Anthony Echevarria made a mistake in the move-out scheduling, and then he made me pay for his mistake and charged me 1 extra day's rent. And I sent email after email, but no one responded or got in touch with me. I just lost my hard-earned money because of Anthony's mistakes. And then I have been emailing them, and no one has responded to my email. Very bad. Do not recommend.
I moved into a rental home in Douglasville GA. It was a horrible experience. Maintenance was horrible I went without an air conditioner for 4 days. My house was over 89 degrees inside. The maintenance man knew absolutely nothing after 5 days they called in a professional from an air conditioning company took him 10 minutes. I move out spent 2 days cleaning that house and they took my deposit of. $1800. Read the lease, hire a company to clean your carpets and your house or they will find anything to keep your deposit. I had pictures and that didn't matter. They charged me for picture holes. Consulted an attorney and was told the only thing I could do was go to court. And there was no pre inspection when I moved in. Do not rent from them. I have never had my security deposit withheld and I have always rented.
Do not rent with FKH if you plan staying more than a year. I've been paying 1990$/mo, rents in the area have gone down about 1-2% in last year. Today FKH sent me a letter offering "early choice" (3 months ahead) lease renewal with, drumroll please, 18.3% increase in my rent to $2355! So thats 20% increase relative to market. They rent much bigger buildings in the area for less money on their own website. Also most trees around the house were cut down in past year so now it looks like a cement lifeless disaster. Needless to say, looking to move elsewhere when october market will be flooded with properties. AVOID this company. Not going to try negotiating Im over it, will rent from a private landlord not a corporation that doesnt care about its customers.
SCAM. They tell you that they don't check your credit and they go to your debt to income ratio between me and my fiancé. We made well over the 3 times amount that is required. So we filled-out the application paid all the $165 application fees and got denied because we were told they do not check credit but that is why we got denied. They said our credit rating was too low. Save your money, go with another company.
First Key is horrible. I lived in one of their properties and repeatedly asked for repairs. I could never use the porch/patio because of the broken cement. The walkway and steps were busted and the driveway. I had a family fall because of this. My oven didn't work for 4 months. Maintenance never came out to repair or replace it. I ended my lease early because of this. My bedroom was always freezing and they never came out to correct this problem after several request. I had to put plastic up around the windows because it was always freezing in the house. I had to use space heaters in every room. Then when I moved out. They slapped me with a $4300 bill. To repair things that was broken when I moved in. No screens in the living window. Etc. When I moved out they just said leave the keys in the lock box and did not do a walk through with me. Do not rent from these slum lords.
I have called several times to have them remove a tree. They have not taken care of this issue for well over a month. I know the city has cited them and they still don't seem to care. I feel sorry for any tenant if this is how quick they deal with an issue.
I wanted to write a review regarding my current experience. Me and my GF were looking to rent. The place we found fit all of our needs. Not a fancy house but an older home that was recently renovated. Yes, I read all the horror stories on here yet we still went through with it (honestly almost out of desperation due to the current renting market). I just wanted to be an odd ball of the mix on reviews. Not to negate any of the other reviews, but our experience has been great. The AC was not running properly and they replaced the whole unit ($7000 job). A lot has to do with our local repairman, Kyle (BHAM, AL). He helps us make sure jobs get done which could maybe be an issue if we had someone else. They replaced our funky deadbolt, built in new flood lights, came to a resolution with our attic hatch, etc. If my experience is the only good one, then so be it. But I thought I'd at least express some form of positivity that we have experienced. When we moved in, I'll be honest the house was not up to par. But within a couple weeks they really did make everything right.
On the contrary, maintenance requests can take longer than wanted. Probably around a week to two weeks. They have a "emergency" hotline. When our AC went out, I will say I called it and although it felt like the same request process, a maintenance man came with AC portables within 2 hours, which was HUGE. It was 82° at 11pm in our home in Alabama. A week later they replaced the whole unit, it feels absolutely wonderfull now. But, our maintenance man Kyle, explained to me that he himself is responsible for hundreds of homes hours apart. Definitely not fair to him, but, he is doing all he can. That's on FKH. All in all we really do love the home, and SO FAR (only 2 months in) our experience has been very positive. We knew we weren't getting a high class house, but that's what we wanted.
