They can be ok if everything is fully in stock. If it isn't or you have to deal with any sort of order issue, forget it. They are the worst.
5 days after placing an order I get an email saying an item is out of stock and asking what to do. I immediately reply with a replacement fabric. At the end of the day they reply that they can't modify the order due to the delay it would cause. Well, then why ask?
I called support, and replied to their email, and also replied to their "I'm not happy with this result" email address. 3 days later, I've had no reply to any of my 3 communications. The order has not shipped and still shows as on hold.
I've ordered a replacement fabric elsewhere since I need it for a birthday present I'm making for next week. But still have no idea if, or when, the rest of my order will ship.
The other reviewers are right; Fabric.com could really give a crap if my home business was hinging on getting the fabric in time, which it will not. As sometimes happens, I realized I didn't have the fabric I needed. I ordered it Monday, wanted it by Wednesday or Thursday. But when I checked out, there was no shipping option and suddenly the order was complete. I immediately called customer service and was told in fact that is the only way to get expedited shipping, whereupon they - and here the irony just kills me - THEY PUT YOUR ORDER ON HOLD FOR DAYS until they get around to calling you and asking you what kind of expedited shipping you want. They held my order for three days and then had the nerve to ask me did I want to spend $60 on a $40 order to get tit next day. Had I just let it be normal shipping, I might have gotten it by now! Though based on the reviews I probably wouldn't have. It hasn't ruined me, thank God, but I will not make nearly as much this weekend as I could have. I found the same stuff online and wouldn't you know, they promised to have it in the mail by the next business day. The world's largest online retailer can assure me their vendors get it in the mil almost immediately, but these schmoes at Fabric.com can't even be bothered to process my order for at least 3 business days. I could go on about how the people I spoke with were terribly unimpressed with my plight and kept implying that it was sort of on me, I should have known better since the site does say it takes 2-3 business days to ship your order. Silly me, I thought it was 2014 and the 3 day warning was for incredibly busy times like Christmas, not your average Tuesday. Like another reviewer said, I wish I could give them 0 stars but I had to pick at least one.
WORST company I have ever dealt with, and that is saying ALOT. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Fabric.com sells fabric they do not have apparently. I ordered fabric to reupholster furniture. The order went through and my credit card was charged. 3 days later, I receive a notice by email that they only have scraps of the fabric left, not a continuous piece. I wrote customer service that I was disappointed and not interested in scraps, and to please refund my money. No response to that email. No refund. Ok, I called customer service and spoke to one of the most unpleasant customer service support agents. I explained the situation to her and again, no apology. Instead she proceeded to tell me how fabric.com is entitled to sell fabric they don't have and that it is customary to do so. She told me that it will take 7 business days to get a refund, then at the end of the call she said within 24 hours. Ok. Which is it? Still no confirmation of the order being cancelled. Still no refund. Still no apology. I called again today, and spoke with another extremely rude customer support rep. What a nightmare. At least I paid through paypal, so I can file a case if they don't give me back my money. Any savings this company might provide isn't worth the trouble. Trust me.
I wish I had read this before I ordered. Two weeks and counting and still no fabric. I guess it's their free shipping offer... called them and was told it would be here yesterday and it's still not here. Waste of my time. I had a window to get a project done and now can't do it. STAY AWAY.
Worst online fabric company I have ever dealt with! (Beware, there are a few sites under similar names that are the same company, look at the menus and design and you will know))
First off, we pay a premium for shipping which seems to vary order by order even if the fabric is the same quantity, size, weight etc. Even more cost if you order smaller amounts. Generally it will come within 2 days by UPS once the notification arrives, then the next order with be sent USPS and doesn't arrive for weeks if not over a month, (as I am currently a still waiting for the last (and final) order I made over a month ago.
Contacting customer service is a joke, its all the same generic answer, were sorry but the order has been sent to the warehouse and there is nothing you can do... please contact us if we can provide any assistance... bla bla bla.
I made a large order a while back and realized I forgot to add an item, so within a minute I placed the order for other item I needed and emailed service to ask if they could kindly combine the orders and adjust the shipping accordingly, no big deal right? WRONG
Two days later I get a response, sorry your orders have already been sent to the warehouse and we can not help you. I responded with, contact the warehouse and make the adjustment... guess what same response, we are sorry but your order has already been sent to the warehouse...
I own an upholstery business where I need product quickly and without issue where I can also direct my customers to order fabric from as well, but this will no longer happen, they have lost my business permanently.
