I have a very bad experience with DirectV. One they over charged me and also took their equipment from me. After I have paid them all their money and be with them for two year. When I canceled their service, they want me to pay them another $149 for canceling the service and reported on my credit score as late payment. Too bad a company and they are not honest in their billings. I will not encourage anybody to go with DirecTV.

I tried to get Direct TV from AT&T. The installer wanted me to pay $75.00 for a pole and $70.00 to dig a 15 foot long ditch. The installer want me to pay him cash. I canceled this because that was not said when I made arrangements to get it. This is not how you do business with people.

RIPOFF
June 1, 2022

Loyalty means nothing to them. My bill suddenly went up by over $70. When I called, they said my discount had run out, but since I was a loyal customer I could receive a $60 discount starting in a month. I asked to have it back dated and was told they do not have a way to back date. Once money received no way to give credit. I researched and decided to go to YOUTUBE TV. When called to cancel was told once again that I could not cancel during billin cycle - once bill is sent full month is due. I had Directv for more than 10 years - how stupid of me!

Poor service
May 28, 2022

Problem with satellite began on may 21, unable to get service call until may 27. Waited 4 hours to realize that service date was changed without notification to may 28. Waited for 4 hours called to see where service man was? Was informed that he was at the house which was a lie. Service man described house, never rang door bell, texted or knocked on door. I am now waiting again for him since 1230. Has not arrived. Direct tv is fine if there is no problem. I would not recommend to anyone due to poor service.

I would rate the company a negative 0.

I moved to a new place and transferred my Direct TV, but they mistakenly note it as cancel and charged me $120 for an extra device!, after calling AT&T more than 15 times, No body could resolve the issue and they gave it to collection agency.
BE CAREFUL DEALING WITH AT&T. Worst Customer service!

Moving and canceled service. After 4 phone calls and 60 days still haven't received our refund, which they say will be a prepaid Mastercard. Why they can't simple refund in my payment method is beyond me. Now they say it will be another 14-20 days before we receive the PP-card. Every time I call I'm told something different. Because of this extremely poor service we will not subscribe to DirectTV again. This situation is beyond frustrating.

Error code 771. I call to get service for a faulty satellite. I explained that the receivers are working. As I spoke to "Ethan", out of this country, he explained that I have to add a service protection on "their" equipment to get service. A hundred dollar charge to get their service out to fix equipment I lease from them. He also explained that I can cancel after they fix and this way they would reimburse. I asked why do I have to go out of my way to do this? Your product not mine. I pay $165 dollars just for this service and now I have to add a service of $99.99. So I ask to cancel. I get transfer to "Oscar" who tells me the same thing but then tells me I will also lose my internet and my phone service as well. Plus a cancellation fee. What a way to treat a customer who has been over paying for this service. I only stayed with them because of NFL ticket. You can now just pay for that and get service any where else. So I told him I would call him back. I will look for different provider and have everything set before they just shut it down. Thank you for your help Direct TV. Once ATT bought you, all jobs get transfer out of USA. Great job.

Not Right
May 22, 2022

So I went to an AT&T store. I was have Financial issues and was looking for a lower price package than what I had. I wasn't trying to eliminate the service I was trying to get a cheaper package so I didn't have to cancel my service. AT&T representative talked me into Dtv stream. I got it home and within a few days of trying to figure out how it works. I realized it didn't work for me. So life happened work, kids, etc. I called to cancel the dtv stream the guy on the phone said return it to the store. So while on the phone with AT&T's representative I brought it back. One guy said sure let me just have the manger override it. Sorry you weren't happy. Then the manger just flat out told me no cause I was 4 days passed the return date. So the representative on the phone sends me to usps to ship return it. After 2hours of running around I was told I couldn't return it. And will be charged 115.++ for the less then 30 day equipment. Upset I cancelled my other Dtv service which I had for over 2 years. Here I was told I would be charge an equipment fee if my old equipment wasn't return in 10days. Now since I cancelled all my Dtv services. I'm hoping AT&T see this review and Reconciled the situation. Before I find another cell phone provider and cancel my 20+years of service. My son has already cancelled his Dtv and is ready to cancel his cell service. 3 generations of AT&T loyal customers about to be gone do to this issue. I am more then willing to send back this brand new equipment that is only trash to me now.

