The selection is excellent, the search functions are great, BUT... as a buyer, several things have happened with my purchases that are not good at all. First, I bought a small table for a particular purpose. After six weeks, I started asking where it was. "Not available." What? Got a $25 credit for their mistake - big deal. Need the table and decent customer service - not $25. Next: ordered another small table, same purpose. Four more weeks - again, "can't get seller to ship it." Seriously? So rebought a THIRD. In the meantime, they found the second, shipped it without telling me, so I have paid for and now have two. But not done with this saga yet. Then bought a collectible Kittinger table... arrived broken in several places. The shipper, Plycon, bless their hearts, told me to refuse delivery. AND... the paperwork showed me that the piece has been refused by someone else! So... now, I have placed FIVE calls and left five voice mails about my refund - no calls back. Just got one email - finally - telling me they would "investigate." DONT deal with this company - get the name of the seller, fond their website, and deal with them directly. Better yet, use reputable companies and deal with them directly: Stenella Antiques, Bucks County Estate Traders, and High End Used Furniture out of Missouri.
I bought a set of chairs and then returned them due to comfort. That part of the process was very smooth. I noticed today that the same set of chairs were on sale. Well, the retail price was much higher than they were originally listed for and they were marked down to a few dollars below the original asking price. It appears that there is a mark up to mark down scenario going on here.
If you are not of the elite to sell and with a company that sells on 1stdibs, you will not be allowed to sell on this site. I have been selling since 2013 and all they EVER do is deny anything I list, even thought their are items just like what I am selling in style and name brand. I was told that even though they allow those items for other sellers, it's only those sellers who are well known. THIS IS YET ANOTHER 1STDIBS. Does not matter I have vintage Chanel, Vendome, Lanvin, Canovas, Armani jewelry and more, it doesn't matter that I have fine jewelry to sell vintage from the 60s/70s, they basically told me I was not good enough. I removed all my Paul Evans furniture and mid century items too. IF they don't need my business to sell then that is fine by me. I will go back to Etsy. What a racket. And nasty rude too. IF you have noticed they DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO LEAVE A REVIEW UNLESS YOU BUY SOMETHING ON THEIR WEBSITE. There is no where really for sellers to leave reviews.
DO NOT use Charish! I ordered a china pitcher, it took weeks to get it mailed to me. I had to email multiple times. They charged me immediately. When it arrived it was smashed into a million pieces. It was in a big box with one thin layer of bubble wrap. Most of the box was not filled, just air. They would not refund my money. Buyer beware! Martha
As a full time vintage online seller - using mainly Etsy and Ebay I was highly dissatisfied with Chairish. The lack of communication and time period between sold and payment is shocking. I sold two chairs on December 10th and was super excited about the white glove pick up. But now have waited over 7 weeks to receive payment for them, along with no updates or communication about when funds will be released. Plus Chairish takes 20% commission. Not worth the wait or fee. I won't sell with them again. Still waiting on payment...
We apologize if anything was unclear. To protect our buyers and sellers we collect payment from the customer at checkout and issue payment to the seller after the customer has received their purchase in good order. This is to protect the reputation of our sellers and to protect our customers from fraudulent sellers who might create a fake listing, collect payment, and disappear. We do include this information on our site. Thank you. Team Chairish

Worst company we have had the displeasure of selling with. Do not waste your time or give them one cent.
I've sold thru various sites like ebay, craiglist, consigment houses then I saw chairish n was willing to give them a go. But after trying to post some items for days n getting a rejection/correction message with no help. From cisomer care you are left trying to get the time uulou wasted back. I'll save you the time DON'T USE CHAIRISH EVER. THEY DON'T CARE.
If you wish to buy something on Chairish, you have to know that in the price you will pay, is included a 20 % website commission.
It basically means that 20% of the price is not for the item you bought but for the Chairish company.
Also, avoid the white gloves service: it is not reliable and not a white gloves service...
Expect a very long delay to be delivered.
Be careful with the description: the Chairish curator know nothing about antiques and there are a lot of fake or wrong description.
We all need a website like Chairish to find nice and affordable antiques, but It looks like if Chairish only wanted to make money and did not care about their customers.
Their service is awful. The people working there are not friendly and they charge 20% for nothing! Might as well craigslist or any other of the tens of websites that offer the same service for FREE!
Stay away!
