I ended up getting care credit to pay for an operation that my insurance wouldn't cover. I was desperate and I'm pretty sure they prey on desperate people. I needed the operation I had no choice and this was the only away to get the amount I needed in the time I needed it. They are awful. They have no idea what's going on over there at their company at all. There have been times when I was charged a late fee without being late. There were times when their autopay took WAY more than it was supposed to take and they can't just REFUND the money they have to send you a check. 99% of the time when I call the person I talk to can barely speak English so it's not even clear if I'm getting my point across or not. Maybe it's not a scam, exactly, but they are definitely preying on people who have no other option but to get a card with them. As soon as I'm done paying this off I'm closing my account for good and never looking back.

I had to use this awful card to pay for 2 medical emergencies in 2015. One was a $1700 procedure for myself, the other was a $1300 vet appointment for our cat. I wasn't able to pay if off within the year time-frame of free interest. Actually at the time the year expired, I was enrolling all of my debt into a credit card consolidation system, so I also added my Care Credit card. The debt clearance program has been amazing, and 3 of my creditors settled out for 1k less than I actually owed. Then comes Care Credit. Their "settlement" amount shows as DOUBLE what I owed in the first place! I've consulted with the consolidation firm to see if this is an error, but after reading all these horrendous reviews, am betting it's real. If so, I plan to remove the 6k debt from my consolidation plan and just let it hit the 7-year mark where unpaid credit cards vanish into oblivion. I refuse to pay double the amount of my original bill. This company is obviously taking massive advantage of those who are in a tough situation. Despicable.

February 5, 2019

I used care credit and paid them off, and in return they closed my account! Why? Who knows, you call and never get to speak to anyone I waited over 1/2 hour. So I went to website tried to log in got red warning to call. Now I have Dr appt to cancel Thanks Care Credit! You dont know how to do business, who closes a account because they paid you in full? You just lost out, very disappointed with the way you do business! Unable to speak to anyone, just the run around. Will not ever recommend your service!

Anti-consumer
February 2, 2019

Do not use this if you are unable to pay it off during the "interest free" introductory period. The subsequent interest rate and penalties are at the max. They are insensitive and inflexible. They seem to be one of the most greedy of all credit providers. They profit on the backs of the consumer, particularly those who already struggling financially. Avoid it at all possible.

They are trash AF
January 27, 2019

I've had my care credit open for a month and they closed it, I have never used it before. They stated my credit score decreased so that was the reason for closing it wtf. I thought credit cards are suppose to help you build your credit. Didn't even give me the opportunity to use it and the customer service is just horrible.

Got this card for a vet bill and were desperate at the time. Also used it for it a root canal.

For those two charges the highest we were in debt with care credit was 1700 dollars.

I have been paying an average of 65 dollars monthly on the card since 2015 and my account balance is now 1,350. This is lunacy, stupid of me but I finally looked at what was going on. They charge a 38 interest fee EVERY MONTH. Few days late on payment? 38 DOLLAR LATE FEE.

This card is criminal it is worse than a loan shark. I am going to have a consultation with an attorney to see if their rates/fees are a fair business trade or not.

Honestly if you are in the same boat as we were, go to Money Tree or Dollar Loan Center for a quick emergency loan.

Also since the god damn balance never goes down, even making monthly payments does not even help your credit score, since this damn thing will always be at least 50 percent of its max.

Wow! Not sure how they are in existence. But from all the one star reviews, it shows they are out to get the card holders AND the merchants who allow their card use. Attitude with all Caps. Service - what's that. The run around - experts at it. Crooks - basically wanted to hold my funds already paid by their client which is owed to the merchant even after validating merchant account. Client/Merchant Appreciation - None. Never again. Clients and Merchants BEWARE of Care Credit, dba synchrony bank.

I signed up for this credit card when our dog had a stroke and we racked up over $6000 in vet and specialty bills. I had been diligently making payments to avoid interest fees and then made additional charges for other smaller vet visits. When I had expected that I would have had the original balance paid off, I then started incurring interest charges. When I called them to question it, they told me that (unlike other cards like Best Buy via Citibank) they do not automatically apply payments to the oldest promotional balances, which should be the only way they would apply them to get The older promotional balances paid off before applying to more recent promotional balances that aren't close to expiring. The "agent" even told that there is a complex formula used to decide which promotional balance to apply payments to "that they don't even understand". Yeah sure, I think it's clear that they know exactly how it calculates it - the best way for them to make money for themselves! If you are already using this scam company, get your balance paid off ASAP! If you're not already using them, DON'T!

