I do not recommend anyone open a Coinbase account. I wish I had checked the reviews before it did!
I opened an account with Coinbase because I wanted to be able to make purchases with bitcoin. There were specific products that I wanted to purchase that are legal in my state, but not federally legal (marijuana seeds) and although the reputable sites I was trying to purchase the seeds from said they accepted credit cards, the banks that issued the cards declined the transactions and would not change that even after I contacted them in an attempt to authorize the transactions. So I opened a Coinbase account and purchased bitcoin and paid with PayPal. The money was removed from my bank account over a week ago and every day I've tried to send bitcoin to the seed companies, but Coinbase keeps giving me the error message that I can't send any money because the money has not been transferred into my account yet-- even though Pay Pal sent them the money over a week ago.
Also, the value of bitcoin has dropped over 10% in the past week, so not only can I not make the purchases that were the sole purpose of my opening a Coinbase account, the value of the original $200 I had sent Coinbase to fund my account is now less than $180.
I've tried contacting their customer service to see why I can't use my bitcoin yet, but their responses have been useless gibberish that have nothing to do with the question I asked.\
Do not open a Coinbase account. You will be sorry you did!
Something happened with my password. I cannot just reset it. There is NO customer service. No phone works. Their emails don't work. They told me to send pics of licenses and other things- I did that but not to the email they require because the email they provide is undeliverable. Bottom line. I have thousands of dollars of my money that I am locked out of.
First of all, they will not allow me to use my business debit card that is in my name as well as my company name but they will take it by transfer from my business account. They have almost immediate access to my funds but put a 10 day hold on me selling or transferring my coins to another exchange or cold wallet. Which if you are intending to transfer, by time your wait is up you might have 50.00 less because of a coin dropping in value. They allow converting on the platform but when I converted xlm to usdc 7 days from having access to the xlm they added another 10 days and there is no way to navigate their send message system because it is a bot instead of a person. This company may have cost me thousands of dollars because of their inability to communicate with their customer base.
I have had turds who know more than these idiots at Coinbase. I have called 27 times so far and waited over a hour each phone call to talk to someone and every person who answers can not help me because they will tell you that they are not smart enough and been trained to work with Coinbase wallet and they would have to have somebody help me thru email. And every email gave the word answer and I still after months can not get my money from them. Do not do business with these idiots!
They withdrew money for crypto currency's but won't let you withdraw your funds from them. Charged ridiculous fees for every transaction and transfer. Avoid at all cost Coinbase
They place buying limits on my verified account (as in valid account holder). I'm talking single digit dollar amounts. In my opinion, If this is widespread across the organization, this has the chance to influence or manipulate the market. Or maybe they have a bug in their system. Can't say because they refuse to provide a tangible answer when questioned. I'd avoid this exchange until they get their act together. I mean, their rating is 1.5 stars for a reason. SEC needs to look at their practices.
I deposed significant $ into Coinbase.com. Could not get it to work after going through all the steps. Called many times and put on hold for 1.5+ hrs. Each time. Finally reached a person who had no idea what to do and then connected me to another person who did not know how to let me buy my bitcoins even though they said the account showing was good and hung up. The third person said to go to help. Coinbase and it had the same dumb and incomplete message center as coinbase.com site. Why open a site that is so incompetent and not up today with all the technology of today with these kind of services already inplace. I am withdrawing my funds. MY SUGGESTION IS TO FIND A REPUTABLE NEW SOURCE FOR BUYING CRYPTO THAT ARE PROFESSIONAL AND EFFICIENT. AND CARE. Coinbase appears to be a real LOON firm. Absolutely no-one to personally help you that knows what to do to answer your inquires.
Believe me you will be scammed out of all your money by Coinbase itself. I truly believe Coinbase is doing the scamming. I had coinbase go into my account and tried to withdraw $35,000 and put it in my account. I was lucky I didn't have $35,000 to withdraw or I would have been scammed out of that as well. These people went in and took my bitcoin and Ethereum and switch into 2 other coins and then started purchasing $200.00 each transaction I ended up paying $4000 in fees and they won't cover it. They told me it's up to me to protect my account. They don't even have a trigger if your on the site for more then any amount of time it won't log you out I didn't make these transactions and my account has been locked for 3 weeks now and I've done everything to get the balance of my $10,000 back which at this point $1657. 00. Please don't make the mistake I made If you don't believe me try and take out some of your funds and you will be on hold for 2 hour and then you can talk to someone that won't ever help you they will escalate the call and you will keep getting emails that say the same thing. Look at how many have been scammed by this company 6,000 that was as of May 2021 this year. And the rep told me to get my money out of their so that's what I was trying to do. I don't think I've ever seen a 1.5 star rating and the only reason for that big of a rating is because they don't have 0 rating only 1 that's how they even got that crappy rating. All I can say is if you don't believe me you've been warn. This is my first review I've ever done so you know I mean business. I also called all my fiends to get their money out and spread the word. Stay away from this company. Good luck with dealing with this company. They never get back to you and I opened an account with them and now they no longer support my business card. They're now telling me they're going to take from my other accounts to settle my purchase.
I sent a payment of $375 in BTC and it showed an error. So I sent another payment of $375 thinking that, worst case scenario, I would have a double order from the recipient if the first one was not cancelled. But instead, both of these payments were shown as sent, but with no attached confirmation, meaning that the recipients could not verify that I sent the payments and that they were completed. I had previously sent a payment to this same recipient with Coinbase, in the exact same way with BTC and it showed all information just fine. In this case, with $750 sent without Coinbase showing me a receipt, I have lost that money. I emailed back and forth with their customer support for two weeks. They assured me over and over they were working on the situation. All that had to happen was for the sent money to show receipt information. Well it's been 6 weeks now and it's not fixed. They won't fix it, they just keep telling me they are sorry and working on it. I've lost $750 and I will never use Coinbase again. Beware.
Coinbase sent a mail on 25 August informing me that they were performing account reviews and that the process could take 1-3 months. They locked trading and fiat withdrawals for my account on the same day. Since that day I have heard absolutely NOTHING. I have tried to contact CB customer service, but direct contact is not possible. When raising a query through their standardized support system - which done three times - there is no response to the issue at hand, but after a few days a mail with the message "we have now closed the case # XXX and hope you were satisfied". I strongly encourage people to contact [coinreclaims com] to resolve their cases like I did. It's unacceptable to block a customers account permanently who had money in wallet! Ended up having to recover externally. Now I'm on a hunt to expose COINBASE. I'm willing to help if needed Check out (coinreclaims com) for help.

