First of all, the box was delivered in the morning with no indication that it needed to be opened immediately and/or refrigerated. On an over 100 degree Texas day it sat on my porch for 8 hours. Second, I clearly stated my preference for NO PORK or Shellfish... yet, brussel sprouts w/ bacon were included in my very first order... luckily, I had taken the time to check the ingrediants. Lastly, the food was AWFUL. Any frozen meal from Trader Joes would be better than these!

Amended: customer service was excellent. I received a refund within 24 hours and profuse apologies from management. However, that does not change my opinion of the quality of the food.

My review
September 11, 2016

All in all pretty good. Salmon was over cooked once. May have been old. Not sure.
Maybe options to get more veggies or with less seasoning, plain. We just want to eat as healthy as possible. Without still being hungry after eating. Like cauliflour turnip mash.

Dang... I am reading these reviews while eating a Freshly meal! The Cod. AMAZING. My 1st time to try it! Some gal used "snot" in her description... wth? Bad customer service? I have gotten means occasionally comped when I had an issue. My only issue is that I wish i could be cheaper... but hey. I will pay good money for good quality. Stouiffer's? Are you crazy? That isn't real food guys. This is REAL FOOD. Just the same as you had prepared it yourself. It is always easily digested. I am a big man... too fat. So the portions seems small sometimes but that is because that is what a normal human being would eat...

Really... do yourself a favor and at least try it. Freshly is worth it.

I've had better Lean Cuisine meals than these. I was sent 9 meals with 4 days to eat them before they expired. I imagine with the high salt content they would probably last longer than the expiration date. The sodium and fat count on these is astronomical. In my opinion, these meals are flavorless. The only one that I tried that was "okay" was the shrimp dish. I threw 2 meals away without even trying them because I threw all of the rest away after a few bites. Waste of money!

We thank you for trying out our meals - of course we are sorry to hear that you didn't care for them, but we appreciate the feedback!

We do add a bit of sea salt to taste, but otherwise the sodium is from what is naturally occurring in the ingredients. Because we do not alter it, we've received feedback that the sodium seems higher than normal. It's largely from seasonings and marinades that we use.

If you're concerned about it for health reasons, research has shown that naturally occurring sodium isn’t necessarily bad for you. It’s the sodium that comes from chemical preservatives and the like that is harmful (one reason we don’t use chemical preservatives).

Our meals are generally high protein, high healthy fats, low carb, and low sugar. Fat in food doesn't necessarily equal fat on our bodies (thankfully!).:-) We are a paleo-inspired diet that utilizes healthy fats (think eggs, coconut oil, avocado oil) for numerous health benefits while avoiding the scary, detrimental ones (think french fries, pizza).

Worse customer service
September 5, 2016

I had an extremely horrible experience with Freshly. Clearly, they provide the worse customer service experience. I am a regular user of Munchery as I don't cook. Because of the ads that popped up, I thought of trying Freshly for $49 for 9 or 7 meals. I noticed that prices were good even without the promotion so I was excited about Freshly as I would have become a regular customer if the food was good. I signed up and IMMEDIATELY made a request to either skip the delivery or cancel as I was traveling. Even though the delivery was more than one week away, they did not cancel or reschedule the order. Instead, they sent the food and it obviously was spoilt and had to be thrown away. Customer service was rude and uncoorperative and they did not even consider giving me a credit. Munchery and even Good Chef and others are a million times better - the others even have a customer service number who you can call and speak to a live person instead of communicating through email.

I see that you ordered on the 11th and emailed on the 13th with the delivery day change/skip request-- I'm afraid that with just 3 days notice we aren't able to stop deliveries. Due to our high order volume we need to maintain the most efficient production process we can - it is certainly not our intention to be difficult.

Office Lunch
September 3, 2016

I've been using freshly for about 6 months now and its been a terrific experience

Website: User interface is terrific, easy to navigate and intuitive to manage your meals.

Delivery: Always on time, never had a melted box even after leaving it for 6+hrs at my doorstep, all material is recyclable also.

Quality: The food and package looks great, when plated it really does look like the promo photos

Portions: I am 6'4 and 205 lbs and the meals range from 450-650 calories of lean content. I am typically full after the meal and sometimes will have a small snack on side, but for the most part a filling portion that doesnt leave you wanting.

Taste: Always delicious and savory without feeling greasy, miles and miles better than fastfood

Satisfaction: Only one or two meals that arent my cup of tea but for the most part, never have buyers remorse.

Highly recommend at least giving it a try! Got two of my coworkers on it and they love it also.

Yuck
August 28, 2016

Got my first order yesterday. The chorizo Mac and cheese was edible but loaded with salt. The meals are only good for 4 days so I had that for breakfast. The meals are so loaded with salt I could not gag down lunch or supper. The cod might have been okay but the sauce had the consistency of snot and the green beans had nine tomatoes to each bean. And was like eating a bucket of salt. The Cajun meatballs were just salt, peppers and tomato paste with the major ingredient being salt. I already skipped this coming week and now will cancel. Believe those who say lean cuisines are better. I find it hard to believe these are normally $11 each. I can spend less at Applebee's and eat real food.

