If the person you refer is paid monthly it is very difficult to meet the arbitrary 45 day deadline for the 1st direct deposit. If the referral isn't able to meet the 45 day arbitrary deadline. Social Security, Most retirement systems pay monthly & a direct deposit change takes 30 days or longer. Chime knows this, so that's why they chose 45 days. Very Scammy! A lot of people are on fixed incomes & are really counting on the referral bonus.
What is the point in having a customer service phone line when they do nothing to actually help the customer in situations that are not always black and white. I wish I had chosen a bank with real people instead of reaching a call center, who basically reads from a script, when I need assistance. Now I am stuck in another country with my money in a bank account that I can't access.
I've been a loyal Chime customer for years with the same direct deposit, never had major issues—until now. This week, I woke up to find my Chime account closed without any warning or notice. I've spent days calling, emailing, and even posting on social media, and the only explanation I've gotten was that my deposits "didn't align with the account agreement." When I asked for clarification—which deposit? What was the problem?—I was told they couldn't give me any more information. I use Chime for everything. My paycheck hit earlier this week and I used most of it to catch up on my car loan. The rest is now locked in the closed account, including funds from SpotMe and early pay. I now have zero dollars for food, gas, or bills—not even enough to get through the week. I've filed complaints with the CFPB, the BBB, and my state Attorney General, and I'm still being ignored. I asked Chime to escalate my case to Risk Review or a supervisor—they hung up on me. Twice. If this has happened to you, please speak up. These aren't just system glitches—this is harming real people, and Chime needs to be held accountable. I'm now opening a new bank account elsewhere, but I want to warn others: don't put all your money in one place, and don't assume you'll get a fair chance to explain anything if Chime flags your account.
My mypay balance was lowered in the middle of a pay period. I pay my balance back in full every pay period and after taking my entire check, chime decided to lower my mypay balance to $300 leaving me without funds for a week. After complaining about it, I'm currently waiting on my direct deposit that has been delayed probably because of the amount of times I complained about my Mypay. I am still currently without fund. I haven't received my paycheck that should've been here today. My paycheck gets delayed 2 days at least once a month

