I ordered a helmet. It was delivered in perfect condition on the quoted date.
Delivery time should be 1-2 days and told before purchase. If I knew it would be 5 days I wouldn't order.
I was visiting another state and found free time to visit a local Cyclegear to try on helmets. The staff was very helpful and offered to order the helmet I wanted and have it delivered to my home. The helmet arrived exactly as predicted and fit perfectly after the staff helped with sizing.
When I walked in the staff was cheery and inviting, they answered all my questions and even walked me through a couple of demo's with the comm equipment they had to offer. Walked in feeling unsure of which to buy and walked out with all the information I needed to purchase the right product and they even offered to install it for me. The young gentleman, Sean I think was his name, had my phone connected and features tested before I had to figure them out on the fly while riding! Made riding that much more fun!
I researched helmets and decided on what I determined was the best helmet. I went to CycleGear to confirm my choice of head shape and size, and to get other tips and info (I'm new to motorcycling).

I went to the local store, but they didn't have one in stock, so I ordered it online. I needed it for a trip I was taking in a few days, and it arrived on time.
My old Bilt helmet was getting pretty nasty so went looking for another. Bought pretty much the same one, just newer version.
Cycle Gear did a great job. But FedEx skipped a beat and delayed delivery a day. I ended up returning the Sedici boots at a store --- the left boot was too tight. That's a problem I've never had. The return at the store went great and I walked out with a new pair of boots that fit great.
You almost never have my size in stock. Honestly I've spent thousands of dollars at other stores because you don't have what I need in stock. And I'm supposed to have two day shipping but I never get anything in 2 days, this last order took over a week. And it wasn't the size I wanted but it just happened to work out.

The last two items I bought, I actually wanted to keep but discover that they were damaged by someone who owned them and returned them. I don't have a problem buying returns but if they've been ripped or damaged that's different.
Also you guys have a problem with selection, I had a helmet that I've been wanted to buy and it finally went on sale only to go right out of stock. And I know for a fact it's not a very popular helmet.
I'll be honest, I'm trying not to use Amazon any chance I get and you guys are not making that easy, I had to turn around and buy both items from Amazon.
Had a great experience with the Salem, Cycle Gear team. They helped to fit me for my first helmet and were super patient and helpful with the process. They made it very clear that they wanted to sale, but also wanted me to be satisfied with my purchase.
I went to try on low summer boots. They didn't have the ones I wanted in stock but sized me in similar sized boots and then ordered them. They came in faster than expected. No issues, they fit as expected and I love the boots. I finally have boots/shoes that I can wear in the summer heat and not sweat to death.

Was able to get the shoes I wanted shipped directly to my home after trying on similar shoes at the store...
The sales people were very helpful and also very nice in helping us out, and we would recommend them to everyone, it was and excellent experience.

Answer: Your local dealership will almost inevitably be superior to CycleGear, in every respect. The reason for that is your local dealership will cease to exist if they don't offer their customers the service, support, and products that they are looking for. You might not find it on the shelf right then, but every dealership has the ability to order in what you want and they will price it fairly, because they know that you can go elsewhere. These internet retailers need to be put out of business, by us. All we have to do is shop locally.
Answer: There's nothing legit about the website. They have stores in many different cities around the US, but their customer service is almost as bad in-store, as it is from their corporate call center and internet department.
