Here was my experience: I filtered the sales to Nashville, TN (where I know there is a warehouse, we've picked merchandise bought from EBTH there before), and place a bid for $1 on a wall hanging. To their credit, I misread the dimensions, and what I thought was a poster-sized wall hanging ended up being taller than I am. The shipping estimate feature was nothing working, but, again, I had filtered this down to Nashville (but took a screenshot of the error regardless). Immediately after realizing that I didn't want this product due to it's massive size, I tried to get a hold of EBTH to retract the bid over the phone & via their form. When they finally got back to me, the auction was a few hours from closing. The warehouse this is stored in is in Ohio, and it was going to cost $70 to ship! Um, no. My responses back from their customer service was rude, they refused to be flexible and retract a bid for $1. It baffles me when companies refuse to do the easy, customer-friendly thing. This wasn't a bid that was going to prevent anyone else from making the purchase. After seeing other reviews, it looks like this isn't an uncommon issue. I would say be wary of your bids, they will stick to the fine print regardless.

Recently bid and won a cedar chest. Even though the warehouse charge is robbery. Drove 2 hours to pick it up. When we got home we took the drawer out and it was in pieces. One side was split also.so I called expecting a courteous professional resolution. I've was called a liar and told the piece was not damaged by the folks who moved it. Please! Do they think I made it up? I've bought many pieces and none have really been as described as far as condition goes. Don't waste your money. In the beginning it seemed as good as ebay but has become a company destined to fail because of outrageous shipping charges and poor customer service. Don't be tempted you'll be sorry!

I have bought so many things from here and shipping is always always always an issue. I have had it with over charging on shipping and them charging my cc without my authorization. Not to mention I was dinged $25 for a warehouse transfer because I didn't check the box to ship.
I think they actually make money on the shipping too by over charging customers. Done with this group. Ridiculous and to be honest not that nice when I have to call in. Good luck if you buy from them. You have been warned.

I have been a fan of this site for over a year now and have made many purchases, I have received every one, almost all have been in good condition when received and those that weren't they compensated me for. Communication has been an issue for them off and on but they have managed to come through in the end.
Although I have had my problems with them I have believed that they had good intentions and wanted to do right for the customers... I actually decided to consign a large number of items to them to sell and had a rep come to the house to review my items... she arrived and stated that I needed 100 items to list a individual sale, I easily had that, original paintings, deco furniture, tables, antiques, craft items, and so on. I had been watching the site for a while and knew more than she did about what they were marketing. She supposedly got a phone call and while she was on the phone the number of items needed for the individual sale listing rose from 100 items to 200 items and I would need to deliver the items to the warehouse and send an inventory ahead so they could decide what they wanted. She left saying she would get back with me.
I felt very disrespected by this person and decided a donation would be a better option for these things than working with her. She did call back the next week...
I used to find deals here but there are very few to be had any more, the sales have become far less interesting than they once were and noticeably fewer. I am sorry to see this happen as I know there are good people working hard to make this work who have no control over the decision makers. I have gone on too long here, I will still watch for a good deal but will be less enthusiastic about the site as it slips into failing mode... such a shame.

15 business days to ship after payment! What planet are they on? They say, "EBTH will use reasonable efforts to ship the merchandise within ten (10) business days after the scheduled sale removal or payment date." 40 lbs for a guitar? Boxed and packed very well should probably be no more than 25 lbs. I've shipped plenty of them. My wife says it regularly takes 2-3 weeks for something to ship. Never again will they get my money.

They lost me after first 3 purchases. The Waterford lamp arrived with no harp, no shade and I suspect it wasn't Waterford at all because the glass is chintzy. EBTH told me that since none of their photos showed the harp or top of lamp and description did not say it had the harp, there was nothing they would do about it. I paid $160 for a lamp that was described as Good but arrived in a non working state. Next, I bought an I framed large painting for $56 that weighed about 3 lbs. they wanted $158 to ship it so I told them to keep the painting. Instead, they charged the money to my on file credit card without my authorization. Horrible company, no willingness to work a problem out and exorbitant shipping fees.

I have purchased a few items on EBTH and in the beginning I really liked this site. I usually only bid on items I could pick up and the few times I had items shipped the items arrived well wrapped and in good condition. The reason I will no longer use this site is the blatant dishonesty about where an item is located. I am in the Boston, MA area and when I look at items in this area they are never there. They are in Blue Ash, Ohio! And don't even get me started on the shipping charges. Oh, and now they have a $30 warehouse fee pick up charge. So add that cost in to whatever you pay for an item. With these changes I can't believe they will survive. The idea is simple enough. Someone with a better understanding of estate sale clients will be along soon with a better model.

