JUST CHECK BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! Don't waste your time! I signed up for choice home warranty over a year ago and everything was great in the beginning. I signed up for the 5 year plan and all was well. The first year they were on point, always getting back to me and getting the job done. Now I don't know what is going on there. My shower faucet needed to be changed and I called choice, they sent someone who took my set fee of $65 and said home warranty won't cover it. I figured it was my first problem with the company so I let it go. Then my water heater started leaking, I called choice home warranty and they sent someone out. I paid the $65 just to be told they don't have the part needed to fix my water heater and there would be a delay in getting it. I spoke with choice and they told me to get a plumber on my own and they'd reimburse me. The total was $350. This was almost 8 months ago and they still haven't paid me back. Everytime I call I am sent from person to person. I have been told a bunch of times that they sent the check out but it's been returned. Now I don't know much about USPS but come on! 2 times I have verified my address with them. Numerous times they have told me" we sent your check out, it should be there in 2-4 weeks." I have been treated like crap from their "manager." Nothing but the run around from these people. Don't waste your time with these thieves!
CHW sent incompetent HVAC contractor who made a false diagnosis of my HVAC system automatically voiding my warranty. After appealing the denial of my claim with documented diagnosis from two top rated contractors that the said diagnosis was false. CHW again denied my claim. I was forced to replace my air handler $5,000 out of pocket which should have been covered by warranty. I had to open a claim with attorney general hopefully I will win my appeal and be refunded for the rightful funds from this warranty fraud.
I have had a Choice warranty for several months and last week I called for service. My appointments have been cancelled without notice 3 times now. I called last week and asked to speak to a manager - I was told I can't speak to one but they will 'email' a manager and they will call in 24 hours - no one ever called. Service is abysmal. They work hard to sell you a policy but never deliver. I am in Colorado. They provide a telephone # for the tech who is scheduled but the phone is never answered and messages are never returned. Stay away from this company!
If I could give a negative amount of stars, I would. I have been with CHW for a few years and when I put in a claim, pay my co-pay, the technician told me what ever was wrong wasn't covered. I have an old dryer that I have called about once every month and few days (just long enough for their last "fix" to not be covered by their 30 day guarantee and I need to pay another co-pay). Paid enough co-pays to buy a new dryer. Last month, my a/c went out and after waiting two weeks (in Phoenix in the summer) for the technician to come, he told me it needed a new unit and CHW probably wouldn't approve that. Well they said they would pay $3000 and I would need to pay the rest (in the range of $7000). My policy is about to expire and I have been getting at least 20 phone calls a day "reminding me to renew" - I have answered a few of these and told them I was not renewing and to take me off the call list. They didn't and today I got an email saying since I "forgot" to renew, they were putting me on auto renewal using the credit card they had on file. I looked at my profile and saw no credit card that I could take off but I know they have a credit card number. I have called them several times to tell them to cancel and each time, I have been told no it isn't cancelled but they would do it. DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THEY TELL YOU!

Never Never used this company
Filed 3 claims of which they could not get me a tech, because no companies will work with them! Was advised to get my own tech and they would reimburse me for my claim, never happened. Had an AC issue and they sent me a handyman who I thought was going to rob my house. Then I get the pleasure of a electrician showing up, who clearly couldn't fix my AC unit. Called back again and get put on with Advance Resolution specialist. They say they are going to get me a tech, only to get an email saying it was the first handyman who came to my house already and basically asked me what was wrong with it and proceeds to tell me it needs to be repaired. I called and let them know not to send the tech at all and cancel the policy, the guy says your refund will be very small because of all the cancellation fees. I advise you talk to you Home Owners Insurance, they now offer home warranty service. This company is a complete joke and scam and I can't wait to get on the inevitable class action lawsuit that I am sure will be filed.
Technician was scheduled to be here Monday from 3-8pm... Didn't show up. Contacted him and scheduled a Wednesday appt after 5pm... Still didn't show. Do not use Choice Home Warranty!

BUYER BEWARE... they will not pay you the full invoice even if they give you permission to use your own contractor, they sent out AC Companies to my home that didn't even have a license to work, sketchy companies with no reviews as they will only pay them a $45.00 call out fee, so I asked them to use my AC company, they agreed but now they won't the full amount... the good companies wont pick up their work as they never pay them either, they have a terrible name
I needed a new Motherboard which is so expensive and a new thermostat, total bill $1,800 they will only give me $456! As they say that is the price they have in their system. That system that they are working from must be 10 years old
I would like to meet an AC GUY THAT WOULD DO THAT WORK FOR THE AMOUNT THEY ARE GOING TO PAY ME BACK?!
