Depop doesn't know how rip-offs operate online, so they're always in the dark about what to do. In short, they let scammers get away. If anyone needs a website to scam on, this is the one! An unhip place for hipsters to scam.

There are rating systems in place, in online market places, in case a buyer receives a bad item, for a reason. So you can let everyone know there's a scammer. NOT ON DEPOP! EVEN IF you leave bad feedback for a bad seller, Depop will mark your review as 5 star anyway! NOTE TO REVIEW LEAVERS: Make sure you're clear in the review about what the seller did wrong, the star system does not function (that or the people working there are very shady individuals). IT MAKES ZERO SENSE FOR A BUSINESS TO ENABLE SCAMMERS ON THEIR WEBSITE. If your business is known to harbor rip-offs (a negative) and honest people get ripped off (a BIG negative. They have the money!) then honest people won't return to your site (seeing a pattern here? BAD.) which means the only people left... ARE RIP-OFFS! Good job, Depop! You'll learn eventually. Not today unfortunately...

Purchased 3 items that were all the same size but when they arrived 2 of them were kids sizes and one was regular womans size. I tried to return with the seller but she stopped responding so I contacted customer service. They told me to return the items with tracked shipping (cost $55) and they would refund me. The seller claimed to never receive the items and depop refused to give me a refund because the 'tracked shipping' didn't include a postal code which Canada Post doesn't do for security reasons. I had the customs information attached which showed proof of address but it still wasn't enough. After about 20 emails back and fourth I opened a dispute with my bank. Depop has now suspended my account and sent me this email:

As we haven't heard back from you, we've had to take the action of suspending your account.

We urge you to contact your bank and withdraw this dispute claim as soon as possible so that we can assist you.

Please note, you will be unable to open any further accounts on Depop unless this situation has been resolved.

Please do let me know if you need any further information to resolve this.

Absolutely awful customer service. I don't need my account because I won't be shopping from your company again.

I have a very small shop on Depop- its been amazing to offload some things I dont use anymore (or never have for some things) - payment is through paypal or depop itself, either way your covered if the item is faulty, not as described, counterfiet ect. While Ive had two bad experiences with fake disigner products from two seperate people I have gotten my money back despite it being a bit of a pain (but hey compared to what I've gone through with house of CB its peanuts) - what I LOVE about Depop is the positive attitude of 99% of the shop owners. Everyone is so polite, patient and positive. Yes I may have brought the most cheapest fake "Gucci SoHo disco bag" that ever was made but I've also had some family issues that have prevented me from shipping my sold items as quick as I would like but everyone is so understanding and lovely. Its encouraged to leave positive feedback and unless you have really had a bad experience you'd be hard pressed to do so. I love this platform tbh

When people come to the support team asking for a help of buying thing, and after they asked your username, they ridiculously closed their account. HELLO? Asking for A HELP not A TROUBLE. Sometimes I don't really know if the support team are really working with the brains. Users are the most important things for the app, otherwise how you earn the money? OH Yea, they earn the money from the fake items or fast fashion verified seller.

Ive brought 2 items of Depop. One item was a £50 coat. The girl responded on the day my item should have technically arrived at my house, she told me she had already sold the item but forgot to mark it as sold. Ive had to set up a Paypal dispute which has been a nightmare. I am still awaiting my refund. The second item i brought (another coat as the other one never arrived) the girl i brought it from had good reviews, ive messaged to ask when it will be shipped and have been ignored. Its been 2 weeks and it looks like another Paypal dispute is pending.
To sum it up, it is ALOT more trouble than its worth buying on Depop.
All though its likely i will get my money back (fingers crossed) I have still been left nearly £100 down and i now have to mess around to get my money back from items i never recieved.

Bought a handbag fir over $800. Seller out in random tracking# from Amazon. Can't even get help from DEPOP. You have to go through PayPal, down hours in phone & email just TRYING to recover your STOLEN money. DEPOO is a joke & ENCOURAGES FRAUD. DO NOT buy from DEPOP‼

I was a loyal Depop seller for almost 2 years. I had almost 500 sales and was one month away from hitting my sales goals and making top seller, when Depop terminated my account. After emailing them back and forth over 30 times, they basically said "sorry, nothing we can do about it". I had 350+ 5 star reviews and almost 10k followers. They don't care about the sellers at all. My entire income was taken away because of one mistake. They're run by Etsy and their new management has HORRIBLE seller protection. Do yourself a favor and don't sell here.

Depop is a scammer's paradise. Nearly all of the "sellers" are inactive, despite having active listings. Depop does not remove inactive listings, so if you are unfortunate enough to buy from one of these sellers, you'll never get the item you paid for and you'll be out the money, despite Depop's fictitious "money back guarantee". Sellers list items for sale without a description, you ask the seller the size or another legit question about the item, and you never get a response. I'm convinced none of the sellers on Depop are legit. The "message to purchase" nonsense on some listings should also tip you off its not legit. So many active listings and inactive / scam sellers with no intent to sell. I've ran across a seller who had a "message to purchase" spiel on their listing, messaged them to purchase the item, only to be told they lost the item, even though there is no mention of this in the listing, and months later the item listing is still active for sale! I even ran across one seller who clearly put on their profile, "Nothing is for sale", despite having active listings for sale, and Depop would not remove the listings, despite checking back over the course of 2 months and the item listings still being active... If the items aren't for sale and aren't ever going to be for sale, the listings should have been removed. Customer service is a joke. I recommend buying from literally any other platform.

