I have seen nothing but bad reviews for Deposit Photo but I'm a bit surprised. Many people have commented on not being told they would automatically be put on auto renew but I received that notification from them and also from PayPal. I think it all comes down to reading what you're buying. If you read it's clearly there. I also did research and frankly I was hesitant to purchase but I know some designer who do use them with no problems so I gave it a shot. So far they've been very helpful with the one issue I had. And I also want to point out many reputable stock sites have this same auto-renew practice. Again, you just have to read the fine print.
As others have stated, autorenew is selected by default. If you opted for pay as you go, you need to first disable autorenew and then you will be able to delete your credit card from their records. Very misleading practices, I won't be using them after I use up my credits. BTW, they don't allow for partial refund of credits, so buy as little as you need!
Got some awesome tattoo designs here for free. BE SURE TO STOP FREE SUBSCRIPTION BEFORE IT RENEWS AND CHARGES YOUR CREDIT CARD. They tell you how, you just gotta remeber to do it.
I purchased one month subscription and do not remember subscribing for Auto Renew. For my surprise, they have been charging me for 2 months straight and when I reached to their customer service, they offer to give credits for use and NO MONEY BACK. Sad part is there is NO WAY to remove the credit card details from their site... BAD PEOPLE... MAY GOD PUNISH THEM...
Don't come near depositphotos.com!
I had very BAD experience with them as to automatic subscription renewal. They scamming their customers where they don't tell you in your order confirmation NOR in the process of paying that they'll charge you again automatically the following month. Then, when you find out about that they're saying that there's NO WAY they can cancel this charge and refer you to the website to remove the automatic charge for the following month. There there's no place where you can cancel it BUT only when asking support to do this.
Just think about all the money they're doing for this SCAM where they've thousands of new customers WW every month automatically being renew their subscription without knowing about this...
Find what i want in 3 clicks usally, not seeing the probs reported here. I like it for the new images every week. Yah, theres old stuff, which is okay, but I laff when I see I'm the first to use a new photo. Ha! Take that iStockholes.
I lost 20 Eur + VAT due to DEPOSITPHOTO unfair method. I bought monthly subscription plan. After 1 month it some how, magically was renewed! I am sure I press Auto-renewal OFF" when I bought it. I complained to custoMer service. They offered me to change my "2 downloads" into "20 credits", and to keep credits for 1 year. They couldn't offer a refund...
I will search for another, safer stockphoto website.
Once I figured out subscriptions meant “auto-renew” I got it. I buy 50/mo easy, so monthly sub beats credit prices. Suport guy said to time sub to renew just before big deadlines, so theres time to order out of next month if I run out, which was smart advice. Keywords are wonky, tho.
What these sad people have written about Depositphotos is just not fair. The comments clearly show people who don’t pay attention to what they’re doing. I have been a happy customer for over five years now, and I have always been treated fairly. Sure, there have been times when I there were problems, but tech support always helped me figure it out. I got a refund after I had a medical emergency and couldn’t get to my computer to close my subscription – they couldn’t have been nicer, in fact. I don’t think these unhappy reviewers had a clear idea what was going on. Heck, how hard is it to figure out PayPal?
Good photos and goo dprices, just what I need for lo-$ client pubs. - One Getty pic blows my budget for a year. Zero problem with subscrips - Buy a clue, whiners: read before you sign.
Love this site, I have always found something I was looking for, and I had some really strange client requests. I tried their trial offer, and a representative helped me change it to the kind of subscription I wanted in two minutes. I adjust it as my graphic needs change. Never had a billing problem, never had a file problem, and I got answers to both my questions (in three years!) within two days in email. What’s not to like?
When you sign up there is an auto renew box that you are supposed to uncheck if you do not want to be billed for your auto renewal. Don't be fooled into thinking they will honor this. They went right ahead and billed my account even though they had no authority to do so for an additional load of credits. Now I am fighting with them to get my money refunded. I am very sorry that I ever used this site. Please learn from my mistake. There are a lot of honorable sites out there, this is NOT one of them. STAY AWAY!
