I ordered 2 trees. I got 2 dead 4" sticks. When I immediately wrote to them they NEVER respond. I mailed and emailed for 3 months with no response... finally gave up and learned a $40 lesson.
Baffled this place still operates.
Requested a cancellation after customer service refused to provide order status. When asked to speak to someone in charge, rep actually had the audacity to say that the person in their US facility in charge of handling plants only accepts hand-written notes. I remained polite amidst my frustration but my number as since been blocked.
Sorry if you've been similarly Had. Just remember these people have to look at themselves in the mirror each morning. Report them, move on, and don't let this sour the very hobby that allows us to momentarily forget that these soulless people exist
I ordered trees. Got bunch of sticks, no roots dead. Ripoff. Dont waste your money on this. I have emailed and fill the page on their website to contact me but nothing.
Ordered 10 bareroot hibiscus, 6 daylilies, 2 snowball bushes, glads, & seeds. 1st problem missing hibscus & seeds. 2nd problem everything died, finally got seeds & they didn't even germinate... total order worthless. Customer service... nasty, argumentive, unconcerned. Filed claim with BBB, DG lied & told them they'd refund when they told me they would not. Told BBB they wanted original shipping label for refund, I told BBB others sent in original shipping label & NEVER got replacements nor refunds. BBB declared DG was making an honest effort to refund & closed case. Got letter from DG stating they would send replacements, not the refund they told BBB, as soon as they got original shipping label. DG lied to BBB. They lied to me. Had I seen all the negative reviews I'd have NEVER bought from these scammers. BEWARE!
Ordered plants that in the past have always grown for me. It wasn't a large order just $54 worth, but nothing at all grew, they all withered & died even with my expertise of 50 yrs of gardening with fruits, veggies, & flowers of all kinds. I don't want replacements of such bad quality plants, I just want a refund & DG is giving me the run-around. Don't buy from this company, they do not send quality products nor back up their promise all things will grow.
I paid for 6 weeping cherry seedlings and got branch cuttings not a seedling i could've done that myself all the roots were cooked from being shipped in a bag no green on any of the sticks that were sent just a shame
Once you place an order you are stuck. You cannot cancel. I placed an order and in a week I called and they said they did not ship as they take 2 week processing time. I called after 2 weeks and asked the status and they said they won't ship until late fall as there was an item in the order that that is causing the delay. I told them to cancel/remove that item and ship my order they said it is not possible and I asked to cancel my whole order. They said ship label is created and they cannot cancel the order. So I opened up the dispute with my credit card company and after the dispute was opened they sent the shipment minus that one item. I asked them to cancel and they still sent me the items. They sent mostly dried roots/twigs. Very few are alive and mostly dead.
Very very unhappy. Do not buy from these people. You will lose your money. It's not at all worth buying at this place. Look at my pic below. I paid $189 for those plants.
I called as soon as plants arrive not good condition. I was told that what bare root plants are like and to plant. When they didn't sprout called again and was told to send back. Plants rotted in the ground nothing to send. I returned lable and pkg info for money back was sent back everyday with letter no money back. I wrote back with replace item. Never got anything and now return us past expired time so will never buy from them again. Don't waste time or money in these "good" deals.
I ordered barefoot gunnera manicata from them twice. After much care and nurturing, following instructions, They finally sprouted after months. The leaves didn't represent the plant I ordered. After much back and forth, they wanted my old shipping label, which I didn't keep after all that time. I finally sent a picture, told them I didn't want a refund... but to identify the plant. They are gladiolus. Clearly this website doesn't have any knowledge of plants and they ship randomly... never again.
I contacted Direct Gardening about the 7 dead plants. They won't do anything about this. I will never shop there again! I would give them a minus star if I could.

I bought 2 butterfly bushes in June, they arrived dead. I waited then sent them in with the label asking for replacement, about 2 weeks later they sent a email stating they didn't get the lable. I made copies Abe sent thinking a reliable company would fix my complaint. 14 entails later I get one today stating they lost the original and I need to contact the credit card company to prove, I purchased. Now I have pictures of the lable, they are on a line that states my name to them as the one guy told me so. All this for 17.97. I gave sent the first one ay 3.80 the second for 4.97 now I need to send another certified letter... It's costing more than the darn things cost in the first place. NEVER BUY FROM THIS SCREWED UP ORGINIZATION!
This is absolutely the worst company I've had to deal with in 30 years! I mean absolutely the worst. What company in 2019 needs a shipping label to return items! I didn't keep the label and the company refuses to send me my additional flowers that I paid for. I sent the invoice, email confirmation and packing slip but that wouldn't suffice to get my flowers that were left off my original order. Based on the reviews, I think the company is intentionally shortening orders to make money! BUYERS STAY AWAY!
F this place. They shouldn't be in business and they don't value their customers in the least.

Direct Gardening is a scam outfit... DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I purchased 12 burning bushes on 5/19, they were shipped regular mail and I get not get the package until 5/24. The package had 9 of the 12 plants dead twigs. I contacted their customer service group and they told me to just plant them to see if they live. After the plants were in the ground for 3 weeks I still had only 3 of them alive (no green bark), so I contacted their customer service group again and they told me to send the mailing label with a request for replacement plants, which I did... I just received a form letter from them saying that the warranty was void because it had not been 6 weeks. They were dead before I planted them, so another 3 weeks would not have made a difference. I will NEVER do business with them again!
If I could give them a -5 I would. I ordered 24 Crown Vetch plants. When they arrived they were moldy and looked dead. I thought that I would give them a chance and planted them. Only 3 ever came up. I was foolish not to save the packing slip. I called them thinking that they would replace them for me for good customer Service. They didn't care at all. I would advise all to never order from Direct Gardening again.
I ordered several plants and Trumpet plants arrived as sticks. May grow but not in my lifetime! Two cheap ferns tropical ferns were sent instead of what I ordered that were more expensive. As others mentioned their phone only rings busy, and after sending several emails which they state will be answered within 24 hrs I have not gotten a response. I have lodged a complaint with my Credit card company.
I will also contact the Better Business bureau in their state. OTHERS SHOULD TOO!
I am still awaiting delivery of the product so please view this review as of the service vs product quality. I have found this site's service level to be less than what I had expected. I say this in the context of their frequency of communication, speed of response to an inquiry, adequacy of information in responses received and speed of order processing and shipment. At the time I placed my order I placed orders with three other gardening sites. All three of the other sites provided more information and quicker responses than Direct Gardening. In addition, I have received the plants I ordered from the other sites days ago. I am still awaiting information from Direct Gardening on their shipping dates and carrier. I wait to see the condition of the plants whenever I do receive them. At the moment the above remains my opinion
I do not suggest going through the trouble of dealing with this extremely disappointing company. I wish I had paid attention to reviews before I did.
Do not buy plants from this co. Multiple email asking what was taking so long for my delivery. Multiple excuses. I'm going to attempt a refund.
I ordered from this company end of March- they charged me account on 4/5. As of 4/27 I had not received anything (either the order or an email advising when plants would be shipped). I called customer service a few minutes ago and they could not tell me when the item would be shipped. HORRIBLE service and order fulfillment. I would have been satisfied if I was told when it would be shipped but they couldn't. No way to run a business; they should be ashamed of themselves
Answer: Yes it Is absolutely real. They are thieves. I just called my credit card company to do the dispute becoz they are not responsible for the dead plants they sent to me with all the charges including the shipping fee. This company has to be shut down for their dishonest business. I will fight for it and no more people will be mistreated and cheated.