I, too, am totally disgusted with Fabric.com! I ordered samples on 7/21/14 for my customer's review, but 10 days later still had not received them. I phoned and was
Told my credit card wasn't accepted. Within 15 mins., my bank corrected their issue. I was told that an email had been sent detailing the issue, but, of course, none was ever
Received. I was told my order would be sent US Mail Priority. The next day, I received an
Email from UPS saying the pkg. Was sent GROUND (why?). And now would not arrive
For an additional 5 days! Seems funny they could send me 5 emails detailing the price
Increase for Premier Fabrics (which I had ordered in the samples), but could never tell
Me there was an issue on 7/21/14. Now that the samples will arrive AFTER the price increase, I have to suspect there is unquestionably motive to the whole fiasco. I will take
My (design) business elsewhere and tell anyone and everyone NOT to use this company!
In desperation, I even offered to have my sister pick up the samples in Atlanta. But was
Told that was not allowed. At least she could have gotten them to me sooner...
I ordered some quilting cottons from fabric.com, which shipped within the stated timeframe. I received generous cuts of all the fabrics. I did order several fabrics printed with metallic ink, and the stickers placed on those fabrics damaged the metallic printing. I contacted customer service via email and received a response the following business day apologizing and stating that they would resend the affected fabrics and there was no need to return the damaged fabrics. That replacement was sent out the same day, this time without stickers. I will order from them again!
I placed an order on Tuesday, July 22,2014. Per Fabric.com's shipping policy, it says that your order will ship within 2-3 business days (not including the date you placed the order). This is simply not the case. I received an email today, Thursday, July 24, stating that my order would not arrive until the 29th. I called Fabric.com to inquire about why my package would not be received this week as I expected and was informed that they have 2-3 business days to PROCESS my order, THEN 2-3 business days to actually SHIP my order. I am very unhappy. I only ordered from this site because I was in a time crunch and needed the fabric this week. This is the first and last time I will use them! TERRIBLE & CONFUSING POLICY JUST COST YOU A CUSTOMER AND A BAD REVIEW.
I absolutely love fabric.com. They have a wide selection with prices that vary from high end to thrifty. My orders are received within 2-3 days and always come well packed and cut as ordered. I have placed 6 orders with fabric.com since becoming a member in November 2013. I have even had a few of those orders sent to a friend's address and they have never sent them to the wrong place.
I haven't had any experience with their customer service because I haven't had any issues with my orders.
Without going into a lot of detail I just need to let everyone know if you need customer service forget it. I contacted them by email, called and then sent a letter. The persons on email and phone flat out said they wouldn't help with my problem and my letter was totally ignored. If you need help, you won't get it. This is the worst place ever. Seems they don't care about repeat customers!
Excellent service and beautiful fabrics. I am from Australia and i ordered 19 yards of fabric, almost $400 worth and it was on my doorstep in exactly 7 days. The order was all correct and delighted with quality of fabric. Can't fault them.
I ordered yarn from fabric.com. My order was processed the next business day and I received the shipment within 3 days. The order was completely correct and the prices were much better than they are in walk in retail stores in my area. I would definitely order from them again.
These guys are really incompetent. I have ordered twice now, think that I would have learned from the first time. First time I ordered 2 yards of a very large, repeating pattern. They sent me two, one yard pieces, which were useless. This most recent time i ordered 4 1 yard pieces of stretch lace in different patterns. They sent 2 yards of the same lace pattern an a yard of cotton canvas. They did refund my money both times but really that's not what I wanted. I had to pay shipping and I ordered mostly for convince, which it was not.
RIPOFF. I ordered 9 yards of diaper fabric. They sent 2. They don't want to make good, because I used the 2 that I needed, and asked for the remainder of the order to be sent to me. Because I used it--they won't make good. LOUSY company.
They used to be a go to source for me, but not any more.
#1: The selection - I can find similar fabrics and products at my local Joanns'. Long gone are the quality fabrics I used to buy and I bought LOTS!. I had a $50 coupon earned -take a look at how much you have to spend to get that!
#2: the customer service. I used to get a name when something was up with the order. Not anymore! Just a mass generated blah blah blah. I miss having a name associated to customer service. A big shout out to "Bridget... I miss you. I hope you found a better job!
# the prices are no longer competitive. I don't find any bargains and I now spend my hard earned money at Fabric Mart. Great Quality, Great selection Great Service.
Fabric. Com can go away, hopefully soon!
Although they have some good deals WHEN YOU ORDER... it's a HUGE letdown when you get the email several days later that your fabric is either out of stock or in a million different pieces! They have huge inventory management issues and so many times I've received incorrect amounts of fabric which is even more annoying. Now I always double check that I received the correct amount of yardage and not trust their word as it's been wrong too many times. The website is also meh as you can't look at a larger number of fabrics at one time, you have to keep "next paging" it to see more.