I purchased a few credits because I needed some stock photos. When I used the last few credits, with 1 credit remaining, they auto renewed my credits and charged me $32, even though I had set my auto-renew as "inactive". No warning or confirmation. Just a charge that I wasn't expecting and couldn't afford.
I don't usually write reviews but I wanna expose Depositphotos.
When I found Depositphotos I thought it would be great website for buying stock images, because it advertised the cheap price but as soon as I bought my first subscription with these fraud they charged my card and blocked my account and after the verification and using my subscription the charged my card again without my knowledge for next 3 months. It took 15 days for me to get my money back I complaint a file against Depositphotos and I hope I will stop them from stealing money from users card
So, I have a few article writers that log in to my Wordpress site, write articles and insert photos. I like using purchased stock photos rather than hot-linked photos from wikipedia or Flicker, but I don't like giving my login info out for stock photo sites nor do I want to always be the middle man. In comes Microstock plugin - works great with iStock (and for new site images, that's my go-to site, but they're way too high priced for every day blog articles).
Turns out DepositPhotos api is broken and has been for a few months and they all but refuse to fix it. So I'm back to the manual photo shuffle again.
If you value your sanity, just go buy from another stock photo provider - one more reputable and reliable. I bought cheaply and I got what I paid for.
depositphotos.com is a junk and they still money from users.
I frequently charged my account to buy photos... and frequently it dissapears credits from account. I didnt see that, until now, when I saw that I have 0 credits.
On my account page there is not page where I can trace history of money an credits.
I asked the support to tell me why I have 0 credits... and after 4-5 emails exchanged... they told me the credits expire after a period.
What is this?!? My money dosnt expire, but your credit does?!?!?
WATCH OUT GUYS, MONTHY SUBSCRIPTION GOES ON AND ON, ITS AUTO RENEWS ITSELF... CUSTOMER SERVICE ARE ROBOTS.
Buy Cheap, pay dear! This company offers a cheap pay-as-you-go system for infrequent users however if you use them infrequently they remove your paid for credits. It's an insane system, it doesn't cost them anything to leave your credits on-site, so why would they just take them from you? They offered me more credits at 10% discount err, no... just give me the credits back that I've already paid for!
I have had two very negative experiences with Depositphotos. First, I fell victim to the same issue that many others have complained about: they set up an auto-renew at the end of every month without making it clear. I had to report them to the Better Business Bureau (where there are PLENTY of other complaints registered!) before they agreed to refund the second month. Secondly, my most recent subscription was supposed to run through June 18th, and most people would assume that means midnight of 6/18. They made my account inactive at around 6:00 p.m. on the 18th. When I complained, they said that they went by exactly what time of day I had started my subscription even though there is no mention of that on their site. The customer service rep I communicated with clearly does not understand the term "customer service." They are a very unprofessional company.
I am sorry to say that but people of Depositphotos are thieves.
Deopsitphotos suspended my account for no apparent reason.
Few days ago Tuesday night, I noticed something was funky with my account when it got signed out automatically, It had said 0 credits on my account.
Thinking it was my browser, and decided to check it with another browser
It STILL said 0 credits on both and suddenly got logout.
Feeling concerned, I contacted live chat, the did not help me and I filed a ticket, (still waiting for reply). Next day I decided to log into my account again and that's the message I got "This login was blocked. Please contact our support service to resolve this problem."
I don't understand why Depositphotos took my credits and blocked my account for no reason.
Answer: I chose them because other websites are too expensive for the amount you get. This is not an issue if this is being done in a commercial setting as cost is part of doing business. I on the other hand am a digital artist who creates non commercially and do not profit off my creations. I create for the sake of creating. I am able to get 30 downloads for $30 a month which for my purposes is perfect. For someone that just wants to create art non commercially then depositphotos offers the best value.