Wow don't understand the negative reviews. Have been selling on Chairish for several years, including large pieces of furniture. All positive! Even have had a repeat buyer. The white glove delivery service takes time and you must make sure your piece is loaded well and extra pieces, like hardware are put securely with the pfurniture. The movers are movers, not vintage/antique furniture lovers.
As a seller this site should be avoided. Chairish has no idea what they are doing, they are rude, they charge 20% commission for doing absolutely nothing. They try to tell you how to price your items. You are not allowed to communicate with your buyer at all, in fact you do not know what part of the country the buyer is even in until they provide you with tracking. They attach their name onto your business location. They hold payment until the item is delivered and 48 hours pass after delivery... of course its actually usually a week after delivery and I have had to email and remind them to release my money to me. On large items the white glove shipping is 4-5 weeks... thats over a month of time that YOUR money is sitting in their bank account collecting interest. Their "rules" change as it suits their needs and they take responsibility for nothing. If you feel the need to be screwed at every turn then by all means sell on this site.
Chairish has many antique, vintage, one of a kind, and difficult to find items. There really are some great finds on this site, and the prices are fair. Unfortunately, their over-priced 'white glove shipping' makes it difficult to afford the furniture piece you love. You can make a lower offer on your purchase, but all offers are final. The big problem with this is that you don't find out exactly how much the shipping will be when/if the offer is accepted, and they charge your credit card immediately if it is. Considering that shipping costs can be as much as $1,000, this could lead to some heart-stopping shipper shock.
I want to warn anyone who is considering purchasing from this online company. After searching their website, I found pictures of a used cabinet that was in very good condition with a few minor dings. When the cabinet arrived, it had many many additional scratches and dents and broken pieces that had been sloppily painted over. These defects were NOT present in the pictures online. Even the delivery men commented on the poor condition so I refused delivery and requested a refund. Chairish has refused to refund my money claiming that I must pay for the shipping to and from which is in excess of $900.00. The cabinet cost $720.00 I asked them to look at the pictures online and compare them to the pictures that I took and they simply said that it is a used piece of furniture and I should have expected blemishes. Please avoid doing business with Chairish.
Answer: Mary, because, simply put, it's a truly freaking awful place to be a seller. Yes, their commission is huge, but that's not even the beginning of the problem. It's also true that on the outside, it looks like a relatively professional, albeit middling enterprise and buyers trust it at first. I understand why you ask this question. But the people behind the scenes, every single one of them from VP's down, are disgustingly petty, cruel, dishonest, manipulative, cold, strange, socially inept, paranoid and just disrespectful people. They treat sellers like absolute garbage, suspect them of the worst, offer no freedom as to the listing, barely can get something listed in 2 or 3 weeks, then suddenly they all list at 2 am on a Sunday with messed up pictures. The more you sell, the more hateful they become toward you. Every time you ask for them to fix or help with something, they keep score. Every time a client has a question about their order or cancels or returns an order, they keep tabs as well. Use this information against you any chance they get. You willl never get paid. By never I mean in order to get paid, you will have to send multiple emails in the months after your sale in the hopes that someone might look up the tracking number you provided and mark the order as delivered. These emails will also count toward that tab. They will try anything not to pay you. They will lie and say a tracking number is fraudulent or that the package never sent... holding your money. They will say the customer hasn't confirmed delivery. They can barely answer simple support questions, nonetheless keep tabs of every order tracking, delivery and payment status. When I say it's a disaster, I am not exaggerating. They also scam the uship couriers and buyers out of any last penny they can. They will violate their own terms of service without a second thought. They will never hold themselves accountable for the mistakes that happen on their end. And if you speak out at all, you will be threatened and your account closed. It's a tragic, tragic place to do business and is tantamount to a scam operation.
Answer: I'm asking myself the same question, but not only do you provide your credit card information in advance, but they actually CHARGE your card for the offer amount BEFORE the seller even sees OR accepts the offer! If they don't accept it, then you have to wait 3-5 business days to receive a refund! Are you kidding me? They are making interest off of the week that YOUR money is in THEIR account! How can this be legal for you to pay for something that may not even be available for the price you have offered? And I'm being charged $19 to ship a small boudoir pillow PLUS a $5 SERVICE FEE which goes to Chairish for "administrative & credit card fees"? I am totally disgusted
Answer: All Chairish offers is a public comment space which the seller can ignore to its advantage (as happened to me). I posted comments that were ignored, too. I suspect that Chairish cares only about shipping, for which it charges an outrageous $299+