Just "won" two items on EBTH. Was pleased to get the Limoge bowl and tray and a signed lithograph for $1 each. I had bought it on an auction listed as Marlborough, MA. I would only bid on Boston area auctions as the cost of shipping seems rather excessive. I just phoned EBTH to get the address in Marlborough for picking it up. No, I was told. It had to be shipped at a cost of $140 plus dollars. Very misleading! Why mention that the items are from Marlborough if they can't be gotten in Marlborough? Of course I told them to keep my $2.00 and I will never look at their site again!

Won an Item in Feb, Vigorously complain I did not receive the item, even though
Their worksite shows it was shipped. Their Customer Service attitude was dont call Us we will call you, unable to escalate to a supervisor. I contacted my Credit card company And I was told They had till June 9th or they would reverse the charge. Miraculously the Item showed up the day before. You would expect after being overcharged for shipping That they could have shipped it sooner than 4 months? I dont even want the item anymore

EBTH Fraudulently advertised an expensive item I purchased and would not stand behind their mistake. They do not have experienced people that know what items are. And the shipping is way over priced. I Will never buy from again and would advise everyone to stay away. I have noticed something with EBTH that almost all the items I bid on will always go up to just under my highest bid and I would not be surprised that EBTH can see the bids and bid the price of the item up. I Will go back to Ebay because the buyer is protected and shipping is a lot cheaper. I am so over EBTH

I wrote a review last month as a consignor of items to EBTH.com. I was not happy with the entire process. Now, in the interest of being a fair and reasonable human being, I am writing another review from the Buyer side. My curiosity was peaked after reading so many review so I wanted to have the Buyer experience. I placed a bid on a piece for $1 and actually won. It was a framed drawing from early 1900's. No glass on piece and imperfections were noted in pictures. I was charged immediately and the item arrived soon after - about 4-5 business days. The piece, which was 17x17 was packed very well and there was no damage during shipping. I was pleasantly surprised. My recommendation still stands... Buyer AND Seller beware and do so at your own risk.

Every item I have purchased has NOT been as described. They are SUPER slow to ship (Took almost 2 months to get a globe!)
CAREFUL because their shipping charges might change! Shipping is WAY too high. And it seems items that do not sell for certain amounts get jacked up shipping rates. My shipped est was $18 for a SMALL portable dvd player, but then once I won the item for $20, it was $43 to ship!
I will not be buying anything else from them!

Never an easy transaction always a problem with billing and shipping. Charged 36.00 for a envelope size purchase, when I was at the post office I asked what would this price be to ship from Ohio to me, The post office price was 7.16. They nick-el and dime you. A lot of the items I bought when I received them they were very misleading in their description. End result I closed my account.

I'm not sure if these people are stupid or evil. I hired them to sell the contents of my house. They misidentified nearly everything. They placed items in lots that make no sense. They're selling a clock with no key because when I showed the idiot magpies they sent to my house the key, they laughed at me. The prices they will get you are garage sale level and they take 40% of that. There is not one single positive thing I can say about this company. Do yourself a favor and never hire them to sell your items.

I was initially so excited to find this website and saw so many interesting items. I found a small oil painting that I loved and continuously bid until I won. I ended up paying a fairly high price for small painting, but it was exactly what I wanted... or so I thought.

The problems started when I had shipping questions. I sent numerous e-mails but no one responded. Huge red flag! After a MONTH of winning the bid, I finally relieved my painting in the mail. I was horrified when I opened the box.

In all pictures on the website, the paint was bright colors that were somewhat muted (a sunset). The actual painting is super vivid colors. I would actually use the word garish to describe the color of the sky in some places. It is bright turquoise around the edges of the sunset which take up a significant amount of space on the painting. It looks so unreal as the sky is obviously never this color.

I am an avid amateur photographer with a calibrated monitor so the fault is not on my end. It looks like there was a ton of Photoshop manipulating done to the photos to make the piece more attractive. I think they decreased the saturation to the overall piece and lightened the shadows on the ground piece. There are details on the ground in the photo I can barley see in the brightest of light on the actual piece.

This experience has left me somewhat heartbroken as the painting was a spurge for me and I anxiously waited a month for it. The painting was supposed to go as the final piece in a gallery wall, now it is going to be banished to a wall that isn't very noticeable in my home. What a huge disappointment and waste of money.

I have purchased 3 items from 2 different auctions. The first item was a turntable and the pictures they took were at angles that made things look better than they were. They shipped it without locking the tonearm down or locking the platter, so being shipped to me the tonearm is flying around the needle was knocked off the cover looked like it was dragged down a gravel street and it was taped to the base which was knocked off also. I got in touch with EBTH and I might of as well talked to the wall. I gave in and threw it away. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT EBTH THEY ARE CROOKS!