They don't honour the technician's assessment.
They don't have professionals to review the claim
They refer back to the person who denied the claim and ask for a second opinion, hence uphold their denial.
They are slowwwwww in returning calls or fulfilling the 48 hour call back option.
They don't reply to messages.
My AC had a high noise and wasn't cooling. I called Choice Home warranty as my home warranty provider. We had a technician come to the house and diagnosed the issue as the blower motor bracket was broken (one of 3 sides), the motor shaft and wheel were worn out. He deem it as normal wear and tear ( they are 25 years old!).
Choice home warranty, on there own (despite the technician's opinion) decided do deny the claim that this not due to wear and tear and said it is not normal for that to happen (even after 25 years of a working AC!)).
I spoiled the decision, and they didn't reply to me or give me a call back except after 5 days despite calling them several times clearly communicating that I have little children in the house and this is urgent.
The case manager was on the phone and I explained to him that it is illogical and against engineering basics to deny a wear and tear of a 25 year old continuous running equipment!
So all she did was call the same people who denied the claim and asked (instead of getting to an independent entity) then and they said we uphold our decision!
Clearly just not wanting to pay the technician and the parts. And against their advertised we will either fix or change out the failed equipment.
Obviously I couldn't wait longer and had to fix and pay 500$ to fix it, which is a full year of their price for warranty!
Avoid this company at all costs. They will deny every legitimate, covered claim. Then they will call you multiple times per week for months trying to get you to renew your policy.
I aske them a dozen times to stop calling and put me on their do not call list yet the calls kept coming for months. Clearly violating TCPA laws.
This company is also under investigation by a state Attorney General for consumer fraud.
Don't waste your money on this scam company. They will most likely fix your faucet for $85 service call fee which you could pay directly to some handyman and get the same fix, but if some major stuff blows out forget about it.
Water collection pan in my AC air handler rusted and leaking water which eventually shuts down the unit. Tech who came didn't bother to check the pan material even though I insisted and put his notes that it "cracked" assuming it was plastic.
CHW was happy to reject my case due to "damage or misuse/abuse" stating if plastic cracked it was due to some damage. No matter how I tried to convince them it was a steel one indeed, nobody cared - they had a formal reason to decline coverage. I heard many baseless statements from their service managers about "non-moving parts not covered", "that part not covered" etc which was lies since their agreement boldly states "all AC parts are covered if failure occurred due to normal wear and tear". What is rusting if not wear and tear? How can you prevent a metal piece exposed to water 24x7 by design from rusting? What kind of maintenance would have prevented this?
Nobody cared to pick up a phone and actually call that tech who put initial notes in. Assigned case managers were helpless and miserable, not sure what their function is if they have neither interest nor power in the claim process.
To wrap it up, they will make up any stupid excuse you can or can't imagine to deny your claim if it's significant.
These people are notorious at selling their top priced products and then renegating on the promises by showing you fine print exclusions in there multipage contract which contradicts with the main content. Very unprofessional repairmen.
My Air Conditioning broke down on May 13th, 2022. Since then, I have followed up 100+ times, and still, they cannot resolve my issue.
They have assigned multiple technicians, but no one shows up. I'm without AC the entire summer, and when I call customer service, I get the same scripted answers.
When I checked with local technicians/companies no one wants to deal with CHOICE.
This is twice already they send someone out who doesn't know what they are doing. My dryer isn't working instead of just writing proposal for why it's not working the tech takes the dryer apart and leaves. Never to be heard from again. Choice refused to pay for it to be repaired and didn't inform me in a timely matter. No phone call. I had to go online to look up claim. So the dryer is in pieces the tech didn't even have the decency to put the drum back in dryer. This company is awful. You pay all year long and when you finally have a claim they won't take care of you. Stay clear of them. Unsatisfied customer
As my warranty with choice home warranty was coming up to the renewal time they began calling and emailing trying to get me to purchase another year warranty. I advised them that I had sold the house and yet they continued to call and email. There were daily calls even after I requested that they stopped contacting me.
