Unfortunately these reviews were found long after the fact. Wasted $160 on dead sticks as well. You must have the original shipping label (not paid invoice) to get a replacement. Buyer beware.
Anyone who has bought from this company please contact the states Governors office. Report this company. Allot of people have already reported this company and we need to get them shut down. They sell dead trees ( these are not doormat trees) these are dead bushes this company bought from nurseries that are shutting down
These did not look like "bare root trees" they looked like dead sticks shipped in the equivalent of a red trash bag. Some were broken on arrival. I planted them last summer but have not seen any life from the two still planted. The rest broke of, etc. it is kind of hard to send back dead rootless sticks, that are no longer sticking out of the ground. Save your money and buy a real tree!
This company is a scam and a waste of time and effort. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WARRANTIES AND WILL ONLY WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESN'T EXIST WITH THEM!
Order was shorted. Customer service was useless. This company has 170 + reviews & 455- reviews. Save your money and purchase from a more reputable company
Terrible company to deal with. Was told when I ordered (many plants) in September that it would arrive in two weeks. Then once I got a confirmation email it stated middle of October. Tried cancelling but they said they could not do so (even though it was middle of September) due to the order being complicated to cancel once it was made and that I should just return them once they arrived. Flowers arrived in middle of October and sent them directly back (cost me $20) with their return slip and packaging. We are at the end of February and I have yet to receive my refund and now the tell me that have no receipt of my return. Horrible, Terrible and nothing but pure incompetence company. Be warned!
PLEASE don't order from this company. 11/14/2018 I order 3 cactus and I was told they would ship in the spring. I called and cancel my order... 3 weeks later they arrived I was surprised because I cancelled. Sent back the order. They said they haven't received them. I was told to give them more time for them to receive. E-mail they will not answer. I am a senior on Medicare I wanted to get my friends a Christmas gift on a little budget 4.99 each. Now it's Feb. 6.2019 They may have won this battle and got my 24.96 But, Every knee will bow when we meet God and he will judge and THEY WILL Pay!
To make my saga on dead plants replacement short, I would recommend customers (especially from warm climate states) to avoid business with Direct Gardening as much as possible. Otherwise you will be trapped in their mismanaged, unprofessional, procrastinated and neglected environment. Mockery for the customers is their idea of customer service. They simply care less of what is customer's need. Their on-line marketing is a bluff, and the whole enterprise - a scam.
If I can give them "zero" star, then I will!
On Wed, May 23,2018, 7:37 AM, I was place an order with direct gardening for Angel's trump 3 in 1 (3 color in 1 plant Angel Trumpets are shipped in a 2 1/4 inch pot, about 6 inches tall), with warranty 1 year.
Jan 2019 the plant has flower, but only 1 Peach color (I already have this color), so I contact them with the picture, email back and forth for 2 weeks, then they agree replace (or store credit?) with another plant, but I have to use the label they was send out 8 months ago to send a return item? IS THIS A JOKE?
My entire order arrived DEAD loss of time and money i called and they said send them back with original packaging i did months ago still waiting for replacements never again
Terrible customer service. They sent me dead tree's I ordered 30 trees total and would not replace or refund my money I sent them over 6 e-mails with no response
All together I lost over 500.00
I would have given them a 0 rating but that option was not available
I paid the shipping and they shipped me the plants are completely impossible to plant. They were almost dead when the time of shipment plus they did very lousy shipping. The soils are everywhere in the bag and the plants are seperate from the container and dead not plantable.
Stay away from this company, they are sham company, they send dry wood as plant and charge me! I always assume that gardners are descent people but direct gardening. It is a shame!
Unfortunately, I didn't read these reviews before I ordered. On Sept. 23, I ordered a clematis plant. I received it Oct. 17. It looked like 3 inches of dried roots and one-half inch of the plant above the roots. I soaked it and will try to plant as it isn't worth sending back. Sorry to say that on Sept. 24, I also ordered about 5 small flowering plants. I have not received that order and shudder to think what they will look like-- I'm guessing
Dried small twigs. Oh well, lesson learned. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS SHAM COMPANY!
I ordered Creeping Phlox (over 100 plants) on August 17,2018. It took them two months to process the order. Do they look at the state/zip of customers to realize that I live in Chicago and can't plant in December. Half of the plants arrived dry-dead and half rotten. What a waste of time and money!

What did a I get...
1]3 Apricots in stead of Arizona Sun
2] two non drawf or full size
3] three have never bloomed
4]Five have died
5]the rest got a fungus disease
Considering Gaillardia's don't but them here

I ordered a North Start Dwarf Cheery tree from Direct Gardening. It arrived dead, not dormant. Brittle branches, loosing roots and dead buds are not signs of a dormant plant.
It indeed was a dwaft. It measured a little over a foot. Their website stated the tree was 3-4 feet tall. The tree was delivered by the USPS in my standard size mailbox. How do you fit a 3-4 foot tree in a standard size mailbox (mine is about 20 inches deep)? You can't. Total misrepresentation and in my opinion fraudulent.
The tree was shipped in a plastic bag and not a box. Customer Service is slow. Took them 4 days to get back with me on first email to them. Still have not heard from them in regards to my second email. They are not very responsive and timely which makes me question their motives (14 days to sent the tree back for a refund)
I tried to keep an open mind about this company and give them a chance to make things right. Bottom line, there is NOTHING I can say that is good about this company. In my professional experience (over 40 years), these type companies ultimately fail and end up in bankruptcy court.
They don't have an active phone, They don't answer. They take the money and you never hear from them again

I ordered over $140 worth of plants my first order. They arrived in horrible to "dead" state. They offer to replace but you have to send in original label (which I did) each time. Then they replace with more horrible plants. You also have to send everything snail mail so I always sent certified so they had to reply. I've lost money with them because you finally get so beat down from dealing with then you just give up! The last time I sent back the "fix" plants that were in poor condition I did not send certified... big mistake they never responded and I just threw in the towel! Never do business with this company!
I have now received 3 replacement orders for the 3 dead replacements they have sent. Customer service is rude and insulting, and make it next to impossible to prove they are in the wrong. This is really a bad scam company. Save your time and money, and work with an HONEST company
They send dead twigs and when the dead twig does not bloom, they replace it with another dead twig. I ordered 2 Hydrangea trees, not even one of them had a little hint of green color.
Answer: Yes it Is absolutely real. They are thieves. I just called my credit card company to do the dispute becoz they are not responsible for the dead plants they sent to me with all the charges including the shipping fee. This company has to be shut down for their dishonest business. I will fight for it and no more people will be mistreated and cheated.
