UPDATE to: FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY
January 8, 2016

UPDATE I have since spoken with a supervisor who was very eager to take advise and rectify the lack of that transparency that I had perceived and improve my overall experience with the company. In the end the total cancellation fees are $250 from the airline plus $50 processing fee per person. I am now aware of all the charges, processing time and have since received e proper invoice and receipt in writing.

I recommended that they improve the transparency of their processing time and charges by including a easy to access written disclosure online. They could do well in the future by:

1) Gaining trust of their customers by high quality training of customer representatives that includes clear and uniform guidance on how to communicate clearly, professionally and courteously while being fully transparent. There should be no perceived confusion or hostility about fees because it creates deep mistrust.
2) Train the staff on how to better communicate in both written form and over the phone the critical information about processing time and fees both charged by airlines and by Faredepot.
3) Improve the Faredepot written forms: Create a standardized professional layout and use spell check and grammar check please. This will improve your image tremendously.

I do hope the company continues to do better for their customers. Deservedly, the business can do well in the future.

2nd review! They dont deserve any point!
January 8, 2016

Previously I wrote a review about how faredepot tricked me to pay a few hundreds more for the flight tickets etc. now I'm writing again cuz i want to warm you AGAIN NOT to deal with this company! Here is why: luckily I got in the flight and flew to my holiday destination after all that trouble with FD, but one day during my trip I got an email saying my return flights schedule got changed. Within the same email they provided me a new schedule with a different destination(? Hello, I'm flying home, but not to a different city), so I tried to contact them back and of course after a long wait with no response and no concrete answers, I menage to get the problem solved by myself with the help of the airline companies. (I called 2 continents, 2 airlines, 7 agents for 3days). As for today, after almost 3wks of waiting I still haven't heard from FD who had asked me to be patient for them to solve the rescheduling issue. And I also confirmed with airline companies that they had never got the requests from the faredepot regarding my rescheduling issue as I was told on the phone! So... hope this will prevent you to get into the flight ticket nightmare with Faredepot!

I wish I saw all those bad reviews before booking my plane tickets with those scammers. Charging more than officially stated in the confirmation e-mail seems to be their normal practice... and they were "so nice" to offer a 5$ "discount" on what they were trying to charge... now that's not just fraud practice, that's a despicable JOKE.

Avoid this agency at all cost
December 12, 2015

They don't even deserve one star.
I've never wrote a review for anything because usually I'm usually super laid back... but this agency should shutdown down.

I booked a plane ticket from Edmonton, Alberta to Yaoundé, Cameroon with connections in Montreal then Brussels. Unfortunately my company sent me to work in Ontario on a short notice just a week before my schedule flight and I didn't have the time to return to edmonton to catch that flight. So I booked another ticket to fly to Montreal from Ontario and catch my first connection there. I call the agency and literally begged them to drop just my flight from Edmonton to Montreal because I don't have time to go back to edmonton.

They told me all they can do for me is to cancel my flight all together and I have to repay for the whole flight. Essentially they were asking me to pay for the same flight twice, when in fact I'm giving up a seat from Edmonton to Montreal and not even asking for a refund.

I call the airlines lufthansa and air canada and they told me it should be an easy fix with zero fee because I'm not changing my flight date or time and that only the agency that issued the ticket can fix it

Unusable Non Existent Support
December 1, 2015

No one answers the phone. Emails are returned as undeliverable. IPod app links to non existent pages. Facebook page is not available at this time.

My flight is on Antinea Airlines. I am unable to check in for the flight as the airline seems to not have a functioning web site.

How would you rate them?

This is an additional note. I did finally make contact thru email and my issues were handled although with little time to spare. Those helping were courteous and worked hard to fix my problem. Overall, my preference will be to avoid this company unless no other choices are available.

A complicated travel package well done
November 17, 2015

I paid for flights my son had arranged last November from Vancouver to Mumbai. It was a cheap package and involved 3 flight changes and at least 2 airlines - air Canada and air France. All the connections worked well in both directions. Air France lost his luggage, but that is another story...

They make money without any working.
November 13, 2015

This company requires me to call my credit card company because of transaction fee. They said that my credit card has some problems so they couldn't receive fare. However, my card has any problems. When I asked them about that, they just said you should deal it by yourself. I wanted to cancel boarding pass bacause they were sooooo rude and when I asked about my pass, they just said 'pay first' but I've already paid fare when booked boarding pass on the internet. Finally, they required cancel fees even they made a mistake. They could charge cancel fees but they couldn't charge boarding pass fare even though it's same credi card haha. Gooooood job~ they know how make money without any working!