Anyways, I wanted to write this because it's sooo easy to get upset and leave a negative review, but I'd say 9/10 people who have positive experiences don't leave reviews. Again I know I have only lived here 2 months, so I could very well come back and change all of this. But there was a TON of initial issues and they really did make it all right. I'm not any first key homes advocate but I thought I'd leave this here and maybe someone will find it helpful!
*tip if you are moving in*: if you notice issues upon move in, REQUEST IT BEING FIXED. It's not in writing but they have an unsaid rule of if there is an issue within 1 month of move in, they are very very likely to fix it. After that, I'm not sure, but that's what I got out of what I was told.
I rented from Firstkey for 3 years and had nothing but problems. They are very nice until you are moved in and then garbage. No matter how spotless you leave the property they will keep most of your deposit. They are very slow to respond to issues like trees falling and destroying neighbors fences. They will charge you for issues that are not your fault, like a toilet not working properly. I had a roof leaking throughout my entire living room that ruined many large items and they took months to decide to let me move to a different house because they couldn't figure it out. We couldn't breath from the mold that it was producing everywhere. And then I see that the moldy house was back up for rent within days of us moving out. Garbage company that no one should ever give a cent to.
Do not rent with First Key Homes. Never late on a payment, left home in clean condition, even spot painted before giving notice and moving. They came up with all kinds of ridiculous charges and refunded only $70 of $1275 security deposit. If you do rent, take pictures of EVERYTHING upon move in or they will charge you and lie saying all appliances were in new condition and charge wear and tear to your deposit money! I will never rent with them ever again!
No one has called...not even CHRISTIAN BLACLOCK...I don't even think it's a real person...AND actually speaking from a script...AND yes in Philippines.
Hello... I would like to talk to you about what's been going on. I would like to start by saying I have been here now almost 2 years and I never missed once. This started with the OUTSIDE of house hornets, so I called trying to see what to do...FirstKey sent someone and he that it was hornets, and they killed them. I thought everything was done, Until last month when they actually put it in my rent. After staying on the phone 1 hour 33 minutes. They were not trying to talk about anything I had to say just pay your rent and said well we've already got a ticket jus pay your rent...I was hurt and I've still not heard anything. (But I figured that) I actually decided to go check and now something else added...A Window broke and now they are making me to pay it.this came from a tree. And that is an ACT OF GOD.This is horrible now, and God knows don't forget about this The AC was 85 degree. Firstkey had someone can't fix it,someone has to come do it, he even went to Home Depot and bought an AC.He didn't even set it up,,he just dropped it off and now water everyday and that bill through the roof. I need some help, and I needbody to fix this it's too much. I had a stroke and Aphasia I cannot write that well now, I hope the make made sense. Thanks Shelon Washington 3647 Burnley Ct Lithonia Ga 30*******277 OR Derrick Washington *******504
These people are the most dishonest, slum lord, crocked, sleaziest degenerate bunch of dirt bags I have ever come across. Complaints are simply too many to mention. Run from these crooks. Run fast!
I HATE THIS HOUSE! PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS AND YOU ARE NOT ALREADY RENTING FROM THIS COMPANY, DON'T. MY AC IS ALWAYS OUT. WE JUST SPENT THE PAST 10 DAYS NOT EVEN BEING ABLE TO LIVE IN OUR HOUSE, THEY "FIXED" IT, BUT TODAY IT IS ALREADY NOT WORKING AND GETTING A HOLD OF ANYONE IS A NIGHTMARE! THEY REFUSE TO WORK WITH YOU. NEVER LATE ON MY RENT EITHER.
We have had rats in our attic since June 9. Pest control has been here at least 6 times trying all different things to catch them. Most of the problem is because they can't get to the area the rats are running around because there is no attic access. 5 days ago a pungent smell of dead animal throughout the house. Call FKH to get approval to go to hotel, left a message, noone called back so we left and went to a hotel. Called 3 days in a row and left messages, no call back. Finally talked to FKH property manager and was told I may not get reimbursed because I didn't get approval first. She said she would talk to the maintenance Mgr. About the access and call me back. Still no call. Not only do we have a dead rat in the house, we have a live one running around and there are live maggots showing up on the floor because of the dead animal. FKH needs to take this as a serious emergency and provide immediate action. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE to have anyone live this way. FKH, you know how to contact me.