Thank you for your feedback--we always appreciate hearing from customers so we know what is working and what we can most improve upon, especially regarding meal taste and quality.

It sounds like you were able to utilize a promo for your order, but if you actually paid full price please email [email protected] so we could reimburse you based on our current promos--since food can clearly be quite subjective we are pleased to offer these first-time discounts for customers to try the meals without paying full price.

Thank God for Freshly.com! I hate to cook but want to eat well -- high protein, good fats, little starch and even less sugar. Freshly to the rescue. The food is delish, takes 2 minutes to heat and is seasoned very well. The only things that were a little too spicy for me were the two meals with ancho sauce, but there are plenty of other good meals to choose from. LOVE!

This is an overpriced overhyped microwave meal. Nothing fresh about it. I can understand someone considering this acceptable, but 5 stars? I'm convinced these reviewers are shills. Save your time and money... Just buy some Stouffers.

Our positive reviews are not shills; we do not believe in that kind of dishonest practice. Sometimes we may ask for reviews, but we have no control over whether the review is positive or negative. We simply find that in the food industry it is simply quite subjective - often being love or hate, depending upon the person.

Thank you for the feedback regarding the meals - portions and flavor. We appreciate hearing from customers so we know where we can most improve as we continue to grow!

It seems like a good deal, but when you do the math it is terrible. With meals that look like 1/10th of the pictures the food is really bad

Bad Food, bad service
August 25, 2016

Food was meh and their business model is a scam. You don't have time to try the food from your "intro" deal before you get charged full price for your second week. Food is salty only sort of fresh tasting. Better than a frozen TV dinner, but not worth the price. Packaging is environmentally unfriendly.

We're so sorry for any confusion regarding our service, as that is not our intention. We do our best to make it clear with the "weekly delivery" language during ordering, in the Terms, at checkout, and the confirmation/welcome email.

Your feedback regarding the food taste is much appreciated.

Airline food tastes much better than Freshly. Hospital food is also better. The Freshly meals are pretty much frozen food packages that you can cook in the microwave.

I ordered mainly seafood dishes. All the fish and shrimp were overcooked and dry. Honestly, you're better off buying Lean Cuisine or Stouffers from the grocery store. Freshly is way overpriced for what you get. And it tastes AWFUL!

As for discontinuing service, this was very easy for me. Of course, I have subscriptions to other food delivery services, so I know my way around the subscription model.

Tried this as there was a promotion for 9 meals for $49. Definitely wouldn't pay more for it.

The meals are average size (I usually eat very little, so they were ok for me, but a man would probably need 2 to feel full). The quality of the meals was also average (not as nice as you see them on the pictures for sure!) - some were overcooked, some undercooked. I'm probably one of the worst cooks out there, but I still cook better.

Basically any freshly cooked meal will look and taste better. But when you don't have 10 minutes to cook something yourself, then it's probably an ok option. I usually don't, but after trying it out for a week I will start finding those 10 minutes.

Save time, effort and food waste!
August 2, 2016

Freshly has great tasting dinners that fit into my healthy nutrition goals! They are satisfying, delicious and fresh! Saves me time and there is no waste of food. I can't buy fresh produce and have it last long enough to prepare unless I plan to eat it several days in a row. I love having the variety made possible by Freshly in my dinners. Having 3 to 4 dinners a week prepared and ready greatly reduces the stress of planning, shopping and cooking and more economical than eating out.

Love the easy go to option
July 30, 2016

Freshly comes to your door, packaged very well and kept cold. The meals are delicious and quite hardy. Each meal has its own individual flavores and is very fresh and healthy. Most of them cook up in about 3 minutes. I love it for those busy nights where getting to the gym after work and making a healthy meal would usually be tough to do.

I thought I would try this out as they have some great looking entrees and wanted to take a break from cooking all the time. The entree choices gave me the flexibility and more importantly the time to get dinner together quickly but with a unique entree for each family member. The food came in on time, conveniently packaged and so easy to cook. All recyclable packaging is great but I wanted to plate the food to surprise my family. The food heated up great and the core entree was tender and fresh. Great taste. The vegetables are tasty but don't always hold the full shape but not a big deterrent. You have to find the right time of plus or minus on the 2 min reheat but it does not vary too much. It would be cool to have some sort of separate dessert but I really enjoyed everything I ordered and the price was good. The online account ordering is very easy and you can hold orders. I am excited for my second round of delicious food, some as before and some new. We wouldn't use Freshley all the time but likely 1x a month or other times in a hectic week. Really happy with the quality.

De-lish
July 30, 2016

I honestly thought the food was going to be average at best (purchased with coupon/got a low intro price for 9 meals), but i was happily proven wrong. Every meal was delicious, perfectly seasoned and although initially the portions looked small, once taken out of the container and put on a dinner plate, they were plenty (even for my BF). The flat steak was my favorite, as was the citrus chicken. I also do Blue Apron, but may ditch that for budget purposes and funnel it towards Freshly once a month. YUM!

Vegetables good and bad
July 30, 2016

I liked the main part of each meal. However, the vegetables in the pork and the spinach in the steak were not what I would ever like again. The vegetables served with the salmon were excellent.
