I am absolutely disgusted with Fabric.com When i lived in the US, i regularly purchased from their site for my business.
I moved to Ireland and had my first purchase last week. For $16.99 shipping, i presumed the parcel was being sent via USPS. I was prepared to pay for VAT and duty when the shipment arrived. A storm hit the Fabric.com offices and they kindly upgraded me to UPS shipping. However when the package arrived i was hit with a 30% handling charge by UPS. I was not expecting this! I would not have had to pay this handling charge with USPS.
Anyway, I called Fabric.com and Lakesha, the CS rep that i spoke to basically told me they cannot control wether the parcel is shipped via USPS or UPS. This is up to warehouse and they cannot communicate this to their customers. Thanks Fabric.com! You dont' have the courtesy to tell me whether i'm going to pay an extra 30% on my orders? I will be finding a new fabric provider. Fabric.com has gone downhill and their customer service rep was so rude.
I placed an order on 2/4/14and it was mailed today 2/14/14,10 days is ridiculous. The order just sat there for 10 days! I am scheduled to get it 2/17/14,, sure I will! Will NEVER order from this place again!
I have now purchased fabric twice from this site, both times it has been bad. First time my material came in pieces instead of one long piece. Not easy to cut out a pattern when you have to fit the pieces on different sizes of material. Second time It came in 3yard piece. When I started to cut it out I found that it had been sewn together to make the 3 yards. When I contacted the company they were so sorry and that was it. I was told you only had 30 days to make a complaint. I had only received the material one week before. I was stupid for trying this company a second time will never happen again. I will find fabric somewhere that is more reliable. This company does not care about quality.
I'm sooo bummed I didn't see all these reviews earlier. Because, yes, I have exactly the same experience. I placed the order on Monday, and requested expedited shipping. It is now Thursday and there is still no sign of my order shipping. I called to cancel and they told me it was too late. This is ridiculous!
DO NOT SHOP HERE.
Fabric arrived damaged because they stuck a sticker to each piece. I could not get the sticky out of one of the pieces and attempted to contact the company for days, both email and phone, and never got a response, a return or a refund, just an unusable piece of fabric.
Poor customer service and inaccurate inventory DOES NOT make up for the prices.
This company has gone down the drain since Amazon took them over
The customer service at fabric.com has REALLY went downhill quickly. Many times I've received a confirmation e-mail after purchase only to receive another e-mail four days later that something I already thought I had purchased is no longer in stock or available. Shipping and processing have become much slower as well compared to other fabric shops. I prefer to pay a couple extra dollars for good customer service and quick processing as opposed to no customer service from fabric.com.
Placed an order four days ago and assumed that it was on its way. Received a very unapologetic customer service email today stating that my fabric would have to be sent in pieces (half yard increments) or they would cancel the order in 24 hours if they do not hear from me. The only redeeming quality of this site is the good selection of organic fabric. Overall, mediocre pricing, slow shipping, sucky customer service, website does not indicate when a fabric is not available in consecutive yardage. I think I'll continue to hunt for a supplier.
I have had a great experience with Fabric.com. Occasionally there was a mis-shipment, but Fabric.com made all situations right. I understand that during their move, they had a lot of problems--but I think they have overcome most of the barriers. I believe that Fabric. Com employees are human, that also occasionally make picking mistakes. All my problems have always been handled with knowledgeable, courteous customer service representatives.
My problem with Fabric.com is the new website that they have recently migrated to. It is complicated and not user friendly. The old website was laid out perfectly to find any fabric that you would want. Too many selections to have to muddle through makes the website not user friendly. I don't know about others--but when I want to look at certain fabrics, I don't want to have to spend a lot of time trying to find it. Unfortunately, it has become just like any other fabric site. They lost the simplicity of fabric finding and I think that is a shame. I will not spend much time on it as I did before.
I am totally gobsmacked by this website. I came across fabric.com from some pins on pinterest, I saw that their range of material was amazing and had some really different stuff compared to what we can get here in Australia. My mum often finds it difficult to find nice materials to make skirts from. We had none of those issues here! And to boot I was able to buy NFL team fabric which is also not available here!
The order was ready and shipped 4 days after I placed the initial order (Dec 30) and arrived on our doorstep via UPS today (Jan 2) I expected it to be at least another week. After reading some of the reviews on here after I ordered must admit I was sceptical about our order, but after this amazing performance I have complete faith in the team at Fabric.com and would order from them again in a heartbeat. Thanks Fabric.com
Seeing all of these reviews makes me feel better - at least I'm not alone in my bad experience! I probably order from fabric.com 3-4x a year and have noticed they refuse to sell certain fabrics at sale prices. Even when they include these prints and designers in their sales, they somehow magically end up 'out of stock' before they can fulfill the order. This happened to me THREE TIMES IN A ROW with the same fabric... yet it was obviously restocked at least twice. Just don't list it in the sale if you don't plan on SELLING it for a discounted price. I find their business practices shady and not worth the gamble. It's time to start putting my money where my mouth is - I will no longer order from fabric.com. I've recently discovered www.quilthome.com and am so happy I have! The site and their customer service are 100x better than fabric.com. If you need a fabric fix (and who doesn't?) check out www.quilthome.com - I'm their new biggest fan;-)
There should be a 0 star rating for Fabric.com
I placed a $132 fabric order and it was sent to my old address in another state even though I updated my address in my Fabric.com account and removed all old addresses at the same time I placed the order. I received no confirmation because it was sent to an email address I no longer use.
I contacted Fabric.com and their only suggestion was to contact UPS. I did that and UPS told me that only Fabric.com could issue a retrieval of the shipment because it was shipped on their account. Fabric.com refused to issue the retrieval even if I paid for it. They took my money, and offered me zip, 0.00, nothing, not even the service to obtain what I paid for.