This all started with a trip to Sam's Club, a salesman at the AT&T/Direct TV kiosk asked me "who I use for my cellphone provider" After talking for a while we decided to switch from Dish to Direct. We have a pretty basic plan through Dish and only pay $70 per month for the service, I was told that I can get a much better package (more and better channels) that included the "sports package" all for $80 per month. It was explained to me that we can buy the boxes that we need for additional tv's and this would keep our monthly bill lower, however, our first bill would be very high due to all the equipment. So just to recap my Sam's experience, I was getting Direct TV for $80 per month with so much more than Dish.

Three weeks later we finally get the system installed. The installer had the wrong information and went to a different address, showed up several hours after he was supposed to, the system could not be set up that day due to some type of issue! The installer came back the next day, he explained that the setup would take around 30 minutes… 3-1/2 hours later we have Direct TV. Come to find out the home office never made a work order for our address. (I understand this is not the installers fault and I do not blame him for any of these issues) I was not able to be home during all this, however, the wife filled me in on the inefficiencies of this service. Once I was able to turn on the TV and search through the channels, I quickly realized that I do not have the sports package or any of these other channels that were discussed at Sam's. I figured it was a mistake and called the 800 number to get it resolved. I was told that what I agreed to is set up and if I wanted the sports package it would be an additional $14 per month, I asked how much am I paying now for "what I agreed to" the rep says $130! I told them what the sales rep said and at the end of a very long conversation it was decided that they could not help me. We had direct for approximately 1 hour before I canceled their service. This was a bait and switch! If I wanted to keep my service and get all that I was promised, it was going to be around $155 per month. Stay away from this company!

Direct tv stream
May 19, 2022

Terrible experience. They autobilled my debit card, but when I wanted to cancel, they couldn't find my account after nearly 90 minutes on the phone and 8 different people and 3 phone disconnects. The people I spoke with were all polite and professional but they couldn't help me. I had to cancel the payment with the bank.
The streaming service was also terrible. Cut out constantly, difficult to change channels. I went back to cable and I'm very happy that I did.

Utter confusion within DirecTV's customer service center. They really struggle with the basics. It all started with the AT&T merger. They appear to use the same call center staff to manage both cellphone and DirecTV customers.

Deception
April 18, 2022

Were quoted monthly, prices for direct tv entertainment package, and verified with salesman on phone asked twice and wrote all conversations down. Received bill summary for first month was a lot higher than was quoted, called customer service they fixed problem for first month got second months bill it was way higher than before, contacted customer service again and was told nothing could be done that the salesman that represents ATT had not been honest with me. Be Careful when dealing with ATT/Direct TV.

Shipping
April 12, 2022

I have canceled my service in January and still no returning boxes. I have called them multiple times to receive them and nothing. This is the second time for asking them to send a shipping label to my email because why should the customer pay for shipping when they want back the equipment. I don't understand why it's so hard for them to send a shipping label! Every time I have to call them it takes over thirty minutes to try to resend a shipping label. I live in the country so wouldn't it be easier to send a shipping label to an email or another mailbox instead sending it to the home address multiple times and I still don't receive nothing. Sending the shipping label and boxes to the home address hasn't worked if I'm still waiting to receive them since January. A customer service rep told me if I take it to FedEx or UPS they will take it although, as a customer for seven years they expect me to pay for the shipping label I don't think so! I suppose they really don't want there equipment back that bad.

You only watch about 10% of the channels. The rewards I was promised for signing up never came. When I called they said I wasn't qualified. So they offered me half $100 from $250) but three weeks later I'm told it hasn't even been processed. We got service in Jan. Now it's April. And you sign up for two years. THEN they tell you that special price is only good for one year. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