I am writing to complain about the recent incident where your company failed to make two months of energy payments on our behalf, causing our energy to be illegally cut for over a day. This caused a loss of wages, a full fridge of fresh groceries, and severe distress during the unbearable summer heat of Orlando.
FirstKey collects money for utilities on our behalf, and we have always made our payments on time. However, in June and July of this year, FirstKey failed to make these payments, resulting in our energy being cut off. We were not notified of this until after the fact after dozens of calls and emails, and when we contacted FirstKey, they were unable to provide us with a satisfactory explanation for why this had happened.
The loss of power caused us a great deal of inconvenience and distress. We were unable to work from home, our food in the fridge spoiled, and we had to stay in an ungodly hot house until the power was restored. We also lost a day's worth of wages, as we were unable to work without power.
We have contacted FirstKey several times to try to resolve this issue, but they have been unwilling to offer us adequate compensation for the inconvenience and distress that they have caused us. FirstKey is responsible for this incident; therefore they should compensate us for our losses.
We request that FirstKey compensate us BARE MINIMUM for the following: The cost of the food that spoiled in our fridge The cost of our lost wages A sum of money for the inconvenience and distress that we have suffered
We hope that FirstKey will take our complaint seriously and will compensate us for our losses. If we do not receive a satisfactory response from FirstKey, we will be forced to take further action.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Horrible customer service, maintenance requests are never completed even in the heat of the summer when the house is over 85 degrees. Then they will have the audacity to charge you for someone to come out that never even fixed the issue. I was promised it would be credited back to our account & after months it still hasn't been. They rent out old homes, as is, for an insane price, then don't want to fix any issues with the house. I can't even begin to describe all the issues we've had with this house in the 2 years we've lived here. AC not working in the summer, heater not working in the winter, plumbing from sinks leaking into cabinets below, hot water heater needing to be replaced. It's been a nightmare & on top of that it's impossible to get ahold of anyone who works for the company that can help. It's a shame I even just resigned my lease because I can't imagine living here now another miserable year. Take my word & go elsewhere!
First Key Homes has a huge problem in their maintenance department. I have requested numerous times for them to fix the gate and have only had them come out and half patch it up. We're going into hurricane season and the wind recently blew the gate open from the back corner. This isn't the first time this has happened yet they come out and do a half job or report to the main office that nothing is wrong with the fence. The maintenance request process is asinine! You have to call, give them the issue, and be booked for a tentative appointment. Only for someone else to call later to actually schedule! I have missed so much work it's not funny. Then, if they come out and look at the issue and there's more work to be done. They mark the work order as COMPLETE and then you have to call again to request another work order for the follow up. I recently requested the sliding glass door be fixed. The worker came out and said this is a two man job, so submit another work order requesting two people come out! Over a month of time will have been spent before the issue will be fixed! There's so much more I could say, but I'll end with DO NOT RENT from them. They're not going to listen to your concerns and a property manager doesn't even call or respond to emails! Now I have to figure out what to do with my dogs because they keep escaping out of this raggedy gate! AND I PAY PET RENT!
We rented with Firstkey Homes for 1 -1/2 years. We left their property in new condition with no wear or tear in the carpet and wall. Notified them with 60 days move out date. We were asked to just lock the doors and throw away the keys with no move out inspection of the property. They sent a security deposit minus $318 for utilities. The problem is the check that was sent bounced at Chase Bank. Contacted management after 10 attempts with no resolution. FirstKey has 14 days from the time we moved out to return our security deposit. I will be submitted a litigation in small claims court requested our security deposit which after 14 days will be double according to my states renter laws. We are very disappointed with FirstKey Homes. I don't recommend you rent with this company. Does not seemed like they are managed very will.
The absolute WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. Please don't make the mistake of renting from them. They don't care about their properties or people or anything. If anything goes wrong in the home, you will just sit and wait and call useless customer service robots who won't help you. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!
