the cost of removing, returning and installation of the new products.
Stay away for this brand!
If I could give their products a zero I would! My washing machine died after two years. It was only two years old! An issue with the control board and apparently only if the motor dies do they care.
Do not buy from general electric they do not help you when things go wrong. Just bought a new washer and dryer about two months ago not even. When from the start the washer started making loud vibrating noises. We concated ge they sent out technicians who apparently checked the washer and they did not check anything when here just told us how to use the washer. When we were contacted by a manager the report said the technician checked it and there was nothing wrong with the machine but how were washing? And even when asked for a third technician we would have to pay on a brand new washer. Save yourself time and a headache without buying from them and choose a better brand there not the good old general electric from before. There customer service is horrible, and just blames the user.
GEeans nothing.
I purchases a dryer and dryer the washer started giving me problems within less than 1 year.
1.5 years later the washer stopped working.
Do not buy GE for the name. It's not good quality.
We recently purchased a home with this dishwasher. Much to our dismay, when we opened it up the dish racks were all rusted out. We contacted GE appliance multiple times about the problem, and were told first that they were covered under warranty and they'd send us new ones (which they never did), then that they weren't and we'd need to pay for new ones. The machine is older but still works, but the cost of the racks was ridiculous - $470, so we might as well purchase a new dishwasher rather than pay for racks. This is cautionary tale for these dishwashers. I was told by a serviceman that because it is considered high end they charge exorbitant prices for parts. I also have a monogram microwave/convection oven which is non-functioning. The GE repairman sent us 4 different parts which they came to try out none of which worked. They just ordered two more - which I'm supposed to receive next week - to see if they will work. If not, I'll need to replace a $3400 built-in microwave/convection oven after paying upwards of $500 for service calls. The only good thing is I don't have to pay for all of the parts they sent. They'll take those back. People rave about GE Monogram as well as Cafe but my experience so far has been less than perfect (the Cafe appliance in my last home - I didn't purchase - it was new construction caused a wall fire. Won't be rushing to buy another appliance from GE.
We asked to have the washing machine simply replaced, since this one is a lemon. Now it will not spin. The first problem was that the tub leaked on to the computer board. Tub was replace but they refused to send the computer part. No satisfaction.
Bought a dishwasher who started having problems after 2 weeks, had technician come and couldn't find the issue, managed to find myself what it was and I kept resetting manually myself on each load 13 months later on top of that issue, door kept falling hard and the dishes didn't get cleaned, I called, they told me I am out of warranty all they can do is pay for part or give me a discount on a new one, when I asked them to replace a year ago the dishwasher because it was manufacturer defect! I then had to purchase a new one at a discounted price because the cost of fixing was way too high. It's been now 3 weeks I purchased it and I have no clue when I will have it. I email customer service every single day and they always come back with the same answer: we will let you know once it ship! This is unacceptable! And I surely will never purchase a Ge appliance!
This is the problem with capitalism! Killing small and up coming business so companies like GE can continue to profit billions of dollars, while the rest of the people consuming their products can Suffer with crappy products and customer service! It's mind blowing to think with 1.1 rating this company is still in business. There is no point writing my experience on here. Don't waste your time the company won't try to fix the problem. Try to find another alternative if you can. Don't try to call their consumers line because they will make you wait 1 1/2 just test how much patience you have left in you. Go Twitter any social media you can find them on and leave negative feedback this is the way to teach those companies a lesson. Take that profit away this is their pain point MONEY! Don't give them your money!
Model gud24essmww Is a washer dryer combo. Broke withen a month, scheduled a repair and no one showed up. When I called to find out why they told me the company they got to fix it was overbooked. They escalated my car it took one hours 57 minutes and 27 seconds for someone to answer. What they said is we could have somebody come out about a week and a half after The date that was originally scheduled. They told me I could have somebody come out and fix it up to $250 or I could wait. But they said that if they fix it and something goes wrong they're liable. They also said if it was more than $250 they weren't paying. They said if there guys fixed it they would pay but not if somebody else would fix it for more than $250. I understand during Covid a lot of places have lost a lot of help. But at least customer service could be helpful and understanding and they're not.
Do you not purchase a GE appliance! I ordered a stainless steel GE oven March 2021. It was on back order until June. Used it for just under a year and the igniter went out. The igniter that was installed is no longer available, probably because they know it's no good. It was a $500 oven, it costs $300 to replace this igniter. Warranty starts the day you ordered, regardless of back orders. Do not purchase!
3.5 yr old Cafe induction convection slide in motherboard harness et al melted. Ge offered 1/4 of replacement cost
This company is horrific. 3 month old fridge dead. 2 techs 3 weeks apart can't fix it and they won't replace it. How are we supposed to live without a fridge in the middle of the summer for 6+ weeks. This company's customer service policy sucks and the products are even worse. STAY AWAY.
I really am in awe of how short lived for a $3500 refrigerator freezer last. The refrigerator was in my brand new home when we moved in in 2018. I have been trying to get it repaired for two years. With six different service appointments. Seriously if GE can't make refrigerators to last at least 10 years. You need to focus on something else like toy cars.
I bought a $10,000.00 cafe 42" refrigerator and had it delivered on July 27th. The box had no damage.
When unboxed it had a bad dent in the door, the installer said no problem we will report it.
After 1 day of running the ice maker doesn't work. GE scheduled service for us in 2 weeks. We got notice the goor was ordered and we will get it in 3 weeks. Now the refrigerator does mot cool below 57 degrees.
I called customer service this morning and they would read me their standard reply to my concerns from a book. I am a customer that spent $10,000.00 on their product and I will never buy a GE product again.
No support at all.
Not only is this AC not working but thank you GE, for SELLING information regarding our purchase to a fraudulent service agreement company. Assurant has given my husband the run around for two months! Never buy such FAKE protection especially when you cannot reach anyone in the US. This whole fiasco has caused me to never buy anything from GE again!
Answer: SCAM! $800 EXPEND IN LESS THEM 4 YEARS AFTER MOVE IN A NEW HOME WITH GE APPLIANCES-GARB COMPACTER, ICE MAKER AND NOW, THE WATER FILTER HEAD... PURE SCAM... PRODUCTS ARE MADE TO BREAK!
Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
Answer: I sure would entertain joining such an endeavor! They deserve to get a kick in the ass if you ask me.