If anyone is considering purchasing any type of warranty from Choice Home Warranties don't do it. The customer service is horrible, they also send unprofessional and unskilled workers to your home to complete work. The technician did not hook the flute to the furnace emitting carbon monoxide all throughout the property, he uninstalled the water tank and left it full in the living room and told my tenant to keep emptying the buckets. A request was placed for a new hot water tank and the one that was brought to my house was from 2017. I have made several attempts to reach out to Choice for answers and to date no one has responded to any of my messages. Run from this company save yourself the time, frustration and money.
Do NOT buy a home warranty plan from CHW!
Claims I have filed:
HVAC claim: DENIED! They said my cracked heat exchanger on my 19 year old furnace was a pre-existing condition. Plus per their contact would only pay out FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS MAX!
PLUMBING Claim: DENIED! Filed a claim online ( happened on a Saturday, they only work M-F normal business hours) well I had raw sewage backed up into a bathroom ( tub, sink and toilet). Well that could NOT wait until Monday or later to get addressed. I hired a plumber & submitted the bill.
Front load washer claim: they approved but it took over 6 weeks to get repaired.
Gas Range claim: they denied the repairs and opted for replacement. They only offer funds for replacement! Their offer was FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS! Which is only 1/4 the cost to replace my unit. My range is a 5 burner, convection oven probe cooking self cleaning and a whole lot more.
So please don't fall victim to this company!
Do your research! CHW currently has over 10,000 complaints filed against them within the last 90 DAYS! There is also a class action lawsuits..
After days on end, no tech ever gets assigned to a claim... reason, no tech company wants to work with them... period. CHW then pushes you to their "claim reimbursement" option... by then you are in dire need of the appliance so you agree only to find out no tech is willing to work with them on the quote... and if they do, CHW states you've missed a step and deny's your claim... now you are stuck with the bill. What a total mistake signing on for this warranty program. I should have listened to my brother and went with www.2-10.com He has a tech at his place within hours of his call and is 100% satisfied
Called and reported a claim that my HVAC was not working. They sent a contractor that said it was due to normal wear and tear and I have that in writing. Next day get an email from Choice stating it was not normal wear and tear and they would not be covering claim. The contractor said this was normal for the company. I have had the home warranty with them for 3 years and have never used it. This company is a joke and a rip off!. BEWARE this company is the worst! These folks are CROOKS and SCAMMERS. I have tried disputing for weeks to deaf ears...
I went on their website to try to rate them and you can't! They are using fictitious customers to have high ratings. They are also ensuring "buying other companies that rate them" to keep their ratings high. Please don't fall for it, the truth is that they are scammers and the only way to warn others is to find websites that allow you to speak your own experience with unscrupulous companies like CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.
This is my story with them:
I purchased 3 warranties for my rentals and primary home in 2019 paying a total of $3800 for 4 years. We did one claim on one of the houses for a water heater in 2020, and they agreed to cover it. On the second home, we did a claim for a roof leak in 2022, since supposedly we had this coverage on our warranty, the 3rd party contractor came and stated that Choice did not want to pay for it and this leak was not included. ( I asked myself, a leak is a leak what is the difference and there were no stipulations/restrictions on what type of leak would be covered. Long story short, they refused to pay for it so we paid almost $1500 on our own. Our last claim was for a toilet leak, Choice sent an incompetent contractor who took a look at the toilet and said no need to change anything, I will put putty on the hole and that should solve the issue. I told him that I needed a permanent solution not temporary one. 35 days went by and my bathroom flooded. I immediately called Choice Warranty and they stated that it was not their responsibility and if I wanted to have another contractor go, I would have to pay the service fee again.
I took immediate action and advised them to cancel my policies and provide me with a refund. After waiting on hold for an hour and speaking to a resolution manager. She advised me that I would only get a refund of $400 in one of the properties, $150 on another and $0 on the one that I did the claim for the water heater. It has been over 60 days and I still have not received my refund! I have called 6 times and their excuse is that it takes 30 days from the day that the refund was approved. LIARS!
This is a warning to all consumers! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! CHOICE WARRANTY IS THE WORST COMPANY.
Answer: 2-10 is more expensive but of very good value. Good people. Our plumber has recommended Old Republic. I do not know anything about them though.
Answer: A definite scam. Will not pay, use any excuse to not pay. Takes days to acknowledge a service company is being assigned. Service personnel will not work for them as they do not get paid.