This is the worst online retail merchant I have ever dealt with. They do not know the meaning of customer service.
I usually don't order fabric online but it's so hard to find anything in the 3 retail stores. I also go to the fabric district in LA but that's a long drive. I ordered from fabric.com and received my stretch midnight blue taffeta today. I was thrilled at the quality and ready reciept. I would order again without a doubt.
This fabric is for a dress for one of my sons wedding. So happy!
I am located in the US, and I've ordered from this site for about 6 years, averaging about $15k/yr for my business. The service and quality has gone downhill significantly, more specifically, after expanding their warehouses in late 2011. There was a time where this site would allow you to use a coupon code multiple times. When coupled with their free shipping, these 15% codes would put their prices just below all their competitors. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. They've been averaging a one-time use coupon code every 3 months now, which for my business, simply isn't worthwhile. They also have a lot of problems with keeping their quantities up to date, and take about 5 days to inform you that something is sold out. Most of the time, the quantity on the site will still show a significant amount of yardage still available. Again, when I order large quantities of fabric, I need reliable and fast service in order to meet my own turnover for my customers. I've only ordered a handful of times the past year, and each time I've either had to wait an ridiculous amount of time for shipping, or I've received the wrong item and need to waste my time fighting for a replacement. If you can find something somewhere else, DO IT.
Ordered a quantity of a certain fabric, we are a large company when the fabric arrived it went straight to the Upholstery shop to have pillows made. When we received the completed pillows we then noticed that Fabric.com sent the wrong fabric. Made contact with them and the only response was sorry we can not take returns on altered fabric. Really how about sorry to hear that we screwed up and how can we make it up to you can we send out the correct fabric at least, but no nothing.
I am working on (what was supposed to be a halloween project) and I ordered from Fabric.com and I am DISGUSTED. I have tried 7 different times to order faux fur from their site, and EVERY TIME. I get some kind of email telling me that the item I ordered wasn't in stock, and that they charged my card anyway. As soon as I get my money back from this horrible site, I'm ordering else where. I will still finish my project, (though it will obviously not be done before October 30th) but I will order somewhere else, and as soon as I get my money back I will NEVER deal with this site ever again.
I've ordered from Fabric.com for years and never had any problems. It seems that most of the poor reviews come from overseas customers. I am in the USA and get what I ordered very promptly. I hope they are reading these reviews for quality control.
I ordered about 15 yards of fabric online. After I placed the order I read all of the awful reviews on here and was worried. However, I received my order today and could not be happier. It shipped within five days and the order was correct. On two types of fabric, I received a sticker that said "Jackpot! End of the bolt" and got almost twice the fabric that I actually ordered! Maybe these folks are trying to turn their image around - I say give it a try!
I ordered several items, both fabric and notions and recieved all items I ordered, as described and in a timely fashion. I suggest you read carefully the descriptions and measurements on the fabric, some come per piece or a shorter width on yardage. This was my first time ordering from them and I will definitely order again. Everything was good quality and packaged very nicely. I did not know Amazon owned the company, but I love shopping with Amazon too so I was happy to read that.
Absolutely horrible customer service. Ordered 7 yds of fabric and it came in several pieces. Would have loved to have known that before hand. How am i supposed to use it? Never again
Answer: Hawthorne Threads is great.
Answer: Im using them for almost a year but no more... they keep sending me 25 % discount almost every week to gain me back... NO WAY! Yeah i order atleast 2,000 each order... total loss for them... until now they still awe me money for the fleece fabric i order long time ago, when i order it it has 50 yards of it, after 10 days they gonna tell me its out of stock, waited for replacement, until now no replacement... i got a lot of horrible experience with this company,,, dirty fabric that looks like somebody use it to rub on their body... really really sucks!
Answer: My business is making curtains. I have dealt with this company for the past two years and I think the customer service department is doing the best they can with trying to making it look like the company has it together. They do not have it together at all. There is no excuse with the volume of business that they do that they cannot afford a system that can tell you immediately an item is out of stock. I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased fabric from this company only to learn three days later that it is not in stock. Then they hold the rest of your order for another three to four days after you answer an email telling them to continue to ship the rest of the order. I have had fabric arrive to me balled up in a box that they didn't even bother to put in a bag, I have had fabric with shoe prints on it in the middle of the bolt or pieces of fabric missing from a ten yard order that were cut out of the middle of the ten yards. I am trying to eventually not use this company at all anymore as they don't have a clue as to how to treat customers or just don't care. The only problem is they have run all of the mom and pop online fabric stores out of business with lower prices (this was maybe two years ago) and the smaller businesses couldn't keep up with them so they closed. Now that they have the market they have raised their prices because they have very little competition out there. If you leave a good review for this company you are one in a million that have had a pleasurable experience. Just because you bought from them once and don't have a complaint means nothing, consider yourself lucky.
Answer: It's a US website, so they'll take the money in US dollars, but if they take orders from Australia your bank or payment processor will have to convert the currency according to the current exchange rate and I think they may also charge a fee for doing this.
Answer: Thank you so much for your inquiry. Please feel free to send your contact information to [email protected], and I would be more than happy to forward it to the appropriate people.
Answer: You would have been better off contacting fabric.com directly. It doesn't look like they even know about this website.
Answer: I would call or email them, including as much detail as you can... order #, what fabrics were ordered and approximately the time of the order. Have never had this happen to me from Fabric.com, have from another online site and was lucky that I got the help I needed. Good Luck.
Answer: As a customer of theirs, almost an ex-customer of theirs at this point, I can honestly say they have made absolutely no changes for the better in my case. They have paid absolutely no attention to any of my issues with them, which is why I'm about to become a former customer.