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! EVERY TIME I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE I'M ALWAYS ON HOLD TALKING TO SIX DIFFERENT PEOPLE EVEN SUPERVISORS THAT HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF NOTHING THAT WILL ALWAYS GIVE YOU THE RUNAROUND AND TELL YOU A WHOLE BUNCH OF LIES AND IT TAKES ME 3 HOURS OR MORE ON THE PHONE WITH THE CHIME BANK EMPLOYEES THAT ARE VERY RUDE THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF NOTHING! THE ONLY REASON WHY I EVER USE THAT BANK WHICH IS ANOTHER FALSE ADVERTISEMENT SAYING THEY HAVE A CREDIT BUILDER AND THAT IS NOT TRUE! I RECOMMEND FOR NO ONE TO USE THIS BANK THIS IS THE MOST HORRIFIC DISGUSTING SORRY HORRIBLE BANK! DO NOT USE CHIME BANK!
They took money after Groupon said they refunded my money back to my account I filed a dispute however they keep denying the claim so they can keep the money do not trust them wee need to start a petition to shut them down
After 8 months of direct deposits with chime I'm still at $20 on the spot me... customer service lies...they reboot your spot me.last month they did and I was boosted 4 times giving me $20. Today,same thing but I received 4 boost and nothing hit...how can you be in the negative with spot me? It's bs... that's what I was told.I had to use my pay and it went to spot me...they bs you thinking you don't know anything... It's better offers out there than this...on my pay,it's just a line of credit and they've always gotten it...they don't give it to you all at once like others...they only dispense out $20 a day...no wonder they were sued...oh, they retaliate too...but 2 can play that.theg think we are just poor ppl that need them... I've already got the top the top investor in the country looking through their practices...oh and they want you to tip but tell u it doesn't affect your spot me as far as increasing it...I tipped twice...oh, and after 8 months still no increase.but they act like they are doing you a favor... I'm paying for it not them...they forgot others are competing and offer much better
Chime is deceitful and the agents are liars. I receive ssi benefits. I used to have Walmart money card. I truly regret leaving Walmart money card for chime. When I was with Walmart money card I received my ssi 5 days early EVERY month on time. Chime claims to do the same thing, but since I have been with Chime. I get it at various times up to 5 days early, however I rarely get it 5 days early. When I contact the Chime agents about this issue. I get a different answer every month. An agent told me last month that I usually receive it around the 24th or 25th. This month an agent told me that I usually receive it around the 27th. I guess that Chime thinks that I can't count to 5 and that I don't know what day I'm supposed to receive the direct deposit. Even the Chime ads are deceitful. For example. Join chime and we will spot you up to $200 before payday. Well what they don't tell you is that they will only spot you $20 and to get that spot me to go up you have to send your friends money. That is stupid. If someone needs to be loaned $200 before payday. What sense does it make to give out the money you have to your friends just to get a loan from chime? What person on a fixed-income has money to give out to their friends? So whatever fool came up with that idea obviously has no clue on how people on fixed-incomes have to live. We barely make it from month to month on what little money we receive. We don't have money to give out to our friends just to get a loan from chime that we have to give back when chime gets around to sending us our direct deposit. Walmart money card is way better. I was able to barrow up to $200 and didn't have to give away what little I already have to my friends to do it. I will be going back to Walmart money card next month. I've had it with the lies and bs I get from chime and their agents. I do not recommend chime. If you are on a fixed-income Walmart money card is the way to go. I highly recommend them.
I strongly caution against engaging with Chime, as my experience suggests they operate as a scam company. Be wary of any involvement, as it may result in financial loss and unfavorable outcomes.
I've gotten my money back and that was only way I could go about it. I got help from. (I USED THEIR WEBSITE URL AS MY DISPLAY NAME AND PROFILE PICTURE ON THIS REVIEW INCASE YOU NEED HELP AND WANT TO REACH OUT TO THEM).
Note: I did this because of the strict policy over here and honestly i just want to help as many people as possible to get their money back.
I was with chime it's not a bank I lost my card and I called chime and thay me out of my account and would not let me in my account I had to send them my birth certificate I had to get a new driver license send that to them and everything goes in the meantime I couldn't get into my account someone went online transferred over $1,000 out of my account and time would not give me my money back so if I was anyone out there I will go to a bank that I can go into and not some online bank
I'm not impressed with Chime. In fact, I regret setting up my direct deposit with them. Transferring money isn't hard. In fact it's fairly easy. As long as the individual on the receiving end accepts the transfer. I was informed that my direct deposits would arrive a little bit early. That's questionable.
Oh yeah, the whole $100 for bringing new people- don't count on that. We've bought 2 new people in which there was always an excuse to why nobody was getting their money. So I don't recommend anyone else at this point.
I honestly don't feel I'm getting what I thought I would. I had better success with my bank. I say that very sadly. I desired more. And I really thought I'd get that. Unfortunately not. I wish nothing but success for all those who strive to secure a good financial institution!
Chime has devastated me! They transferred my direct deposit out of my account immediately, instead of posting it to my checking. They did this even though I had no due amounts and did not give permission to move my pay. They refuse to credit it back and have not made it available and I have called them 40 times in the past 3 days
This isn't a bank. Nothing they promise or advertise actually happens. This is just as bad if not worse than NetSpend.
Wallet was stolen a month ago. Requested a new card, not once but twice. Never received one. Been unable to do POS purchases. I call them and get a dumbass in the Philippines. Nobody in America. $#*! em. I'm going elsewhere.

I go to use my debit card as a debit card at a local retailer that I have used with my card before! I keep getting declined decline, oops wrong card. Use correct card...declined decline decline, decline, and I'm putting things back to pay under my balance, decline...wtf call Your card was blocked by international use, nope I've used here not international, ok we fixed, you can "try" it again! Nope I've embarrassed myself enough for the evening, you cost me my medicine and I will just pay cash from now on. You have not only upset me and the retail store, it's humiliating to have a situation seem like you're losing your mind? You should be ashamed for making changes without notification. If you can shut my card off you can send me a message or call me before, considering the lack of technology you're using to shut it off!

I'll give 2 stars for the simple fact customer support is "adequate" at best. My most recent request to cancel a pending deposit was a positive experience on customer service side. If it wasn't for that I don't think the 2 stars u even gave was "earned"

My girlfriend couldn't get direct deposit on PayPal so she went with chime and if your reading this before going with chime DO NOT $#*!ING DO IT THEY ARENT WORTH A $#*! I SWEAR ON MY LIFE. Answer: Yep! Same here. My entire paycheck was drained, then I filed a dispute and they closed it within hours, denying me of course. Next they decided to close my account out of nowhere, I'm sure bc I wouldn't stop trying to get my money back. I'll be taking this to a lawyer.
