From start to end it is a fantastic platform to work with from an agency perspective.
I had the worst experience with this website, I had 2 projects as a freelancer in this website and both went bad:
1- My first project:
After the project was completed and delivered later the client
Managed to withdraw the money probably through his bank so the milestone
Was reversed and I have lost my money.
2- My second project:
After agreeing with the customer on the milestones I have started working on the project and completed most of the required work, but then the client changed her mind and wanted to add extra requirements or to cancel the project, I tried everything with her but she was acting in a really nasty way with me, so I have canceled the milestone to end the project but
She left a negative review on my profile and 1 start rating. The website then wanted me to pay the fees for that project although I didn't receive any payment for the work I have done. When I have contacted the support service with screenshots of the chat they just closed my ticket and did nothing about it.
In summary:
1- The website has no secure payment system, after completing a project you can lose your money if the client called his/her bank and asked to cancel the transaction.
2- prices for the projects are very low and most of freelancers there compete over price.
3- No customer support for freelancers, you can submit a support ticket but they will simply close without doing anything about it.
4- The website policies are completely biased against freelancers. They will charge freelancers for projects even if they didn't receive any payments.
Dear Maine, thank you for your fast and full response to an issues i was concerned as a user!
I had problems with clients asking money me to pay them as deposite before I do the work for them. That was strange, I reported to freelancer, and support team was so great immediately advise me what to do and also helped me with my deposit refund!
Thanks!
As usual, The techincal support team saves no effort in giving proper solutions in a timely manner. I can't thank them enough.
I had opened ticket regarding to recruiter project and I fully feel satisfied the help by freelancer support team.
They are very kind, responsible and specialist.
Thanks a lot again for that.
Was very fast and efficient! I'm extremely satisfied with the service.
The person who helped me was so good at things and fast and east withdrawal my deposits
I really appreciate the freelance service, the service team is amazing. Whenever I contact them, they react promptly and professionally. Customer service at its best.
I requested the return of a duplicate milestone, they responded immediately informing me that the return had already been processed. I am delighted with the speed and efficiency
I needed to update my location, and everything went very smoothly; I got help in the chat, followed the procedures, and everything went very well.
I had a problem that I did the translation in time, but the client didn't want to pay me, plus he turned off automatic billing in the beginning of our conversation. I thought he would pay me in the end, plus he asked me to make price lower which I accepted because I am a new freelancer, but no! He wanted me first to send him the translation, and then to send me money for my work, but because I saw there was some kind of deception, I didn't do what he told me. Freelancer site didn't do anything about this issue, and I reported both project and user. Such a shame!
Hello everybody! I had a problem with bidding on a project because a person who wanted to hire me for the project asked me to install Telegram app in order to have the interview there. I felt something's wrong and I reported an issue. A freelancer staff member Jessica B. Was very kind to me, explained me about warning signs when somebody asks you to communicate over the other platform which is against the policy of "Freelancer". The person's account and their project in which the interview should have been done via Telegram app. Was closed eventually. Feel free to contact the staff of "Freelancer". Highly recommendable to communicate with the staff of "Freelancer".
I got my issue cleared and the support team understood my stand and helped me from losing money unnecessarily. Thank you Freelancer support team.
Awesome, i got answers to my all questions. Thanks for that
Without my knowledge and capacity, I was charged of $10.48 on June 18,2021. I wasn't able to take it as my cup of tea because I do not know how and when did I subscribe to this. Gladly, Mr. Hachiro, one of the support teams assisted me unto the refund. Though I haven't received the amount on my card yet but transaction was already sent on my Paypal and email. I am waiting for the refund money to be in my account still. Thank you so much!
I decided to close the ticket because of the email I received. It was an email sent to remind me of an open ticket. I was under the impression that someone would get back to me about my website not being completed even after sending several messages to the guy who gave me an unfinished website. I sent screenshots of the messages back and forth and understood that someone would reach out to me through email. So I chalked it up to a donation to the needy who does fraudulent activity on Freelancer. If you are cool with it, I will not refer this site to any of my peers since you, the Freelancer website, do not give refunds for unfinished work!
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