Crooks and scammers
January 16, 2019

We decided to use the 6 months no interest promotion through them and after a few months I noticed that we were being charged interest. After calling them out and even speaking with our provider they refuse to refund the interest and they say that the 6 months no interest promotion was never on my account. If I hadnt had that "promise" I would've used a different method of a loan that doesn't charge huge amounts of interest. Treat your customers better you pieces of trash.

The interest and fees are so high that they make it impossible to pay down your debt. Ever! Our dog had to have surgery and we were approved for $3500 that was almost 2 years ago and we have made the mistake of making only the minimum payment every month. My bank records show I have made approximately $2600 in payments to care credit and I still have a balance of $3000! 2 years of payments and only 500 of my balance is gone. This company should be sued! I hope care credit goes bankrupt someday and all the people who run it rot in hell for taking advantage of people who are in dyer needs. $#*! you care credit and synchrony bank!

I purchased a Medical treatment in May 2017. I was told that I had 18 months to pay it. They kept advertising for me to use my card for animals and other medical treatments without telling me that all the other purchases allowed them to only put 3 % of my payments toward the initial purchase. Now $1500 has been added to this card for interest as the 18 months was up, even though I paid almost the full amount to the initial purchase. I didn't and to stop the $1500, I have 12 days to pay 2100. When I called them, their response we send you your statements every month. My response as I pulled my statement up, where does it show that you only apply the 3% to my initial balance. He said it doesn't. I said that's what I mean. Your company never told me that, and I would have NEVER used this card for anything else. Its a scam.

Wish I never had to apply
December 27, 2018

I applied and was approved. I was told wait somewhere around 10 days for my card. (Can't remember the exact amount now) I never received it. I called and was rudely told to wait longer. I ended up cancelling the card not knowing Care Credit reported a lost or stolen card to the credit bureaus, dropping my score 13 points. Of course my old card comes the next day, later than supposed to. But now I can't do anything with it because it's already been cancelled. Now I have to wait for the new one. I called and complained, and it was supposed to be corrected. Never was. Then they reported an account closed and it dropped another 12 points! I called and complained again. They reassured me that I would get my points back once it was reported an account was opened again. I had them dispute this with the credit bureaus and I lost another 6 points due to a "remark added/consumer dispute". If you are like me and closely monitor your credit report because you have worked harder than hell to build your credit; finally recached the 700s, and lost 31 points! Be careful with this one!

I had a bet purchase- open this account because I didn't have all the funds at that time. I made a payment and then the next next month the automated system said, "you do not have a payment due" at this time. I then started to get text and calls at all times of the night. I didn't authorize text and calling me 7am in the morning is an unfair credit practice. This company is deceptive, as they bill differently than what is stated to collect more interest. Then they can't explain or make you whole. I escalated my concern and the person wasn't listening, spoke over me- refused to let me speak to another supervisor or escalate beyond him- said his nsme was Zack. YOU REFUSE TO LET ME ESCALATE MY CONCERN PAST YOU?! I will not. E at the mercy of a company that is deceptive and abusicw with practices impacting my cbr- attorney general and BBB escalation on the way. These type of companies must be stopped!

Be Very Wary
December 21, 2018

Be very careful in accepting credit from this organization. A Health Care provider had me use them to cover some medical procedures touting how there is no interest to be paid if you pay in full in a year-READ THE FINE PRINT-If you haven't paid the balance the off-the interest in only deferred-you'll get hit with a year's back interest-It's easy to lose track over the course of a year-I'm transferring me balance to another credit card

Horrivle customer service
December 12, 2018

The customer service is horrible. You can barely understand them when talking to customer service and even when you speak to a supervisor you can barley understand them too. If you are few days late on your payment they will call MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY! They will call you at 5 am- 11pm. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone! I can't wait to close this account!

Care credit is the absolute worst company! They will lie to you, take advantage, and put you on card security without permission. How anyone could work for this company and think there a good person is beyond me. If you fall into their trap your best bet is to find another credit lender that will transfer your debt. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I have been called several times in the past 2 years that charges are being brought against me in a civil suit in court. I used care credit in 2006 at the vet when our dog passed away. This was paid off years ago! I have never received any letters in regards to this issue, this does not show on my credit report but yet they fell it necessary to call and make threat to me on my cell phone, my husbands cell phone and my father in laws cell phone number. I don't know how they would have gotten these numbers, I do not use them as a primary I still have a house number. And my father in law I don't live with him and never will, but yet they threaten to send someone to his house after me. Horrible company! 2006 to 2018 wow that's a long time, if I owed money why was I not notified a long time ago?

HORRIBLE
November 20, 2018

My name is Rosa. In my 20 years of having different credit cards, I've never experienced such a bad service and system as CareCredit. They have the worst customer service and management team. They also don't consider or give sorry to their clients. I would not recommend this credit card service to anyone!
