Had them for 2 years and never filed a claim until last month for my 10 year old refrigerator. They denied the claim stating it was under manufactures warranty which is was not due to age and I am second owner. Service tech said he sees CHW deny claims 99% of the time. Do yourself a favor and do not use CHW.
Choice Home warranty sent Sears repair service to fix my refrigerator about 10 weeks ago. Sears was supposed to order a door for my refrigerator but it never came. I've been calling Choice Home but each time they said they would find out what's going on and call back within 48 hours, but this has not happened. My food had spoiled especially milk, juice and fruits. I am a 74 years old and this is the kind of service I'm getting. Right now I have nothing good to say about Choice Home Warranty!
Do not use Choice Home Warranty. I needed my kitchen and bathroom faucets fix due to leaking. They approved the bathroom, but not the kitchen, Said it was due to a previous installation damage. I've been in the house 17 year and never had the faucet repaired. I had to pay the tech $85 to replace a washer. I can't use the cold water because they won't pay. Now I have to miss work again just in case they decide to cover it after an appeal specialist has been assigned via email. Then I will have to call the specialist to discuss them fixing it. This is the first time I've used them, but it will be the last.
I had a top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher that I purchased 12 years ago for $600. The service man that came said it was on repairable and needed to be replaced. The only offer I got was $246. In today's world, you can't even buy the cheapest dishwasher for that kind of money. They didn't seem to care. They said that model had certain things, and was not entitled to a top-of-the-line replacement. I explain to them at 12 years ago that was top-of-the-line and the new machines today that a top-of-the-line are $800 plus. I was not asking for $800. I was just asking for a reasonable amount of money so I could replace it. They said because of the age, etc. but that's all they could do.
That is the second incident that I got screwed from them. I had a heating system that field in the middle of winter during the pandemic, and they could not send someone over to look at it. He told me if I could find someone to go there to have them notify them what it needed. I did find a plumber and he came and said the system is failed. He could replace a couple of little things to at least get it working so we could have heat since it was 10° out. I paid for that repair out of my pocket. I called him and told him what happened and was honest about it and they told me because I had someone else working on it that they would not give me a dime. My Warrenty should've given me the maximum of $3000 I got zero and it cost me about $6000 to replace it. So the past five years I have this warranty company I've gotten nothing from them. Their policies are really ridiculous and insulting to the people who have bought that insurance. This contract will be over in less than a year and I am going to American Warrenty. I had them before I got Choice Warrenty and the one item that needed replacing, American home warranty replaced it. No questions asked!
I advise everyone and anyone to stay away from Choice Warrenty. They take your money and run and do not replace anything with new!

I will be canceling this when my contract is up had a refrigerator go out guy came to look at it was the compresser so it was gonna cost 862 dollars they only would pay 248 bucks they make it sound like they cover everything lies don't buy this crap.
Please be aware, this company is truely a scam company. Recently, I make a claim about there is a leak problem under my toilet seat. The plumber came out to inspect the problem and charge me a service fee of $85.
PLEASE BE AWARE when you file a claim. You have to be very specific. Under this problem, it is call Plumbing Stoppage, I did it under Plumbing System. As a regular person, plumbing is plumbing.
The plumber file a claim with Home Choice Warranty to get approval for repair but it got deny because I filed it under the wrong name. So I spend more time and call Home Choice Warranty again.
They started a second claim under Plumber Stoppage and now it is the right job description where
The plumber will remove my toilet and get access to the pike and snake it and clear the blockage.
Here is the kickers:
1. I will have to pay another $85 for a second claim
2. During the plumber inspection -Removing the toilet seat is NOT COVER under the warranty I will have to pay $130 for the plumber to remove it. This is because my house is over 30 years old don't have an access pike like the new homes.
3. When the plumber reported back to Home Choice Warranty, after they know my house don't have the direct access to the main pike, they reject my claim
So now, I ended up have to pay for it. After 3 years and invest $1500 in it, I think this company is just a scam.
Don't fall for it, they will find ways to deny your claim.
By the way, I had talked to 5 people and spend over 4 hours on the phone but no luck.
-Also, Cancellation is very Difficult, the so Call Resolution Manager will butter you up and said they will fix the problem but they don't have the power to waive the service fee of $85.
-You will be better off just look on Yelp and look for a reliable plumbing company instead of buying Home Warranty not knowing when you will use it and get deny on your claim.
It is just waste of money...