I wish I would have read the other bad reviews before ordering. Seller never communicated or shipped item. I'm wondering if it was a scam. I had to call paypal to get a refund.

Awful customer service, told everyone to delete the app! My account got suspended for no reason, I want to buy things but I cannot.

- great layout
- great way for people to find your listings
- they take a 10% fee from your total transaction

A buyer clearly scammed me - stated she never received the item. I provided them with all the information, tracking updates, number etc and reached out to them to help me but they excused it. Even simply looking up the tracking number would have shown she collected it and it was delivered. Disgusting company - don't use.

Out of the 9 purchases I've made in the past 6 months, 5 of them have been problematic.
Here are the issues I've had:

-Seller who doesn't ship for over a week with zero communication/ignoring messages
-Taking two weeks to ship with constant excuses
-Photos deliberately taken to hide stains and no mention of them in the description
-Being sold a fake brand name item, being told "tough luck" by the seller, and then being dragged through a PayPal claim just to pay expensive return shipping in the end

4 out of 5 of those purchases were from sellers with amazing reviews. These are issues that I have never run into when buying on other apps such as eBay or Poshmark. I now feel extremely hesitant to buy on Depop, and I removed all of my own listings because I can't imagine the types of problems that arise being a seller on this app.

I only give two stars rather than one because Depop staff did act extremely quickly to remove unfair feedback on my account when a seller retaliated against me for opening and winning a PayPal claim (counterfeit item). Also, when I manage to find a seller who is reliable, I enjoy the items that I can find here. There just needs to be higher standards for sellers.

First of all, I couldn't even create an account because there was some error with the website. Then, when I finally lowered it enough to sell brand new shoes for $25, depop ended taking $10 of that. Then, I was having problems with shipping so I ended up making two different labels because the shipping process was so cauotic. DEPOP CHARGED ME ANOTHER $10 and little do they tell you since paypal collaborates with depop with shipping, paypal ends up taking a $1. I ended up losing money instead of gaining anything! Wish I never spent the hours trying to desperately figure out this website. I came here originally so angry at poshmark for their inability to do things right also, but this was much worse.

Depop owes me a refund on the fee they charge due to me having to refund a buyer. It's all through PayPal and neither platform knows how the other words. (Like why?) You have to issue refund via PayPal and Depop won't refund their fee taken from you back until YOU reach out and request it (Dumb). I have emailed this company MULTIPLE times and they still have yet to remedy the situation and return MY money. I sent all proof needed and I keep getting the run around from incompetent agents who don't even read my emails it seems. This company sucks. I'm a 5 star seller and have sold nearly 100 items and they do this. They've made plenty money off of my sales and can't refund a $12.83?! Oh, and the fees are way to high now. Stay away.

The fees are insanely high that Depop charges. They also have a ridiculous shipping system that will end you with making less than $1 profit (this is if you charge fair prices in your shop)! I see no reason why they have the fees that high when Depop is pretty simple and bare min type of platform service...

This platform manipulates sellers to price items way higher than normal or what is appropriate. Or, the seller ends up eating costs or making VERY little profit despite doing all the work and SELLING an item to someone + mailing it out. I wish this could be remedied, but with the way the 1% runs everything and the less privileged are forced to use crappy unfair platforms like Depop to attempt to keep the lights on.

Also, the site forces you to be 'active' regularly but gives no timeline as to what that equals. Not sure how this is okay? I noticed last week I had been on the app, liked some other sellers items and even replied to a msg- yet the next day Depop took my profile down stating I hadn't used the app recently enough.

The longer I use Depop the more angry and used I feel. :(

Stay away at all costs. They have stolen hundreds from me. They hide behind technicalities and offer no seller protection whatsoever. Additionally, no way to get a hold of a live person to address concerns. Lost a lot of money with these guys. Stick with Ebay

A seller sold me a pair of pants that were heavily edited to appear to be a totally different color than they were in real life. I asked the seller respectfully what resolution we could come to. What did the seller do? She doxxed me on Reddit, then proceeded to call me crazy via DMs, harass me on Facebook and even deployed her friends to harass me. She also left a completely fictitious review on my account.

Depop sided with her, despite all the photos and screenshots I sent in of everything. I am so disgusted that she received absolutely no consequences for her unprofessional and unethical behavior. So it's okay she can endlessly harass and bully me, and I haven't even gotten a refund on the POS item I received which was completely inaccurately advertised, and she doesn't even get a slap on the wrist?

Completely unacceptable. Looking into my legal options against the seller and against Depop. Originally, Depop said the review I left on her account would be allowed, due to the mountains of evidence I sent them. Well suddenly, I get a random email from Depop saying my account has been flagged, and my review has been removed for abusive language. My review only stated the facts. Yes, I mentioned she posted my personal information to Reddit. All buyers should be made aware of this, so the same doesn't happen to them when they get scammed!

SOLD NOTHING IN 2 MONTHS. SALES ARE GEAT ON POSHMARK AND MERCARI. DEPOP WANTS TO BEAT YOU DOWN THE SELL YOUR STUFF ON THEIR SITES.