We have been without ac almost a week. It's super Hot in here 100 degrees I have called and called and called and same response nothing has been done. We have a newborn and a elderly in this house in oxygen. We always pay on time and I don't understand why they would do this to us. What human can do this. We are in Houston weather our rent goes up but don't gets done. This will definitely be our last year here They don't care about their tenants. Hopefully my husband can handle another night here. We don't have money for a hotel.
I rented from Firstkey at 3728 Covington Pike for a year had never been late on my rent or nothing and my problems started the first month I moved in I had water problems with the septic tank backing up inside the house and outside. They constantly tried the cheapest way to solve it but kept getting worse. The refrigerator was used and it I would hear it humming but I still stayed to keep my credit straight but I put my notice in tell me why I haven't received my refund from my deposit. They are trying to make me pay 1500 extra dollars for stuff and I took pictures of the house when I left the refrigerator door was off but I put a request for maintenance but quests what they don't have that cause I was kicked out the system because I don't reinstate my lease. They didn't even repair any of the things they said I went and talked to the new tenants and she said everything the same way.Firstkey is a rip off and not for single person who just trying to get a better way and have a good deal it'll bleed you dry for nothing and the people working with Firstkey they work to steal from you knowing that half that stuff is nonsense but go home to their families.I was always told when you do wrong Karma will come back and you will get what you all deserve.I pray for anybody renting from Firstkey Property and they're Managing team all are crooks.
This is by far the worst rental company I have ever leased from. No AC which is considered an emergency, yet you want your rent on the 1st. Its 86 degrees in my two-story home. I hate this company.
This is the worst rental company! Two days after we moved in to our rental house the plumbing exploded! Pictures included as evidence. They did not respond to our messages or send a cleaning crew for 2 days! We had to beg them to replace the carpet and we continued to have problems with the house the entire time we were there. They would come out to inspect the damage (roof leaked, additional plumbing issues and lawn issues.) but they would not fix the problems. They are the absolute worst. Do not rent from them.
(1 star because I cannot leave 0 stars) I've lived in a first key homes location for about 13 months. Take my advice, don't rent with first key homes. Since move in I have fought to get 2 broken windows replaced, went 2 months with no heat during the coldest parts of the month and have spent my entire tenure here trying to get a garage door replaced that was also broken and poorly repaired upon move in. I have had many experiences with the maintenance staff and customer service. Nothing gets done. I open a ticket, they come out and look at it and take pictures and tell me that first key homes won't replace it. Then they close out the ticket and I am left with no resolution, or they tell me it'll get fixed and never fix it. This past winter I was told the part to fix my heat was on order. Then they closed the ticket and left my wife and I to deal with the freezing temps for weeks. I continued to call back and another month later got the part replaced. When I moved in, I had 2 broken windows that were not secure and letting heat and air and bugs in and out. It took me over a year to get these replaced after empty promises over and over. The garage I mentioned. Yup, was told 2 weeks ago this was on order. Now it's completely broken leaving my belongings at risk of theft and it has taken me 8 hours to get someone on the phone. Even then, it'll be 2 more days before they can even get anyone out. When I questioned Anthony Poindexter where my garage door was, he told me that would be delivered 2 weeks ago was, he got defensive and said he doesn't lie and never ordered a garage. I've kept good notes and he indeed told me it was on order and would be replaced. Again, the maint. Request was closed out and to never be fixed. Now I am furious and had to take a day off work to try and resolves this and when I asked about the garage door he ordered and where it was, he hung up on me. One last thing, when/if you resign (wish I never did) be careful, they charged me month to month rent that was well over my contracted agreement and I had to pay, or they would consider me late. Took over 2 months to resolve this issue. Very poor business management. I've filed BBB claims and I am warning everyone, don't expect a single thing from these people. They won't fix anything in a timely manner or at all. Everyone gives me the "I submitted this and that's all I can do" answer. Well, no one can get anything done here.
Answer:Impossible. They do not respond to your emails or voice message (and they never answer the phone)...that's even true if they contact you first. I received an email about my move out inspection. I responded. They didn't show up, nor did they return my 3 emails or 3 voice messages. Moved out without being allowed to attend the inspection. Then they charged me for stuff I'd already paid to have done. That's how they steal from you.