They lied over the phone about 24/7 service. I have two kids, one of which is special needs, and there was NO empathy or even attempt to get someone out to fix a plumbing issue when there were no working toilets in the house.
When I was looking for quotes, they were not who I was initially going to go with. When I say I would get 15-20 calls A DAY to sell me service, I mean it. I told them a million times to take me off their call list because i didn't want to use them. The calls continued for months after- even after I regretfully gave in and signed up for service.
Well I've called them myself about 10 times and FINALLY got a hold of someone because the claim I filed, he sounded like a robot repeating the same thing about "we're sorry your going through this but we don't cover emergency services." Then they refused to get me to a supervisor.
I called Choice Home warranty on Friday. They made a claim number for me at 11 o'clock Friday night. They texted me that they could not find anybody to take my call. I asked if I wanted to find my own repair man it was 10°. My house was rapidly going down in temperature, I found someone to come to the house. They arrived here on Saturday at 5 o'clock by the time they were finished with the analysis it was 5:45 and Choice Home warranty's claim service on Saturday is only open till 530 so I could not get them to approve this. In the meantime my temperature in my house was at 55°, so instead of waiting till the next morning because the technician had to go he couldn't wait for Choice Home warranty to approve it. I approved it took the pictures. Got the invoice and had everything and Choice Home warranty said they could not pay for this because they needed to talk to the technician well the technician wasn't going to talk to anybody he works for a company and he says he's not even sure what the liability is, so I called Home warranty 3×3 times they turned me down. I got a manager who was just so unsympathetic with my situation. I am 80 years old and we were in this house freezing and Home warranty didn't care. It cost me almost $800 to get my furnace repaired and Choice Home warranty did not care. The only reason I took this warranty and I had it for two years and I had another incident with them over my hot water heater which they charge me 400 and something dollars to put valves in this company advertises that they are just there for your needs open 24 hours a day taking your thing this is not true. Beware of this company.
I had issue with my AC. Furnace, they sent a technician to fix it, the technician missed diagnose the repair and said unit had water damage, the Home Choice Warrenty immediately terminated the repair, he changed me $400 but did not fix the problem, I made another claim, new technician said there is no avoidances of water damaged, the technician spend more then 3 hours and changed the thermostat, and changed $65 but was not able to fix the problem, now we are more than 5 days without heat, I had to call someone out of the their network, to fixed the issue, but Home Choice Warrenty don't want to cover those expenses, for that reason I won't recommend this company.
After seeing these reviews its easy to see this company is a 100% scam. They keep giving me lip service claiming their trying to find a tech after I made a service call for my furnace nearly a week ago. I don't believe they even have local tech's. Now their trying to con me on an out of network service rep they claim I'll be reimbursed on. I don't trust them. There is truly a special place in Hell waiting for Choice Warranty and the people who work for them.
After two claims a washer and hot water heater, neither one has been repaired or replaced. I have called at least ten times. They are pleasant but always say three more days for service which never comes. Genius scam. Can anyone stop this company?
Choice Home Warranty is a scam company excuses are all they provide. After a month of no show service technicians, daily calls to there customer service, no hot water we canceled our contract. Choice Home Warranty has a BBB rating of D- Horrible reviews. I purchased the warranty without doing the research. Had the warranty for a whole three months costing me 75% of premium for three months of coverage?….
They do not provide replacement of your warranted home appliances. My washer machine needed replaced. They gave me a credit to Lowes for $343. The cheapest machine at Lowes was $545. I had to wait 30days for the credit and if I cancelled my policy before the credit was available I risked losing the $343. So, really I am getting $283.00. I won't hold my breath for the credit either because it has been more than a month that I have been arguing with them to get to this point. I had to file a Better Business Bureu complaint just to get this far with a credit to Lowes. I am now asking for cash do I can get a refurbished washer that I can affford with the measles amount they are giving me. Rip Off!
One of the worst experience with customer care and lot of miscommunication. They are taking a lot time to assign a technician and they wont approve the technician we go for. As long as we dont have any cliams they are good. Once you submit a claim they wont respond properly. It goes to customer care in some country were they dont understand how thing operate here in US. I would say they are just another cheating company. My water heater was 21 years old and it is keep leaking, checked with couple of technicians both of them recommended to replace it. But these guys wont approve the claims as it is not enough information to approve the claim.
BBB has a red alert on this company. There is no phone number or email to cancel a policy despite their promise that you can cancel a policy anytime. In short, they illegally charge credit cards to auto renew and refuse to cancel policies and refund. When I discovered the illegal charges, I called the "resolution" department. All the people there are sales people. They have no intention to resolve anything or to cancel your policies and give you refunds. They just tried to wear you down.