DO NOT USE!
November 2, 2015

I have never wrote a review for any other service because usually I am super easy going and never have troubles with companies.

I am writing my first review ever because I had such a HORRIBLE experience with this company.

I booked a ticket through there website. I received an email that said status: confirmed and had all the flight details. I assumed everything was done.

Then a few days later I received a voice mail saying my ticket was on hold (I had no idea it was on hold) and that I needed to confirm a security check before it would confirm.

When I booked the ticket there was no mention that my ticket would be on hold or there would be a security charge check.

I tried calling their help number numerous times with no answer. Finally when someone called me back they said my seat had been cancelled because I had waited to long to confirm. Again, I had no idea I needed to confirm as the initial email I was sent, the flight status said: confirmed.

I have booked numerous tickets on a variety of websites and I have NEVER had even the slightest problem.

I will NEVER use this company again and I suggest you don't either.

WORST Experience Ever!
October 23, 2015

I have been buying flight tickets online for years and this is by far the worst experience I ever had! The whole company is literately a scam. DO NOT USE THEM even if the tickets are free. I'm pretty sure any of the positive reviews are from the employees in India.

Tangled ticket reservation
October 21, 2015

Lloyd, Customer Service Rep,
This is the first time I've purchased a ticket through Faredepot, so I'm not acquainted with your process. To say the least, I was surprised to get an email after booking a flight to Panama City.

The email asked for an unspecified, temporary security charge. May I say that is bizarre for a variety of reasons.
1) During the booking and confirmation there was no mention of a security charge.
2) The suspect email did not give a specific amount for the charge, yet I am to call or monitor my charge card for some unknown amount from "Airline," not from Faredepot.
3) The email asked me to log-in somewhere, but didn't say where, i. E. to your website, my bank, my credit card, or United Airlines.
4) Your "Reservation on Hold " feels like you're holding my confirmation for ransom, which I doubt.

For the payment I used a Visa debit card through my checking account from my credit union. Today, there has been a charge by United Airlines for $482.10, which they've confirmed and have forwarded me the e-ticket.

Another strange aspect, is that the total price from you for the flight is $500.06. So if your security charge is the difference of $17.96, then I see no problem, except it wasn't stated up front.

Since I have received the e-ticket from United Airlines already, even though your process is pretty tangled, I'd say that I'm satisfied.

Hopefully, you'll be able to simplify out your booking process to go with the great fares.
Steve

I purchased two roundtrip tickets at a price that seemed to be too good to be true, and boy was it ever. I received an email shortly after booking stating that a security fee would be charged to my credit card and once I replied to the email with the exact amount my tickets would be processed. A week later and nothing had been charged, so I sent an email explaining the situation and was told to check with my bank, which I had already done. I called faredepot and was told the same thing, even though I had already explained that my bank confirmed that nothing had been charged. After a few more emails they finally sent the fee again. I emailed back with the exact amount, however instead of processing my tickets they confirmed that the security fee was indeed correct, but said that the tickets couldn't be processed because the booking had expired. I then tried to book again, same thing happened with the security fee and after a few days they once again cancelled the tickets because the price had increased. Worst customer service that I've ever experienced.

If there was a minus I would use it
October 1, 2015

These guys managed to leave my daughter stranded at LAX and because of their crappy processes we had to buy an emergency ticket for 2.5 times the normal price. They decided that despite the fact that they have sent her a reservation confirmed that they sent a follow up email (which she didnt get) supposedly to check for possible fraud and because she did not get it and didnt reply they cancelled her booking. They have made no effort to resolve this. Why dont they leave the fraud questions to the credit card company to deal with. Use anyone else before you use these guys.

I wish I had seen the reviews before I used this site. I had an absolutely atrocious experience using Faredepot.