Fabric.com is a great site. I use it to buy apparel fabric, which is hard to do online, but when I've received something I've ended up really not liking, they accept returns, no questions asked! Brilliant! What made me come here and take the time to review them was that I just received an order that was wrong- I ordered a piece of swimsuit lining fabric and received some leopard print stiff cotton fabric instead, for some reason. I sent them an e-mail about it and they put in a replacement order and said that I didn't have to send the wrong fabric back, to keep it and use it or donate it to a sewing guild or something. I thought that was amazing. So even though they messed up my order, I still say their customer service and return policy is one of the best!
I was reluctant to order from this site from reading the reviews, until my friend (who is a seamstress) told me that she orders from here regularly and has never had a problem. So I decided to try it out and I was NOT disappointed! The shipping was speedy (I got my order in about a week), the prices are great, shipping cost was reasonable (shipped to Canada), they have lots of selection and they have high quality materials. I will definitely be order from here again!
I've been a customer of Fabric.com for at least 5 years now but everytime I order to them I need to follow it up when are they shipping my order. Their services sucks. I'm also in GA and need to wait total f 5 days before I can received my order. They are not going to even start processing the order until you follow it up. I have some issues to them too not sending the right fabric I ordered. TO SAVE YOU A HEADACHE DO NOT ORDER FROM FABRIC.COM.
I placed an order a month ago that I am still trying to get resolved. I ordered swatches to help me select my fabric, and ordered based on that. The fabric I received was nothing like the swatch given to me. They said they would send me the correct fabric, which ended up being the same thing they shipped the first time. At this point it had been three weeks since my original order and they told me the warehouse would have to research it to see what went wrong because the swatch they sent me was actually incorrect. Another week later and no resonse. I've now had three orders sent to me (fourth arriving tomorrow) and still haven't found the one that matched my swatch. They gave me a $15 credit early on but honestly I don't even want to use it. Not worth the headache.
Answer: Hawthorne Threads is great.
Answer: Im using them for almost a year but no more... they keep sending me 25 % discount almost every week to gain me back... NO WAY! Yeah i order atleast 2,000 each order... total loss for them... until now they still awe me money for the fleece fabric i order long time ago, when i order it it has 50 yards of it, after 10 days they gonna tell me its out of stock, waited for replacement, until now no replacement... i got a lot of horrible experience with this company,,, dirty fabric that looks like somebody use it to rub on their body... really really sucks!
Answer: My business is making curtains. I have dealt with this company for the past two years and I think the customer service department is doing the best they can with trying to making it look like the company has it together. They do not have it together at all. There is no excuse with the volume of business that they do that they cannot afford a system that can tell you immediately an item is out of stock. I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased fabric from this company only to learn three days later that it is not in stock. Then they hold the rest of your order for another three to four days after you answer an email telling them to continue to ship the rest of the order. I have had fabric arrive to me balled up in a box that they didn't even bother to put in a bag, I have had fabric with shoe prints on it in the middle of the bolt or pieces of fabric missing from a ten yard order that were cut out of the middle of the ten yards. I am trying to eventually not use this company at all anymore as they don't have a clue as to how to treat customers or just don't care. The only problem is they have run all of the mom and pop online fabric stores out of business with lower prices (this was maybe two years ago) and the smaller businesses couldn't keep up with them so they closed. Now that they have the market they have raised their prices because they have very little competition out there. If you leave a good review for this company you are one in a million that have had a pleasurable experience. Just because you bought from them once and don't have a complaint means nothing, consider yourself lucky.
Answer: It's a US website, so they'll take the money in US dollars, but if they take orders from Australia your bank or payment processor will have to convert the currency according to the current exchange rate and I think they may also charge a fee for doing this.
Answer: Thank you so much for your inquiry. Please feel free to send your contact information to [email protected], and I would be more than happy to forward it to the appropriate people.
Answer: You would have been better off contacting fabric.com directly. It doesn't look like they even know about this website.
Answer: I would call or email them, including as much detail as you can... order #, what fabrics were ordered and approximately the time of the order. Have never had this happen to me from Fabric.com, have from another online site and was lucky that I got the help I needed. Good Luck.
Answer: As a customer of theirs, almost an ex-customer of theirs at this point, I can honestly say they have made absolutely no changes for the better in my case. They have paid absolutely no attention to any of my issues with them, which is why I'm about to become a former customer.