Below is my experience which I filed with BBB.
The company illegally charged my credit cards for auto-renewal after my policy expired in November after I refused to renew my policy despite hundreds of emails and phone calls from the company telling me that if I don't renew, I'll lose my protection. I talked to the resolution department (normally after 5 min wait) and explained to the Stephanie (who claims she's a manger) about the unauthorized charges and asked for refunds. She asked me why I cancelled. I explained to her the incompetencies of their vendors and their tendency not to follow up after I paid the initial fees. She told me she will personally take my complaints from then on and asked me to look at the new policy before cancelling. Instead she sent me an email offering me two months of free coverage. I called back and now I talked to another person who just refused to cancel my policies and offered the refunds. When I insisted I don't want to repeat the reasons I am canceling my policies and that I just want to get my refunds for unauthorized charges. She hung up on me. All their employees are sales people who only want to sell the policies
I've been with Choice Warranty for a year. My contract ends in February. I had several issues with my stove. After the first two calls ($65 each), Choice sent an email offering $300 which I would have gladly accepted if I had seen the email. When I called the agent, he said it was a "limited time offer" and the offer had expired. My oven soon went out and I called Choice again. That was in October 2022. They dispatched a Sears service tech who said it was a motherboard issue. Of course, another $65 charge. He ordered parts (3), one of which has never been received. That was 3 months ago. I went through the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with no oven and totally frustrated. During this period, I called Choice so many times because I had holiday plans. They switched me from one agent to another, one department to another, always promising to follow-up with Sears in 24-48 hours and get back to me. Here it is January 2023. My oven has never been fixed... agents always apologetic but just giving me the run around. It took me some time to realize that this company had no intention of fulfilling their warranty or offering me compensation for their lack of performance. I am complaining to the Georgia State Dept. of Law's Consumer Protection Division and the Better Business Bureau. No consumer should be treated this way.
In Oct. My heating system was not working correctly. They sent a technician that broke the system not once but twice. After 2 mths I got a co that came in to fix it correctly. Choice Warranty stated they would reimburse me especially after the company replaced the part with the WRONG part and caused other components to break. After I submitted the invoice 3x/s they said they would only pay for one part. I am out $1200. Choice Warranty is fully responsible because they sent this guy to keep coming back to fix it and I begged for a new company since this company had no idea what he was doing. I have e-mailed corporate a dozen times and they don't respond. Case Mgrs dont care at all and their customer service is very poor. It is a horible company that should be shut down for taking ppls money and sending garbage companies like JMV Heating to ppls homes. Please go elsewhere.
I wish everyone would read their contracts before peeing and moaning.
While CWH is problematic, many persons
I wish I could give negative stars and take down the "5 star customer reviews" that they post on their site are bogus and they do not let you leave an honest review. Do not waste your time and money. They will continue to do everything in their power to have you get multiple services calls that cost a deductible per visit, and almost steer you in the wrong direction while you continue to pay them. We have in writing that "dishwasher is leaking on the bottom and will need replaced," yet they refuse to do so. We have to open a new claim for this. I have free legal services due to my profession and I will be consulting with them to take action. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.
A component on our removable ice bucket broke off. It's something that you take out and put back in and over time, things break as a result of repeated use. This is the very definition of normal wear and tear. Choice denied the claim to replace this $50 part because it was "missing" and therefore not covered. I asked if we had kept the broken piece would it have been covered. The answer was "no" because it would still be considered "missing". I asked if a portion of it was still attached but a portion was broken off, would that be covered. The answer was "if 50% of the component was still attached, we would still consider that to be missing". I asked if a piece chipped off, would that be considered missing. They said no, if it's a small chip then that would be different. I asked where in the contract it specified the percentage the worn item has to be attached for it to not be considered missing. I was told it's not, but that's the company position. Completely fraudulent in the way they interpret their contract to not pay for what the customer purchased.
Answer: 2-10 is more expensive but of very good value. Good people. Our plumber has recommended Old Republic. I do not know anything about them though.
Answer: A definite scam. Will not pay, use any excuse to not pay. Takes days to acknowledge a service company is being assigned. Service personnel will not work for them as they do not get paid.
Answer: PRICE AND THE GOOD REPUTATION OF GEORGR FOREMEN… Pls don't blame him. He couldn't know they were crooked when he signed up!