I booked a flight from Canada to Germany for a very good price about a week ago. After receiving an email from Faredepot saying I needed to verify with my credit card company, I did so, and got back in touch with Faredepot immediately. The first time I phoned, I was asked for my last name, and after having to spell it out multiple times, I was curtly put on hold for 15 minutes without any explanation. I waited, and the person came back on the line only to tell me their system was down and they'd call me back in an hour. I agreed, and no one phoned back. I tried calling multiple times during the day with no response. The following day I called again, and the call was dropped within minutes, which then proceeded to happen another 3 times. I was using a landline, it was definitely their poor system that made this keep happening. I finally spoke with someone, and they said that I hadn't called back in time--which was untrue, I had followed the directions printed in the email to a T--and that my booking had been cancelled. Obviously I was frustrated, and asked them to reinstate it, which the agent said he wouldn't, and that I would just have to make another booking online.
I had never received a ticket, and this person refused to do his job to rectify the problem. I asked to speak with his manager, and I was told he was in a meeting, and that he wouldn't be out for an hour. I said I would just wait on the line, to which the man said that I couldn't. Eventually, I got off the phone with this totally unhelpful person and called my credit card company to ensure money had been refunded immediately. It hadn't. They took the entire amount, and completely illegitimately. I am now dealing with my card company trying to have the amount reversed.

There should really be legislation in place that prevents these kinds of scam companies from existing. The customer service was beyond unhelpful, and I will never use these guys again.

0 stars if I could
September 25, 2015

This is an absoloutely horrible company, with the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I booked a return flight to China, and I wanted to get an estimate on how much it would be to change my return date to a week earlier. After being on the phone for a long time, the agent assured me they will e-mail me within a few hours. The email never came, so I made another call, about 3-4 days later, just for them to tell me that my reservation was cancelled. That's right. Cancelled.
I was 4 days away from traveling, and they never even thought to send me so much as an e-mail to let me know. When I told the agent that I needed more information than just "it's cancelled", she replied that she couldn't help me. This is kind of tone-deaf, considering that their entire business is based on booking flights for customers. I asked to speak to a manager. She refused to let me speak to anyone else, and told me she would call me back within an hour. She also seemed really surprised at why I would be upset about all of this.
Don't entrust your travel plans to this horrendous company; you might just get turned away at the airport.

I recently had an awful experience with this site. I booked two tickets. One wasn't ticketed and I was overcharged on my credit card. After calling and getting hung up on and then emailing I received a response that the reservation was ticketed the whole time (it wasn't because once it was ticketed the link in the previous emails changed from confirmed to ticketed) and that there was nothing that they could do about the difference in charges. They said the taxes went up. The second fare the wrong date was booked. I tried calling several times within 24 hours and was hung up on or the line went dead. When I finally got a hold of someone they said it was my fault and that to correct it would cost $350. They would not give me a break down of the fees or a reason other than it was my fault. I called delta asking for their help and they were astonished at my experience. They said they should have a policy for changes within 24 hours.

September 21, 2015

Don't waste your time & money with this website,, it is considered the WORST. I completed a booking with them & got a booking confirmation number with 3 different agents confirming the itenary & price,, then all of a sudden i received a call saying that there is a price increase for my booking of $ 1200 as there was a GLITSH in their system... so back to square 1 searching again for the flight but not with FARE DEPOT. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DEAL WITH THEM

If only there were a rating lower than '1'
September 19, 2015

Had the WORST customer service of my life with FareDepot, we tried to change a date within 24 hrs of booking due to a family situation and were asked to wait all day to hear back from a representative, only to find out that the flights that had been available in the morning were no longer available and that we'd have to completely change our travel day AND pay upwards of $800. We will never use this service again and we can't believe how badly our customer services issues were handled, we were hung up on three times, yelled at and ignored when we asked to speak to a supervisor, and were then ignored further when we tried to reach someone about canceling our reservation entirely. We will NEVER use this service again and neither should you. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

NEVER USE FAREDEPOT
September 14, 2015

I will never use this site or advise anyone for that matter. I purchased tickets with them and the first one I saw was really affordable and I booked it, I saw a small charge on my card and waited the whole day and nothing. I called them and after 30+ attempts someone answered, this person was so rude to the point that he called me a liar because I told him I did not receive the verification email, well my reservation was cancelled and I lost that original fare. I booked another one and it was more expensive, it took me 3 whole days to clear this mess up and me staying on the phone trying to talk to someone in all those 3 days and hundreds of calls I only actually spoke to a live person 3 times.

I thought everything was done now and I see my card has been charged $800 more than what was originally charged. I have been trying to contact someone to look into this matter and no one is willing to help, have emailed, called and the only response I have received is we are looking into the matter via an email after numerous emails I have sent and no one answering the phones. If you ask for a manager you are told they are not available or in a meeting. Needless to say am extremely disappointed. We work for our money and don't go outside and pluck it from trees anytime we need it.
I will not be using this site and none of the people I know and the people they know will be using this site