They don't acknolwedge anything other than some reference number and then nothing comes of it and they close the case. Beware! Don't EFT funds to that Coinbase account on their website. They can't find $#*!. Regards Patrice
I have to admit that I was skeptical that I would ever see any of the money I lost in a very sophisticated scam. I put money into Coinbase to build so I can send it to my investment account. Coinbase said they sent it. That was a lie. I've called twice. The one person said the money is still in Coinbase he sees it right there. Coinbase is trying to say this investment company is scamming people. When Coinbase tried to take out if my bank account over $42,000 when I don't have that money in my account. I found out through friends that it's Coinbase nobody hacked into my account. They are working through the problem. I called again and the girl who answered the phone was Caitlyn. She laughed at everything I said. How rude and disrespectful. What customer service person does that? I mean really. I hope people start filing a lawsuit on coinbase if it can be done. Coinbase needs to give everyone back their money and compensate for all the stress and aggravation.
My entire experience with Coinbase has been very frustrating. You are asked to move your crypto to a Wallet for it to be secure (hit with a fee). Then you convert that crypto to USD (hit with a fee). Then you move that USD from your wallet to Coinbase (hit with a fee). Then you need to move that money to your bank account (hit with a fee).
Not only is this company taking advantage of consumers with all their fees, but all the customer service agents I spoke to (5 separate calls), had little to no knowledge on the process of moving monies back to your checking account.
I just want to be able to update my phone number, send an email to support, or God forbid file a complaint. I just want to successfully be able to accomplish this, but feel that this site is purposely set up to send you to the looney bin. You cannot make it through a page. If you have to click,, or snap a pic, or upload anything, it drops you back at the beginning. It is impossible to successfully navigate this website if you are trouble shooting any sort of issue. At least for me. And I am not stupid. And I am never going to use a brokerage account again that has zero customer service. So awful. Cant wait til they release my staked money in Ethereum 2, so that I can close my account, and have my mind wiped clean of this terrible debacle... my time and monies deserve better.

Coinbase has literally sabotaged a number of my trades by the constant failure of their ridiculous app. The only thing about their app that works 100% of the time is their fees and taking money from deposits. I absolutely hate that I signed up for Coinbase and invited other investors join.

In follow-up on my previous review. Coinbase does have a live person customer support for locked accounts only. My account was hacked and fortunately for me the account was restricted due to have purchased the coin from, GYEN. After 9 days if agony, frustration, and information, I'm back on my account. It takes a long wait when you call the first time, but eventually you'll get a person on the call. This is only for locked accounts. If your account isn't already locked it will automatically be locked when you give the rep your email address. After speaking with a person, you'll be given a case number. When you call back after that, there's little to no wait time to speak with a person.

Answer: The thing is people generally only write a review if they got cheated. And thus from all the reviews (not just this site) you can tell that they screwed over a lot of people (including me). Let's say that 95% of people have a good experience with the site, what about the remaining 5%. If a company is not loyal to all its customers then that company should not exist, especially a company dealing with money. My advice is, stay away from them. Use localbitcoins to trade and bitgo to store, way better and more secure.
